Not A Sausage

The heavens opened after a grey morning, and apart from a few faceless drivers I have not seen a living soul all day. No affable despot Jason shouting something disgusting through his dining room window, no auntie Glad polishing her glass fish in her front room, no animal helper Pat wanting eggs and no village elder Islwyn pottering around the Churchyard.
I haven't spied Ralph the gentleman farmer in his yellow pick up, Gay Gordon's invalid scooter is no where to be seen and even dog walkers Pippa, Mrs Trellis and Terry with his yappy Yorkshire terrier haven't shown their faces in the lane.
No Ann Malthoff out on her horse, no Sandra Cameron on her allotment and I haven't even had the opportunity to wave at Basil out on his usual sheep feed run...

  1. It is at times like this, when you seem to be the only person alive in the world, that it is easy to resort to a Scotch egg for comfort. Resist the temptation.

    1. I have just been proven to be a liar pat..... Just been up to the post box.......stopped by Islwyn who told me all about the new Tarmac repairs he managed to organize with the council workmen.
Said hello and chatted to Della from Pen y Cefn isa , waved at Wendy ( Rhodfa Arthur) as she popped up to the school and had the usual bun fight as Dr Barnsley stagger past with his bad tempered mutt .......

  3. I also have not seen a living soul all day. I tried my voice out a short while ago to break the silence and I thought how strange it sounded in the lonely house. The cats are sleeping. I feel lonely.

    2. I am not unhappy, just a bit lonely. I don't really mind my own company but it gets a bit funny not to speak to anybody from 7am until 6pm like it will be today.

  4. It's miserable here, too! I had plans to take the grandson shopping but we both decided to stay indoors... It may bode the end of summer ...

  7. Most villages in our part of Suffolk are like that ALL the time! Dead as a dodo because half the houses are blinkin' second homes!

  8. I can go a week without talking to anybody except the people who live with me. Cars pass on the main road and people wave but they never seem to have time to stop and talk. The countryside seems empty of people in the day time.

  15. Our weather is cooling off, too. November is the worst month for us - grey, rainy, melancholy. On those days I like to bake; it warms up the house, makes it smell delicious, and cheers us up. Ten pounds later, around January 1, it snows and we're good for the rest of the winter.

  18. I've only seen Praline the donkey and a few lizards today. That's kind of normal for this place.

  19. If I might whisper in your ear...."This could have something to do with personal hygiene. It is important for middle aged men to use an effective roll on deodorant to camouflage natural odours. Then you will find you are always surrounded by friends and well-wishers."
