Post Loo Chuckles

why
do I find this funny?
Bugger alone knows,
But it did make me smile after a somewhat fraught few minutes this morning
when I had to "hover" over the loo bowl
(a skill only women have mastered in this world...am I right ladies?)
Sigh.......We are only a stone's throw away from being savages
are we not?

  1. It made me laugh, too, the clip - although not as much as imagining your butt hovering over the bog bowl!

  3. I got a much better laugh imagining you "hovering." I, also, have never understood how women manage that!

  5. Not a problem for French men...they are used to the hole in the ground public loos....

  6. Liked Will and Grace, couldn't stand that woman's voice though....

Hovering over the loo - an acquired skill. :-)

  7. sorry...read it without my scpecs, thought your comment on only ladies knowing how to hoover the loo bowl was a bit sexist...

Loved Will and Grace. Hovering???? Um....

  9. Will and Grace should have been titled "Jack and Karen, and Sometimes Rosario". Loved that show!

Re hovering, once you find the delicate balance between the soles of the feet and the bend in the knees it's quite a zen experience. At least you got a bit of exercise while "dropping the kids off at the pool" as my son likes to say.

  10. Savages? Speak for yourself John. Hover? What is wrong with actually sitting?

  11. No comment with Will and Grace.. But I think all boys regardless of age should set down when going to the bathroom. Less mess and no sprinkling on the seat..
    ta ta for now ~!

  12. Yip, we do a lot of hovering in Africa! It's not easy. When does the insurance assessor arrive and when will the loo be replaced? Just wondered...

How about replacing it with one of those Japanese loos that gives you a wash and blow as well?

  15. I only hover in public places....it's a lot less bovver.....and not good for you on a regular basis......unless you've been practising your pelvic floor exercises regularly!I love Will & Grace and Jack & Karen.

  16. If you have strong thighs, then hovering isn't too bad. The key thing is you must first make sure you weight is evenly distributed before you squat. And when you squat, squat straight down. It's too easy to wobble if you shift your weight forwards and backwards.

I wouldn't suggest trying this move in a walking cast if you're a beginner.

Bravo for learning this skill, John. If you ever have to take a ride on a long bus trip and need to use the loo on the bus, you'll be glad you know how.

  17. There are some public loos where hovering is by far preferable to sitting down. You learn that from a young age!

  18. I don't know what the price of toilets are in the UK, but here in Canada you can get one for under $100.00 dollars, and they are easy enough to install yourself. If you let insurance take care of the bill it will cost you way more in the long run with higher premiums.

Hovering definitely takes muscle control. After I hit 50 this proved quite a challenge so it's not recommended lightly! Love the blog, by the way!

or should I call you moogan?

  21. Surely it would be easier to do your "business" directly into the bath until a new toilet is fitted. May I suggest a retro chocolate brown or avocado lavatory bowl to make a style statement.

  22. Alot of hovering goes on in Asian toilets too. Its even worse on those because having got to the correct 'height' its so slippery underfoot with all the buckets of water used for cleaning that its almost impossible to get back up again without slipping down the hole. Not a nice prospect.
