Becca....waving the welsh flag rather well I thought |
But Ruby crumbled slightly with the gloriously funny Welsh lass Becca just behind her before they galloped into the final challenge ( Ruby tearful & Becca a little more sanguine )
You could cut the sponge tension with a knife!
Who got kicked out?
Well Becca of course.....it was a forgone conclusion which was a shame.

Ruby....upset at her soggy bottom |
No one likes a big head but she does have the talent.....and a lovely smile
I now hope Ruby pulls it out of the bag.... But she is a mucky cow...... ( says him)
heck no JOHN. I am nearly throwing things at the TV. As we cant taste them, Ruby's efforts today looked the worst.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure I will bother to watch the rest. it has naffed me off again.
Now I would go for a pint with Glenn Howard Christine and Becca. But Ruby would drive me nuts. She is the one that would be crying at the end of the night about her boyfriend in the toilet.
(and rant over)
I actually thought Christine would win in the beginning ....
I liked Christine too
ReplyDeleteI like Kimberley. Nothing wrong with confidence.
ReplyDeleteEls
Actually you are right
ReplyDeleteI have said this before
But I suspect the producers are making her out to be the unpopular vote
That is until the final...... When we will see her normal side
It's all game playing....
Also she does have a beautiful smile does she not?
Ps have you noticed Kimberly has probably given the least screen time .....strange that
ReplyDeleteI like Kimberley too. I find her inspirational as I do Francis. Ruby drives me mad. She is like a petulant child with her bottom lip sticking out and I can't stand all the mess she makes! She has not wowed me with any of her bakes either.
ReplyDeleteYes but do you think ruby will date Paul?
ReplyDeleteKim doesn't do cooing sounds or sound bites during baking so she doesn't make good tv. She just bakes. I mean what does she think this show is about?
ReplyDeleteGood point....... It's all about image
DeleteThe bbc don't want Kimberly to look sympathetic
Oh crap. Didn't see it cos OH had the footie on. Gutted that Becca got ousted. Ruby and Kimberley bot get on my wick so guess I'll have to cheer on our local lass Frances
ReplyDeleteThere has been much debate about Ruby being fancied by Paul. He has said today that he finds Kimberley more attractive. Having seen her Opera cake, i would find Kimberley more attractive as well. How the heck Ruby got through tonight was beyond me-the whole episode had me gnashing my teeth at the mess she produced. :D
ReplyDeleteBecca should have got through.
Oh no, not Becca !!
ReplyDeleteI can't bear it.
Will have to catch up on two weeks before we are back home an can watch the final. God help us that the silly, simpering Ruby should win.
Oh John ..... you have disappointed me..... you would actually like a drink with ' turn on the tears ' Ruby? It's all a fix ..... Ruby's swiss roll thingy was awful and her Opera cake was a complete failure and the worst one. She should have gone and all I hope is that Frances or Kimberley win next week. If Ruby wins it has all been a complete waste of time !!!!
ReplyDeleteOooooo .... I'm mad !!!! How can I get this worked up over a baking competition ?!! XXXX
I think Ruby is nicer than the producers would allow x
DeleteI was also really naffed off. Hell did you see the state of her and her bench. She needed hosing down. and I don't think they should be allowed to see their faces when they taste it all. they should have to sit outside or facing the back away from the cakes when they are graded.
DeleteI actually ment KIMBERLY is nicer
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad I wasn't the only one who thought Becca was robbed! What are they thinking??I can't believe you'd have a drink with rubber-face Ruby and her Drama Queen antics. Kimberley is an ace baker.
ReplyDeleteNo, not Ruby. Anyone but Ruby. She is so affected, all that peering under the crazy hair and 'I'm a philosophy student, how have I got time to do all this?' Type of attitude. Either bake or don't, but stop being petulant. Wants a good slap, if it is a disaster, make a trifle out to it or put it in the bin. Which is where the brain cake should have gone.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to eat any of their goodies, no matter who wins.
ReplyDeleteI hear tell you say the same of me John "mucky cow"
ReplyDeletewell I never !!
There's a lot of speculation about Paul giving Ruby the eye but personally I quite fancy Francis. I plainly go for the "girl next door" with nice buns.
ReplyDeleteHave to say as well I don't think Ruby is affected or "turns on the tears". I think she is genuine - she plainly has low esteem and lacks confidence despite her looks; simply put she's very young. She shouldn't be judged harshly for that.
ReplyDeleteI can't agree.
DeleteThere were lots of girls like her in sixth form and at uni and at a time when most of us had very little confidence but would somehow get through, girls like her quickly learned that turning on the tears got results, especially in male-dominated subjects. Most of the male students and staff would fall for it and the girls got away with stuff the rest of us wouldn't.
What a horrible world we live in when tears and emotion from someone we have never met, do not really know, do not know the history and background of and who is appearing on TV for the first time are met with suspicion and cynicism and judgement.
DeleteFair point Steve! I think it's because we donot get to tast any of the fabulous bakes we all get grumpy and judgemental. Still, Ruby...
DeleteEls
Sorry Steve but if her esteem was so low and her confidence lacking in any respect, she wouldn't be putting herself up for a baking competition on national television!
DeleteApologies also to John for hijacking his post.
Hijack away nana.....anytime x
DeleteYes, apologies John! Who knew a baking competition could be so contentious!
DeleteAs to Nana Go-Go's reply: you seem to be saying that appearing on TV = confidence and extrovertism. I don't think that can be substantiated. There are plenty of regular TV stars and actors/actresses who are a mire of fears and low self esteem but still do their jobs. It doesn't follow that everyone who appears on TV is supremely confident. About all you can be sure of in Ruby's case is that her appearance on Great British Bake Off = a love and passion for baking; enough that she entered the competition and found herself qualifying.
Oooh Steve, you got dem 'ole Cosmic Ruby Blues!! LOL xxx
DeleteTo be honest Francis is the girl for me.
DeletePoor Becca! We thought she was brilliant...great fun, talented and the most human of the lot. Almost before it had started Mary and Paul seemed to have decided she was not for the final...and they really took agin her Opera cake even before she had begun the mix. Can't quite understand how Ruby got through, she had two disasters...and she's a daft, sulky woman. If I was her father, I'd slap her....she's my least favourite by a long chalk...I'd love to see Frances win, but suspect it will be Kimberley. I'll eat my (baked) hat if it's Ruby
ReplyDeleteAs I have said before, I don't get this programme here but, like all these successful shows, once they've run their course in civilised countries, we'll get to see them here.
ReplyDeleteClearly, Ruby is not anyone's favourite here but, just based on the photo, I think she's quite pretty. If she has confidence issues and needs a good dose of real life, perhaps she could come and cook in my restaurant?
What do you think, John? Do you reckon a few months with me would give her a new slant on life?
Francis or Kimberely to win. They are both so talented. Ruby just gets on my tits with her doe eyes and whining.
ReplyDeleteI can't possibly comment on Rubys messy ways in the kitchen, my kitchen looks like someone has thrown a grenade in when I'm cooking.
I would have loved Howard, Glenn or Christine to win...... Hey ho
DeleteI am a latecomer to this party, had to catch up on iplayer 2 weeks ago, inspired by your updates. Last night I was fuming Becca got kicked out! And not just because she is Welsh, honest!
