Kill.....kill......kill them all!

I absolutely hate working two nights in a row over a weekend.
I never get enough sleep through Sunday
This is Because:-

The Church bell will invariably ring before eleven or three, depending on the service

The dogs down the lane will become apoplectic with hysteria when Pippa and her badly behaved mongrel bitch pass by

And the phone will go at least once during the day!

Add to this mix the huffing and puffing from Chris when he completes the most routine of daytime chores in my absence and we have a recipe for serial killing!
With me being the serial killer!

Happy Days!

  1. I hope you have got some serials in so you can kill them! "Cornflakes", "Shredded Wheat",..."Sugar Puffs"?

  2. I'm pretty sure lack of sleep is responsible for more than a few homicides through the ages. Get some insomniacs on the jury and no one would convict.

  3. YP notwithstanding, cereal won't help. How about a sane schedule? I'll talk to your supervisor, if you wish.

  4. I feel your pain. I've worked Friday and Saturday nights on my line for the last five years. I hate Sunday's.

I'm changing rotations, I just can't do it anymore. Working those two shifts destroys a huge chunk of your life.

  7. I'm at my worst when I'm sleep deprived.
Yes, those minor interruptions become so annoying.
All back to normal tomorrow :)

  8. At the risk of be a pedantic, I think it's 'mass murderer' you're contemplating, vs 'serial killer'. Unless you're going to carry on with it for some time.
    Cheers

  10. Insomnia and fatigue turn all of us into potential killers. I hope you find your calm centre soon. And some sleep. Uninterrupted sleep.

  11. Surely the church bells shouldn't be ringing at all? Aren't they destroying the peace of the sabbath?

  12. I'm totally surprised more nurses are not had up for killing sprees while persistently sleep deprived on nights. But maybe they are just good at hiding the bodies....?

  14. Put the phone on silent. If it is important a message will be left. My landline is on silent 24/7. No more cold calls. One problem sorted.

Welcome to my world! Saturdays, I work a "split", then I'm back on Sunday afternoon. The late, great Warren Zevon wrote the theme song for people like us.

Rig the church bell, unplug the phone, use earplugs, and invest in a sound machine.

  20. Eish, sounds like a recipe for disaster. I hope you managed to recoup your sleep debt, John.

I'd advise against serial or other killings, John. The sound of silence may descend on you but the rumblings of your conscience will keep you awake.

  24. Scheduling.... At least once a week I'm scheduled to only have 10 hours off between shifts... that's a big hit with the girls.

  25. A killing spree sounds about right when noise interferes with sleep...I've contemplated it a time or too...it's the huffing of Chris that cracks me up...one day of doing your chores and he's put out...men, honestly...

  26. You missed out the sound of Chris tutting. I 'tut' quite a lot and can recognise a 'tutter' when I see one.

I'll bet you 'tut' a bit on the quiet... come on now, you do, don't you?
