A Professor At Home

Chris is full of cold, so is working at home today.
I tend to be busy outside when he works from home.
( if you get my drift)
Through years of experience , I knew I needed to hide various bits and bats..........
I found an ideal hiding place for the Easter Eggs I bought for Sorrel's Easter egg hunt ( I have a tradition to organise an Easter Egg hunt for my seventy year old mother-in-law)

This morning, I went shopping with the dogs
Now any " proper " shop means a ten mile round trip to Marks & Spencer, a trip that was irritatingly extended by  another five miles after I caught sight of Albert sitting with Winnie on the back seat.
Best laid plans ......best laid plans
So I drove back home, extracted a fairly sulky Albert from the car then carried on with shopping, dog walking and other jobs.

Like I said, best to be busy when there's a Professor working from home
At the moment ...he's involved in some high powered shinanigains
I'm making dumplings
BTW
By mid afternoon......only a couple of eggs were left!
Hey ho

  1. Ah Albert... The best thing for me when you get one of your long comment strings is that it takes me down to your picture of Albert. I think I love Albert. Would much prefer an Albert face dunt than a Winnie slobber. But he seems a bit thin for a rabbit eater. Is that an old photo? I wonder if he is a fat rabbity lump now. My mother used to take her cat out walks in a harness and lead... Albert deserves a trip out.

    1. He's certainly has put on weight... When he broke his leg when he was just out of kittenhood, he was a skinny little scrap....and never put weight on for a couple of years.......i'll post a photo of him on todays post just for you

of choccy or a rustle of silver paper and he's off. Like a truffle hound in a French forest x

  3. No good moaning about poor little Albert when you've only got to go on the same mission all over again. If you ask me, serves you darned right!

Are you escaping his cold or his presence? Haha.
The husband takes to his bed when he gets a cold...men.

    1. I have just been in bed for most of two days with a "cold" susie. I think you are forgetting that cold viruses affect men so much more profoundly and seriously than they do woman. It is a different disease entirely in the male (obviously).

  6. Oh the life of Albert!!! I believe he thinks he's a dog! And why not!
    It was probably Winnie's fault!
I get your drift, John.......too many 'cooks in the kitchen/house'!!

  7. I'd rather have dumplings than high powered shenanigans. Did the Professor go on an Easter egg hunt as soon as you had driven off?

  8. Was in Marks and Spencer a little while ago and bought The Man's Easter egg. NOT the 40 pound sterling one either, I hasten to add. Son, Robert, 33, wants Darth Vader -- one more to go for the little Welsh girl. Hope Chris feels better soon -- you've got enough on your plate without a sickie! ;-) xo

Hopefully, it wasn't Albert who ate the eggs as pay back for his curtailed shopping trip....

  12. I hope Dr Chris feels better soon! For all your sakes.

I laughed when I read Albert was in the car with Winnie. My kitties have sometimes sniffed inside the car if I've opened up the door and they're with me, but none of the cats who've lived with me ever wanted to go for a ride in the car.

I think it's so sweet that you do a egg hunt for your MIL. Sorrel is lucky to have you as a son-in-law.

    1. We had a cat Jabba who loved to ride in the car.
When we went to the vets he would ride in the car then we would have to put him in his carrier when we got there. He didn't really like that at all.

      cheers, parsnip

    2. Lol, it 's my fault...I have a tendency to shout at the dogs to all get in the car together..... albert just tags along in the middle!

  13. awwwww, poor albert never gets to go ANYWHERE! :(

  14. Give us this day our daily snort ... you've come through again, John.

Really, though, would it have killed you to let Albert come with? Oh. Yes, with all the pointy bits on a cat, it probably would.

    1. Yes...i couldnt trust him to stay in the car when i was taking the dogs for their walk..........he'd never find his way home!

  16. I'm not fussed about the big Easter eggs but I can't do without Cadburys Creme Eggs at Easter - and well before and well after Easter!

  17. It's a good ten miles to the store from my house, too. I've never considered it daunting except the time the drug store mixed up my prescription and asked me to come back. I made them "correct it now!" because it was a twenty mile round trip. That's 2/3 a gallon of gas.

  18. Who ate those eggs. I am pretty sure you didn't have time to hide them and chocolate is poisonous to dogs and cats don't eat it. The Prof is very busy - that only leaves one culprit - the finger points firmly at you!

  19. If the cat was good on a leash you could take him shopping with you! I will have the Professor home for 8 months on sabbatical starting in May. It is a good thing I am in the office 50 hours a week.

  21. An Albert post? Thank you John, thank you Andrew. And, of course, thank Albert.
Our cats view the car as a torture chamber. Never, ever to be voluntarily climbed into.

  22. I love that Albert and Winnie are besties.

Does your MIL find all the eggs? I have been having egg hunts for years for my children first and then my grandchildren. Still finding eggs in August is not unusual.

Poor little Albert...he just wanted to go for a car ride. You'll have to get him a car riding harness so he can come as well.

  24. Albert is a bulldog. Just ask Winnie.

I hope Dr Chris feels better soon.

Happy Easter! This is your first as a married couple.

  25. Yay, a whole post about Albert, I can't wait! He looks like our Tipsy (whom I flew back to SA from Tanzania with his brother, Topsy in 2013) We don't have yummy looking Easter Eggs like yours in our town. *sigh* xx

  26. I am with Chris on the eggs thing - I've got a pile fo them at home to take away for our long weekend with friends as I'm also on Egg Hunt duty (with rhyming clues and everyfink!) and the numbers are ever dwindling. Especially the posh marshmallow filled ones, ooooo they are better than sex!!

  27. LOL at Albert, he thought he'd got away with it! One of our very social cats once took a sneaky ride on the back of my step-dad's flat-bed truck (lorry) and step-dad was most surprised to be flagged down by another motorist who saw Mr Kitty sitting on the back while speeding down the freeway. Luckily, he knew better than to try to get off!

  28. Awww poor Albert, I bet he was all excited about a trip out with the family and you take him straight back home. You'll have to have a harness in the car for next time so you can safely leave him in the car while you walk the dogs.
