Now I risk sounding like my mother, when I say that Thursday is a good tv night!
I am afraid that is all over with now.......I used to follow the Scandanavian thriller " Fortitude" until it got overly wierd and up it's own arse in a bad " what the fuck is all this about?" Kind of way...
and " The Great British Sewing Bee" sadly finished it's third run tonight with an impressive finale between mature Air Hostess Lorna, familyman nice guy Matt and the army major Neil and it was a real pleasure watching nice people, be nice to each other whilst they completed nicely difficult tasks with biased binding...
In the end good natured Matt won the competition ........a civilised, easy going and surprisingly well received tv reality show about real talent

It was nice that Matt won but I really did NOT like his final dress. Would anyone truly want to wear that telly tubby dress? And you're right about Fortitude - it was gross tonight.
ReplyDeleteThey were all nice and I didn't mind who won it. But I didn't like any of the dresses. I have just been watching the Indian railways and Bangladesh too and thinking what nice people there are in the world and was thinking of writing a post on being nice but it seemed a bit corny so then I thought about putting a comment on Facebook about being nice to each other but then I'm always doing that, so in the end I did nothing.
ReplyDeleteAt least the thought was there Rachel!
DeleteWell i think the producers set them up with the finsl challenge demanding it was to be an avent Garde ( sp?) design...
DeleteBut what comes over , is the fact they are nice people.......
I know its not sexy, but i really do think we should have more of this kind of tv........
Nice people........
It was a good final. I didn't, though, like any of the final makes that much. I thought all the contestants were all fairly evenly matched tonight. My money had been on Neil from the beginning but he didn't do his best tonight for sure.
ReplyDeleteYes, a well-deserved winner and I love the end credits where you get to see what they've been up to. Masterchef has started again but that Greg Wallace gets on my one last nerve!(he's just remarried for the fourth time to an incredibly young bit stuff - can't think for the life of me what she sees in him!!). I also love 'The Good Wife'. She's so classy. It's been really good this season.Love your 'coach trip' pic on your sidebar. G'night, John-boy. x
ReplyDeleteG'nite nana xx
DeleteShe may just have had a glimpse of a bank statement. bad me
DeleteI wonder if PBS in the US will pick this up as they did The Great British Baking Show which we loved!
ReplyDeleteThis one looks good as well.
We have seen Sewing Bee on you tube. When bake off was bought by pbs is disappeared off you tube.
DeleteI've loved watching season three on you tube.
Eclectic in yer viewing tastes... The Walking Dead... Nice People Sewing...
ReplyDeleteNot a criticism, just a comment (this being a comment box after all).
Loved the series of the sewing bee but thought the final was an anti climax. How they could rubbish Lorna's use of tulle when in one of the early episodes it was raved over escapes me.
ReplyDeleteI love this show ( and Patrick ). We have just finished season 2 here in Australia so can't wait for season 3. I love the music also on this.
ReplyDeleteWow, a reality(?) program with nice people. We don't get to see anything like that in the US, at least, not on TV.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I'm on your site John the right hand side bar with the photos trembles constantly...it doesnt happen on any other site and its driving me mad....anyone else have this? or is it just my machine? As for nice people on tv? I agree...we all need more nice. I've tried to find the youtube speech but can't...is that the full address?
ReplyDeleteMust be just you libby x
DeleteI don't watch much live tv. We record so tv night as what I fancy off planner. Yes, maybe fortitude but as I'm behind it hasn't got weird. OH watches walking dead but I gave up a series ago
ReplyDeleteYes - I have been a dedicated fan John. Surprise winner last night but wasn't it lovely how friendly they all were and how they helped one another. I thought it was daft of Neil and Helen to go so 'far out' in their creations; I am sure that was what lost them the championship. But as you say Matt was so good natured and it was lovely to see him so overwhelmed - I think he was sure it would be one of the other two.
ReplyDeleteI have difficulty remembering that it is a knock out kind of show - ie each programme is a start from scratch, forget what they did in the past, as opposed to accumulate points along the way. So had to give myself a good talking to over the winner - who would not have won on accumulated points.
ReplyDeleteAgree about nice people, they helped each other out.
Can you sew John? I would love to watch you on one of these reality shows. We know you can cook - how about applying to be on TGBBO?!!!
ReplyDeleteI started watching Fortitude too thinking it was going to be really good ~ and gave up after episode 2 when the kid was put in the research centre with the pig. Too many plot lines ~ and yes weird was a good word to use.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more about Fortitude. That was exactly why we stopped watching as well. The plot just became unfathomable. And I couldn't care less about any of the characters.

ReplyDeleteI really will miss this show all the contestants were just lovely people. I thought Matt and his wife were very sweet when he won.
ReplyDeleteSorry John, I have just realised that I called Lorna Helen - apologies to her too.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching "Huff" On Netflix at the mo. free Netflix for a month. Unusual, you might enjoy.

I would have loved to see that show; as for Fortitude, I couldn't make it through the first show.
ReplyDeleteI was sent over by the amazing Ms. Moon. I will be adding you to my RSS feed.
ReplyDeleteI also loved this show, but my sister and I were both very puzzled when Matt won. We both expected Neil, or Lorna at a push if he really messed up in the final. I kind of want someone to explain it to me so it makes sense...
