The dogs, comatose when I was enjoying The Walking Dead this morning |
Message to self
When you own a bulldog who is on a strict diet
Always make sure that the dog feed cupboard has been secured when you go out
I got home this morning
Only to find that she had broken into Albert's dry "kitty scoffs" quaffing half the box, most of the cardboard packaging as well as wet mouthing a nearby packet of paper doilies
Mmmm, morning munchettes. She's cutting back though, only ate half the box, and cardboard has no calories surely?

Jean.. There was only half the box there
DeleteOh dear Winnie......its not easy is it ?!....
ReplyDeleteDieting is never easy; even for dogs.
ReplyDeleteMethinks a nappy is called for - after all that will Winnie be able to make it outside in time...?
ReplyDeleteWinnie and Suky are SO alike .... in their eating habits as well as their wrinkly faces. We have to watch the dogs eating like hawks, one of the others only has to step away for a breather and Suky is right in their bowl hoovering up whatever she can.
ReplyDeleteI managed to get half a kilo off her weight and Lovely Hubby slipped her a few tit-bits and yep, it's right back on there :-(
She's coping generally very well with the diet......me thinks Meg opened the door first and greed took over
DeleteOh and I meant to add, don't dogs just love it when you settle down to watch a bit of tele in the daytime, straight on the sofa with you for a nap. I guess it's a good excuse to down tools for a while if you can't move for furry bodies !!
ReplyDeleteWinnie is a cracker!
ReplyDeleteThe fat bitch!
ReplyDeletePerfect
DeleteShe certainly has the look of a dog who should be on a strict diet - but let's just hope she doesn;t develop a passion for Scotch eggs - otherwise both of you are doomed.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if she knew she was on a diet....she would have scoffed them anyway!
ReplyDelete(love it when you include pics of the welshies. Elsie is so much like them - in looks and habits.)
Poor girl...so hungry.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least she's getting lots of fiber in those doilies. :)
ReplyDeletenice that the dogs gave you some peace to watch WD...does Winnie like green beans? we always added them to dog food when they had to be on a diet...such a loveable gal...
ReplyDeleteI know how she feels
ReplyDeleteoh my!
ReplyDeleteJust be glad she's not big enough to stand up and pull things off the counter. When ever I see footprints on the backsplash I know mine have been investigating again.
ReplyDeletePoor Winnie! You are starving the poor little mite! I thought you were an animal lover - at least that's what I heard in the pub near Sheffield railway station!
ReplyDeleteMost of us know her pain.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain, Winnie. Losing weight is hard no matter what species you belong to.
ReplyDeleteSo, what did you think of the season premier of WD, John?
I loved it jennifer
DeleteExciting and fasted paced.......carol was a real bad ass
I can relate...a girl has to do what a girl has to do.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the doilies were desert after that fine meal?
ReplyDeleteShe figured she'd take advantage of the self-serve café that was open after hours.
ReplyDeleteSome of us are just never full. It's a difficult thing to live with.
ReplyDeleteAin't THAT the truth
DeleteOh, if I listed the things my dear Rosie has scoffed down, the SPCA would be at my door in a heartbeat. Though she doesn't normally eat the packaging. Once she ate a fortune cookie, leaving behind both the wrapper and the paper fortune, the latter in mint condition on the carpet. (No, I don't remember what it said...)
ReplyDeleteLooks content to me!!
ReplyDeleteShe's giving you a clear message that you're not feeding her enough, you cruel thing! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAt least she didn't eat Albert.
ReplyDeleteIf he smelled of chicken, she'd give it a go
DeleteShe looks like she's wasting away to me !! XXXX
ReplyDeletePaper doilies? You don't crochet your own?
ReplyDeleteOnly in the winter jan
DeleteWe had a sudden mad dash to hospital 30 miles away last weekend when hubby had his accident and we left a large bag of dried food - 15kg of it - in the hallway. I was astonished, when we returned home a few hours later, that the dogs hadn't touched it!
ReplyDeleteWas it opened?
DeleteNo, but it was in a bag which could have been opened easily. One of our dogs (they're gundogs) once climbed up on the kitchen work surface and helped herself to a cooked chicken breast which was cooling on top of the cooker! She then had the cheek to complain and whine because it was too hot!
DeleteShe was hungry !!!
ReplyDeleteDo Not let her up on the cleaned duvet and bed till it all goes through her pipes.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Chris will thank you.
cheers, parsnip
Fiber in the doilies.
ReplyDeletePerhaps she just wanted a cream tea?
DeleteOops. On the other hand, she probably had a longer nap than usual, with that fuller belly.
ReplyDeleteMore sleep than I had today....I feel terrible...and on catch up
Delete....
Time for another trip to the pedestrian crossing for a dump?
ReplyDelete(Winnie, not you... although preferably neither, of course).
One of the good things about being a dog, I suspect, is having no sense of vanity, I suspect (although perhaps Winnie has a false body image and sees herself as a slim slight Pekingese pup?)
She couldn't give a flying fu&k about ANYTHING
Delete...except food, sleep, warmth and a sweaty foot to knaw on?
DeleteBut not a care in the world about self-image for sure
Good for her...we all deserve a treat sometimes!
ReplyDeleteNo scones and tea with the doilies? You're getting sloppy, John. Winnie deserves better.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Gotta love that Winnie.... girl after my own heart.. if its open.... eat it lol except the paper doilies!! And we are more alike that I realised.. as I rarely give a flying fu&k about anything either... who knew!!
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
Dieting is a pain !
ReplyDeleteAnd she doesn't even look like she feels guilty. That's my girl!
ReplyDeleteYou go, girl!!!
