Beach Morning

Chris is away for most of the week, so again it's me and the animals and a bout of prolonged rain.
Before the bad weather closed in, I took the opportunity for a beach walk this morning

It never fails to surprise me that the Beach at Prestatyn is always so deserted
Although the town is really only a stones throw from the promenade, very few of the recorded 18 thousand population seem to make the effort to enjoy the miles of sand and sea .

Very odd.

Anyhow, the dogs enjoyed the gallop. Their obvious joy always makes me smile

Prestatyn Beach. just 2.5 miles away from Trelawnyd

  1. I would love to be so close to a beach, a darling friend of mine has just moved to darkest Ceredigion and has amazing beaches 30 mins from home. Me? About as far from the sea as you can get in the UK. Have a good week!

  2. Your doggies are so cute and the beach is gorgeous... it's always the same, though. People who live in an area are often the last ones to enjoy what it has to offer.

  3. Beautiful beach. We often take for granted the things on our doorstep don't we?

What a lovely long stretch of peace and quiet with only the murmer of the sea for company. I wouldn't be encouraging anyone else to use it.

  8. You know what John? The same is true here at our beaches most of the year except for summer. We can't quite figure out why the 'locals' don't frequent the shore. Puzzled!
Look at your dogs! All that open space to 'gallop' must blow their little minds!!

  9. They must be in heaven when they run along that beach John ....... complete and utter freedom for a while and then back to the comfort of the cottage for a kip and some good food......heaven. XXXX

  11. What a beach!

We're as bad. The sea, and beautiful cliff top walks, about a 30 minute drive and we don't go nearly often enough. Seeing those pictures (love the last one!), I feel a resolution coming on.

  12. Love the floating puppy in the last picture.....dogs really help with cheering up a situation, don't they! If your beach is like that then I figure there are many, many more on this planet the same way....our's is right now too! Actually it's all good....introverts love this!

  17. A beach to yourselves! Sounds like heaven to me.

  18. I used to live by the sea, and the town was directly alongside the beach but we hardly ever saw anyone walking there, apart from the few hot days of summer when it was packed tight with undressed bodies, mostly from somewhere else and not from the town!
Lovely photos. The dogs looked like they were enjoying the windy romp.

  19. I just love that action shot of George with all furry feet off the sand....made me laugh out loud. You can almost hear them all barking with joy. Lucky you living so close to such wonderful beaches.

  20. Your beach reminds me of Southport -- before the grass!

  21. I miss the beach. I lived in Laguna Beach for many (40) years before moving back to Tucson, from the ocean back to the desert.
George reminds me of my little black Scotty Kirby. I named her for the vacuum, everything on the floor was hers, the kids named her for the video game. Nice it worked out that way.
I love the feet off the ground running shot.

    cheers, parsnip

  23. Great photos. I took our second dog, a springer spaniel, for runs on the beach. We'd go early in the morning (rules were all dogs off the beach by 7 a.m.), and we never tired of going.

  24. For me, nothing is more relaxing than a walk on the beach and the sound of the ocean. That shot of "George off the ground" is hilarious. I thought you had brought one of the chickens along.

  25. Our second dog, also a Springer Spaniel, was brought up in Bispham (Blackpool suburb). He loved water and if the Lancashire news was on the TV and he heard a seagull on the transmission; he would do his best to get behind the TV to find the seagull. He left us 7 years ago, and we miss him to this day. Lovely dog, our Bob. Unfortunately, he was a 'car crazy canine' and we couldn't cope with driving with him in the car (on his way home from the Rescue place he took the dog guard to pieces in the back of the car and sat on the back seat howling all the way home - that's a lot of howling in 8 miles). Anyway, as he was nearing the end of his life, we decided to take him back to Bispham (ear plugs were deployed) and let him run riot on the beach and chase seagulls. He loved it!

    1. Luckily I made sure all of my dogs were taken in the car from when they were puppies
From an early age all they do is sleep x

    2. Unfortunately, Bob came to us as a three year old that had been thrown in the back of a van where no-one could hear him. We did our best, but this was a problem not of our making. You don't have to hit a dog to mistreat them, but we loved him to bits, even his faults.

  26. *Oh Happy happy joy joy!!* you can see it in their faces...love that shot of George doing "airs above the ground" in a doggie dressage-y way!

You are a God to them, do you know that? The mighty hunter who brings home good food for them to eat, the controller of the universe that brings them to the sand and sea, the bearer of good tummy rubs and scratches in places they cant reach...

at least im hoping that what dexterdog thinks of me LOL
