With An Olive.,..please

I could just fucking well do with a vodka martini
The ones you get in American Bars that blow your tits  off.
My husband has been over working recently and has slept most of the afternoon away on the couch
covered by Scottish Terrier.
Therefore we missed the cinema and have done bugger all...... but I wont complain......he needed the rest! I know that
Now I am sat with a poorly, pooing Meg on my knee
Watching shit tv
Hubby is in bed with smiling Scottish Terrier
and he's working away all week
Modern lives eh?

  1. I think I AM going to have a vodka martini here in a bit when my own husband gets home. I sincerely hope it does not blow my tits off. They are old tits, but they are mine.

  4. I do know what you mean. Modern times are not the best for families. My husband is always tired and away as well. I, too, am a housewife. I get it.

  7. My favorite "grown up" drink .. a vodka martini ... I eat too many olives when I drink them .. or I should say, when I drink one. I become boneless after one martini. ( cheap date).. A husband sleeping beside you is better than no husband at all. :)

  9. I understand this John. My partner works long hours and is on call. Many a time outings are cancelled as he gets called out. Weekend plans are often cancelled due to work . It is disappointing when you look forwards to the weekends and time together. In my experience if feeling like this and add a martini or too equals a maudlin state of mind . X

  13. Too bad you missed the movie, but I bet Meg is happy that you spent the day with her. I adore olives.

  16. Sounds just like my life actually!!

This weekend I went to stay at Lovely Hubby's week day digs to give him a break from the weekend drive to the old homestead. We both needed the break, me to get away from the constant building and him to not have that long drive home after a long, hard shitty week, he's been having lots of those recently with pressure of work mounting and mounting.

A good weekend was had by all and not a martini in sight .... there WAS lots of wine and cider though :-)

  17. Don't believe I've ever experienced a vodka martini in ANY form, let alone with any 'submersions'. Clearly, there's a whole lotta living still to be done.
But you really do deserve something similar as recompense for caring for poor, poorly Meg rather than see the much-panned 'San Andreas' - for that is what it was going to be, warn't it?

  20. I have to miss a great weekend away because of husbands's work.

Note to self...NEVER plan time off together in the summer ! I never learn !

  21. My husband is really knackered and stressed at work at the moment. He slept Sat and Sun afternoon on the sofa. I see it a bit like the laundry, ironing and batch cooking and baking at the weekend - it's an investment for the week ahead, and allowing them to rest at the weekend is helping our husbands to build up their energy for the busy week ahead at work. Hope Meg gets better soon x

  22. Ditch the tv for a bit of YouTube action. That way you can watch what interests you rather than the crap that's on, so many good channels on there.

  23. Roll on retirement John - you are beginning to sound like Rachel on a bad day! Switch off the telly and start putting together that book I keep urging you to write - you have more than enough material on your blog for a fantastic book.

  24. I'd go for gin, myself, but otherwise, I'm with you!

  25. Meg is no better then? That's not good. I've developed a taste for margaritas lately, I think I must be regressing.

  26. I have a freshly opened bottle of the best vodka made in the United States, (Wheatly) pop by and I'll fix you up.

I have long been the one who has put career ahead of life, then all of a sudden I am off work for a couple of months. Kind of opened my eyes. I do enjoy travel, and work gives me a lot of opportunities to travel.

  27. Ah yes, dinners, theatre trips, birthdays (even the kids') missed. Weekends buggered up, holidays started a day late - the hazards of being married to a 'professional'.

  28. Everything we have ever done has revolved around husbands work schedule and kids school and activities. I've had those pity pot days when I wondered if I should pack a bag and see how they did without me. But think of all I would have missed...not for all the tea in China.... Has Meg been to the vet for a sample to be tested to give any info?

  32. Shit TV? Is that available on Freeview or only on SKY? "Downton Lavvy", "Top of The Plops", "Poowatch"?

  33. Sometimes having a successful husband has downsides; stress, tiredness, long hours, them falling asleep by 0pm, having to keep the home fires burning as well as holding down your own job. On the bright this morning I had a cat litter tray and a pile of cat sick to clean up before setting up to work. And smile...... :-) I hope Meg is feeling better,
