I really enjoyed Graham Norton's homage to Eurovision last night....it couldn't have been any more camp if Diana Dors had been wheeled on in a pink jumpsuit by four naked musclemen.
Anne Marie-David, looking fab reprised her 1973 hit " Tu Tu Reconnaitras"
I loved it.
I watched some of it and enjoyed it a lot more than the Eurovision song contest itself. One of my favourite songs was 'a little peace' won by Germany's Nicole.
ReplyDeleteWasnt she sweet?
DeleteI loved it too. Petra Mede, the co- host was fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHer dress was a cracker
DeleteI watched it all as well and really enjoyed, well, most of it - my memories going right back to Pearl Carr & Teddy Johnson and their 'Sing Little Birdie' coming second in 1959.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I didn't care for your Anne Marie-David and went and fed the cats while she was on. But on the whole, pleasant memories were indeed stirred.
Now roll on 23/5, the one night in the year where I stay up beyond 11 p.m. 'cos it really is THAT important - and where, despite the gripes and moans, I like this year's UK entry a lot.
Ive not heard the real uk entry...just the dance version!
DeleteWill look it up
Really loved it too John and, sad to say, I remembered all of them { apart, maybe, from the woman who won the first one although, didn't she look good ….. she must have been getting on a bit !! }
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a bit of Eurovision ! XXXX
We are sitting in our t shirts jac!
DeleteI didn't watch it. I watched Freddie Mercury.
ReplyDeleteHes dead
DeleteThe Diana Dors image is almost too much for my tender mind to take John!!
ReplyDeleteYou'd never make a fag hag patricia
DeleteHello John,
ReplyDeleteIf we need any reminding about why we do not have a television, then the merest thought, homage or glimpse of Eurovision confirms the sanity of our decision.
However, Diana Dors making an appearance on the screen in a pink jumpsuit being manhandled by four Muscle Marys...now that may we worth paying the licence fee for!
Oh, but J & L H, Eurovision is such a must-see hoot every time. - infuriating and hilarious in equal measure - and besides, for many years now, the likes of me (nudge nudge) always get a thrill from the sight of a hottie or three. It's without doubt THE television event of the year. Take it from someone who knows it is!
DeleteWelcome Hattatts! You both are becomming a cult
DeleteMost French songs sound like the above, only usually the music and the lyrics don't match.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great show, John.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall that piece back in 1973 but I was very busy that year!!
i LOVE French tunes and most of the time listen to French CBC radio quite a bit....they play much better music than the other CBC stations....in my humble opinion, of course (being Canadian).
Now jimbo
DeleteWhat WHERE you doing in 73?
I remember her. i heard that Australia is going to take part this year.
ReplyDeleteAre they?
DeleteHow wonderful
You can watch their song in youtube, also the Israeli song.
DeleteWas this the concert at Hammersmith? I have a friend who went. I didn't realize it was already on TV or I'd have watched it!
ReplyDeleteI may be a music fiend, a music journo and indie club dj in my past life, but I like Euro's camp spectacle. (This year I'm voting for Finland - if you don't know about the act, read up on them).
ReplyDeleteThere have been some really good songs over the years - Francoise Hardy represented Luxembourg, Serge Gainsbourg wrote entries for France, but my all time favourite is this little slice of earnestness, full of 1980's video cliches:

I have it taped for a later treat!
