She is better behaved than every dog we have ever had who would have helped themselves as soon as your cruel and uncaring back was turned. So would our cats.
Ginger cake? That sounds yummy. Is this a secret family recipe or can you share? I'm guessing Winnie is frustrated that she does have the leaping ability superpower. ;-)
3 eggs Same weight in sugar Same weight soft butter Same weight flour 1 teaspoon of ginger Beat in ingredients except flour Fildbin flour Bake in oven 160 degrees 40 mins +
Sounds very similar (minus the ginger) to what we call a pound cake here...it gets its name from a 'pound of eggs, pound of flour, pound of sugar and pound of butter'.
Bless her! One of mine used to sit by things the same way and roll her head back at me like seal, as if to say, "Can't you see what I want here? Are you blind?"
I'm going to have to make one now....it's one of my favourites.....and that is a very...particular... look on her face isn't it? did you have to cover the cake when you were in the other room? was it still standing when you came back in?
I love ginger and your cake must be a winner if Winnie's attentions are anything to go by! Winnie, I do think you should insist that the next baking session involves a liver and parsley cake! And make sure you get the largest slice.
ooooooooooooh, please cut a slice for me and winnie!

I am very fond of ginger cake, but I suppose I would have to marry you to get you to make some for me. I'm not THAT fond of it.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting 13 hours for you to say 'I wouldn't marry you if you were the last old man on earth...' or something similar.
DeleteOk id just fuck your brains out..hows that?
DeleteGinger cake? I wonder if that is like our gingerbread?
ReplyDeleteWhatever, I believe that your watcher may need to be watched.
I'll marry you for a slice of that ginger cake, John. And I'll share it with darling Winnie!
ReplyDeleteI love that face-who needs words
ReplyDeleteDon't take your eyes off the ginger cake! I love ginger cake!
ReplyDeleteOne gulp & it's gone !
ReplyDeleteI hope you let her lick the bowl....
ReplyDeleteIn light of dear Winnie saving Albert's life I think she deserves a slice!
ReplyDeleteOnly a small piece for you though.
ReplyDeleteLucky guy! Winnie wants some too - is she drooling?
ReplyDeleteLead her not into temptation, bulldogs only have limited willpower
ReplyDeleteFull marks for perseverance, The Lady is not fainthearted.
ReplyDeleteThat dog is devoted to cake!
ReplyDeleteShe is better behaved than every dog we have ever had who would have helped themselves as soon as your cruel and uncaring back was turned. So would our cats.
ReplyDeleteWinnie obviously shows great focus and concentration . Even a super dog who saves her best cat friend deserves cake.....
ReplyDeleteWinnie is a lady after my own heart. I like cake!!!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that Winnie gets a slice of cake.
ReplyDeleteShe ain't no dummy!

ReplyDeleteRecipe please? When you consider the scent sensibility of dogs it must be dog-a-licious (and people-a-licious)? !
ReplyDelete3 eggs
ReplyDeleteSame weight in sugar
Same weight soft butter
Same weight flour
1 teaspoon of ginger
Beat in ingredients except flour
Fildbin flour
Bake in oven 160 degrees 40 mins +

DeleteWinnie is the same colour as the ginger cake. Perhaps she was thinking, "So that's how baby bulldogs are made!"
ReplyDeleteThat face! I know you gave her a nibble!
ReplyDeleteIf I were there, I would be sitting beside Winnie, with the same look on my face.
ReplyDeleteI'd be doing the same thing if I was at your house!
ReplyDeleteBless her! One of mine used to sit by things the same way and roll her head back at me like seal, as if to say, "Can't you see what I want here? Are you blind?"
ReplyDeleteWinnie has great powers of concentration and she's dedicated to her task. Could I borrow her to show my high school students what this looks like??
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful photo; another one for the mantelpiece methinks.
ReplyDeleteGo on John - give the poor girl a taste - just a smidgen off a corner - the Prof won't mind !
ReplyDeleteI bet W's salivating would have given Pavlov much satisfaction - but there's a limit, surely. Go on, give her a bit, and I don't mean just crumbs.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to make one now....it's one of my favourites.....and that is a very...particular... look on her face isn't it? did you have to cover the cake when you were in the other room? was it still standing when you came back in?
ReplyDeletebut did he share?

She's trying all her powers of telekinesis to will it to jump off the plate.
ReplyDeleteWinnie's Great Expectation! Oh that pretty face....
ReplyDeleteIf I were a dog I'd be Winnie.
ReplyDeleteFrom the post title, I thought you were going to feature a hot redhead. Boy, am I disappointed...
ReplyDeleteAwww ... and here I would have thought ginger too spicy for doggies' tastes ... I hope someone sneaked her a piece ...
ReplyDeleteYummy..If your willing to share the recipe send it to my email:farmert976@sbcglobal.net.
ReplyDeleteAww the lovely Winnie, cake looks yum.
