Back To Normal

I was late to fat club today. It's the farm traffic on the roads. Everything seems on a go slow.
Before I jumped on the scales, I tried to cover myself by telling Marjorie Dawes that I have just been on holiday in Broadstairs!
" one pound on!" Marjorie announced loudly
" Is that all ?" I exclaimed " I can't believe that!"
" Well it's true" Marjorie replied ..and she seemed rather morose " I put on eleven and a half pounds when I went on holiday"
I felt like saying " Where did you go on holiday...Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory? " but I didn't
But it would have been very funny if I had.
Having said that, I have just chomped my way through a box of celebrations
- a thank you from old Lynwen Hughes for her son winning the best ornamental garden cup! I keep telling her I cannot influence the judging and that he won on merit.....but she insisted

In an effort to be healthier , I have just made these odd looking but bloody lovely courgette tortillas for tea.......having said this, I did notice that I had hidden the celebrations wrappers in the gaudy welsh jug on the kitchen table!
WHERE DO YOU HIDE YOUR CHOC WRAPPERS?

I'll leave you with photos of William and Winnie sporting their new bandannas

  1. I have a friend who makes wonderful chocolates. No chocolatier in Belgium could make finer delicacies. She often gifts me with a box. I slip them into my bag and then give them to the to road guys at the township.

That was nice of her to give you chocolate. One pound off and one pound back on ;-)

  4. Chocolate. sigh ... there have been days when I was reduced to grabbing a bag of chocolate chips meant for baking, out of the cupboard and eating a handful. When you must have chocolate, you must . have . chocolate.
    and pups. gotta have pups.

    1. Inexplicably, if I have any chocolates or choc bars in the house I can't leave them alone. But the chocolate chips remain untouched, no matter how much I crave.

William seems to like his bandanna more than Winnie. He looks all dressed up.

  7. Willy wonka's......Hilarious! I love the excuses at my fat club, 'we had the grandchildren for the week', makes me wonder if they ate them!

  8. Me thinks it was good you got a weigh in after the flower show. You probably shed a couple of pounds with all of the activity that evert requires you expend.

    The pups look quite dapper.

I never hide my chocolate wrappers no matter how racked with guilt and remorse I may be. They serve as a reminder to not be so bloody stupid next time. But there's always a next time....

  17. Winnie and William look ever so gorgeous in their respective bandanas! Please give them additional tummy tickles for me. Great news on your minuscule weight gain after a week of holiday indulging. You'll soon lose that. I just throw my chocolate wrappers in the bin.

  18. Ooh, courgette tortillas, sounds delicious, I must try that out.

I don't hide my choc wrappers. We both know each other's shameless choc-gorging tendencies.

  19. The dogs look fetching.
I don't hide the wrappers, simply put them in the bin when i'm done. I gained about 5 lbs this summer, eating too many treat foods with houseguests. I have taken two off, but the last three are being stubborn.

  20. Luckily I don't have to hide wrappers - that would be w o r k.

  26. I am glad to see the stars on Winnie's bandanna, they match her personality. It is a good thing to be a star and to shine on one's family as she does.

  27. The dogs look lovely, but in Winnie's case a little unimpressed :-)

I tie any sweet wrappers in little knots, a throwback to when we had a cat called Sam who used to play with them. We often wondered where they all disappeared to and then I pulled a large bookcase out to clean behind it one day and found a neat little mountain of knotted crisp packets and sweet wrappers.

It's was these days to hide any evidence, I just throw them in the log burner, when it gets full I light it .... no matter how hot it is, you can always open a window ;-)

  28. Cutest photos of the darling dogs. I eat way too much chocolate and seem to have crazes on certain things. Cadbury fruit and nut is my favourite at the moment.
