Nearly two days and a trip to the theatre, cinema, coffee shop,Borough Market,Brazilian eatery, fish restaurant later..I thought things couldn't get any better but they did.....Nuala remembering my fetish for skyscrapers treated me to a wonderful trip up the London Shard.....
My boyhood TOWERING INFERNO obsession was well and truly relived....hey ho.
My boyhood TOWERING INFERNO obsession was well and truly relived....hey ho.
That's amazing - you must have been up there about the same time as my mates parents - they said the snow was blowing upwards.
ReplyDeleteYou look so content being up there. So, what did you get at the market???
ReplyDeleteI *think* he got a brazilian.......
DeleteAte too much, tried the scores of food on sale... It's a delightful place
DeleteHELLO GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteGet some glassesX
DeleteWow...what a view.
ReplyDeleteThat would definitely tax the limits on my fear of heights.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Hey thanks for showing us the photos of you up the "Shard". You have reminded me of the 'shard' stuck up my butt for a certain biopsy on Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I want to go up that building. Enjoy your weekend, my friend.
Gary :)
I would not be there with you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time!
You look as content as a Cheshire cat in London towers lol ... ah I miss visiting London.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect holiday!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only way I would be up there is in an urn!!!!
Cor, lucky you. And Borough Market too....
ReplyDeleteI love how you co-ordinated your hat with her hair. Beautiful pair you are. PS Wish my name were Nuala. I'm thinking of changing it
ReplyDeleteYikes ! I should do that to get ready for New York ! You look like the cat who got the cream !
ReplyDeleteBrave man! Highest I get these days is the second rung of the step ladders my Mother gave me for Xmas - we're a practical type of family. Visiting is lovely but even better in the company of best pals. Enjoy. x
ReplyDeleteLondon is the BEST I think! Very jealous of your trip up The Shard, it looks amazing and vertigo inducing.
ReplyDeleteCrikey...not sure I could be comfortable with being up there but how wonderful of her to arrange it for you.
ReplyDeleteWow, way too high. Looks like you had a great time.:)
ReplyDeleteBorough Market is somewhere that I do actually love in the big city of my nightmares.
ReplyDeleteI see that thing out of the window at work - often with the very top shrouded in cloud. You wouldn't get me up it. I had to be carried down when I couldn't face the ironwork steps in the dome of St Pauls during a junior school trip, but the worst experience was in the mid-80's, when I was cajoled into a trip to the observation deck of the World Trade Centre. It was so smoggy, to see anything you had to look down. I was so uncomfortable with this I had to crawl back to the lift and wait in the street for everyone else.
ReplyDeleteNot literally with the towering Inferno I hope. Haven't seen that film for years. It came up in an argument with my mum as my evidence against studying architecture when I was eighteen. She won but eighties chauvinism out in the working world caused my eventual sidestep into the theatre instead.....she was NOT happy!
ReplyDeleteI am terrified of heights, but you do look as to be in your element with them. x
ReplyDeleteQuite the reverse cindy....I hate them....
DeleteBut the draw of skyscrapers never stop me
I would love, love, love to visit Borough Market....no Shard for me...can't do the heights. So happy you had a good trip!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful adventure.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an absolutely wonderful time! Thank you for posting the pictures - London has some very exotic features now that didn't exist for my only visit 40 years ago - the Shard and London Eye among the things I would still love to see!!!
ReplyDeleteNancy in Iowa
Envious-i really want to go up that :/
ReplyDeletelooking pretty spiffy for your visit to the "city"--thanks for the view from the shard!
ReplyDeleteIt's a glorious view isn't it? And the food at Borough is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOMG!! You stood right next to the window like that?! Did you back up to it so you didn't have to look down or have you gotten over your fear of heights? I'm very, very impressed.
