" Style " Over Substance

The Memorial Hall is presently open for voters to have their say in the " Super Thursday" elections. Mary and I will pop along shortly to have." Our " say.
I think it's vital that we all put our X in the box.
With some horror and a huge amount of disbelief , I have witnessed the success of Donald Trump in the race for the White House. He is a shouting buffoon of a man, a bully, in that simple big bellied, hand on hips, small Town way and to us Brits, who only have the benefit of six minute news outlines read out by Fiona Bruce in a nice frock, he looks overblown and crass.
Of course, I am not privy to the nuances of the Presidential Race. I am not reallly arsed researching it either; but to me a statesman has to be statesmanlike. Plain and simple.
Boris Johnson take note.
Buffoons and shouters need not apply.

Where is Henry Fonda when you need him.!

Anyhow , today looks like another lovely day. Winnie is still not 100% despite her adrenaline filled walk to the kitchen last night, and is lying weakly on the couch like Blanche DuBois. The geese are all crammed into a freshly filled lurid purple paddling pool and are noisily washing each other's necks   and Mary is nowhere to be seen.
I know exactly were she is .
Every morning she can be found in the back yard, propped up against the garden shed , sunbathing.

Isn't Fiona a delight. We only know her here from Antiques Roadshow. Trumpet is not a delight but in a perverse way, I would not mind if he was elected and brought to heel by the US public service and practicalities. Just wait of the quote for the Mexican wall comes in. He will realise that he will have to give foreign aid to Mexico for them to pay for the wall.

  3. I cannot help but think if Donald Trump is the best they can do . . . well they deserve him. Mary looks so cosy and relaxed, I would love to know what went on in the kitchen while you were out. Pamper Winnie I have a feeling she was trying to stop Mary doing something naughty and came off the worse for it all. Mary will settle down, I prefer dogs and cats to puppies and kittens. Love Andie xxx

  4. I am truly embarrassed to be an American right now. 1/2 of all Republicans seem to settle for him over Cruse, but that means 1/2 don't and I can't imagine any of the Democrats voting for him in the general election. His actual followers probably number about 1/4 th of the country. This isn't "Real Housewives of Wash.D.C.".... wake up America!

  5. As Jan says, a huge number of Republicans object to Trump but apparently they're powerless to do anything about him. The bookies have Hillary a cert to win the Presidency. It seems women are going off Trump in droves after all his misogynistic blurtings.

    Get well soon, Winnie!

  11. The majority of Americans can't believe that Trump will be a nominee. The media promoted him by making him the major story on the news every day for the past ten months and only gave the other candidates a smidgen of press. People watched because they could not believe what he was saying and the TV stations made more money from their advertisers. And now, look what those profits got us. It is all so frightening and very depressing.

  13. I'd vote Mary for President!! Gentle, goodhearted and relaxed. Today we celebrated Christs ascending to the heavens, starting with 15 minutes of churchbells and 15 with a 19 yearold trumpeter, playing Chorals from the churchtower.
Sun shone brightly from the deep blue sky and Donald Trump seemed very very distant. He does worry me, what will the future have in store with him in the White house?? Will he keep frying bacon on his gunpipe every saturday morning?? May God give him a kind of welsh terrier personality, then he might pass.

  15. Well, let's be honest it's the fault of having a Presidential system. If the US had a monachy like us, the individuals could still vote for - generally - the party of their choice and the larger/largest side gets to choose a leader. No way would Trump be the Leader of the Republicans who are elected. Mind you we still ended up with Corbyn, but he would never be Prime Minister. IMHO

I agree alot with what Trump has to say ... just not necessarily the WAY he says it... I'll take Hillary over Bernie Sanders any day... And when it comes down to it i might just take Hillary over Trump... I don't like either one but Hillary just might be the saner choice... I'm disappointed that she might be the one to represent our first woman president... but honestly i didn't see any other woman stepping up that i would want either... I wasn't happy with our first black president either.... but hey when all they do is give you lemons , all you can do is make lemonade... Hugs! deb

I voted for Bernie over the liar Hillary (but she won my state anyways) who is really just transformed into Bubba Bill with her/his hand out for the so called Clinton Foundation. They have racked in millions and millions from the oil rich nations.
It is so bad here in America, but that is what you get when congress does not listens to what is left of the over taxed middle class.
I don't want to vote for Trump or Benghazi Hillary. I would vote for Bernie. Maybe we should start a write in vote.

Love the photos of Mary, what a sweetie. She found the best spot.

    2. You got me, parsnip. My state has voted. I'm really just talking about which candidate I should have a rooting interest (as if that has any effect.) More to the point, it bothers me some that this election is portrayed overseas (and it's the fault of our media as much, maybe more, than theirs) as solely about Trump, as if what's going on in the Democratic party doesn't matter. I think it does! I'm much closer to Bernie in my views than Hillary. But I wonder if a man who not to long ago called himself a socialist, a word that every red-blooded American is taught to despise from birth up until they start receiving their first Social Security checks, won't be putty in the rabid Trump's hands. Just watch Trump compare Bernie to Stalin if he gets the nomination. Then again, as the first woman Presidential nominee, God knows what Trump will say about Hillary. My guess is we'll see just how many euphemistic synonyms for male genitalia there really are. Whatever happens, it going to be an interesting time in American politics, if not American standards of decency.
