Going Gently has had it's fair share of internet " trolls" over the years. I tend to ignore them as their faceless, anonymous presence brings the worst out in me. I have just seen the work of a troll on Cro's gently paced French country blog and I found myself responding to his/her stupidity by posting a rather satisfying but hollow threat of " if you say anything to me , I'll bitch slap you so hard that your tits will fall off"
Yes very articulate....
Anyhow, I have just collected 8 nominations for the " Best Garden In Trelawnyd " award for the Flower Show., and it's taken some flannel,to get people to enter.......unfortunately I could not persuade our neighbours Viv and Mike to enter, for their labour of love would win the competition every single year.
Yesterday, I took these photos .......I am going to enter a couple in the Flower Show's photo competition " spring/summer"

And finally a few more novelty veg entries
Yes I was just reading Cro's posts , that person just kept commenting . I just don't understand trolls . If you don't like a blog just go .
ReplyDeleteIs that carrot Tom Stephenson's entry by any chance?
ReplyDeleteThose garden photographs are beautiful.
No Weave. I don't enter using carrots.
DeleteThe flower beds are bloomin' lovely! I get loads and load of spam comments on my blog from trying to sell me Viagra to 'designer' handbags. As I moderate the comments I get to see them before they are published and I delete them. I am sick of them wasting my time. I love the carrot entries. The second photo of carrots look like they have been subject to witnessing the carrot in the first photo judging by 'their' expressions!
ReplyDeleteLovely flower beds ...
ReplyDeleteJohn, I believe an internet troll (please correct me if I'm wrong) is someone who derails an argument or sentiment with comments to deliberately cause harm and distress to the person who wrote the original article.
I didn't see this particular incident as trolling, rather a reasoned argument.
Actually, sorry John, Cro ... I may have been talking about the wrong commenter.
DeleteCarry on.
Yes I was referring to sara, who seems to be a real pain in the ass
DeleteIt's nothing! And it's about time Cro wrote about something other than food and paid the price for sticking his head over the parapet. A shit-storm in a tea cup.
DeleteThe photo of the novelty carrot is rather rude. Onlookers might mistake the middle appendage for a penis even though the carrot in question has no arms or head. What are Mrs Trellis and Aunt Gladys going to think when they see it? Perhaps it will bring back happy memories.
ReplyDeletereminds me of my ex-husband...one of 9182736450 reasons he's now an ex-husband.
DeleteSo he didn't have arms and a head? Was his body orange? Must have been a weird looking guy.
Deletehe WAS pretty weird looking; glad to be rid of him!
DeleteLOVERLY flower beds!
ReplyDelete'Bitch slap you so hard that your tits will fall off' - I'd actually like to see that.
ReplyDeleteFantastic garden - nice work!
You have a really lovely garden, so much variety and gorgeous colour! I am feeling quite envious as my own garden is looking very bleak in its winter mode. Had to chuckle at Yorkshire Pudding's comment.
ReplyDeleteSummertime, you never know what is growing on in the garden (oh bad pun)
ReplyDeleteCarrots are just so RUDE ... you never know what sort of flasher you are about to pull up!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh ... and trolls are the worst form of social media lowlife, I delete them if they slip through or send them straight to spam. In fact thinking about it Spam and trolls have so much in common ... yucky pink meat that needs to be contained in a tin!!
" Carrots are just so rude "LOL ... aren't they !!
Deletebeautiful flower photos!
ReplyDeleteWhen trolls come around, you just put on your "moderation" and read them before publishing .. it discourages them after a while. Small minded people should not interfere with everyone else's enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteThat one little carrot man caught my eye. I must say, they don't grow veggies like that in New York State ... too bad . :)
I don't let rude comments stand. it's my blog and if you don't like what I write, don't come to my place. I delete them. I don't let comments stay whose only purpose is to drive business to their site by posting their business web address either. I delete them also.
ReplyDeleteand what a gorgeous garden. it's too hot down here right now for much to be blooming. the ginger and the plumbago and that's about it.
I do that myself. I have received a few over the past 2 years; they have not returned. they are bullies who want attention; ain't got time for that.
DeleteThe garden is just gorgeous ... I don't have a green thumb -- that's saved for my husband -- but I am green with envy at your flowers.

ReplyDeleteThat carrot looks familiar.
ReplyDeleteI've been lucky never to have a troll. I often wonder if this means I'm just too boring to bother with.
ReplyDeleteThose gardens are astounding.
Beautiful gardens. I don't think there is much colour at all in mine...lots and lots of green only. The Cro troll thing is a puzzle to me......I don't know who these people are but it is all quite curious.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers! And I love your way with words when you're annoyed! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is gorgeous. The others are nice, too, just sayin' the first one would be a winner in my books!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Gardens...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower garden John!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! So gorgeous, well done. X
ReplyDeleteTrolls hope to be fed, sad little people who get excited if they get a reply. I pity them and always ignore them. X
The garden photos are just gorgeous. And oh my, that carrot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of your flowers John although they would have been improved by inserting George or Albert into them lol.
