Old Queen Brendan |
Apologies to non UK readers but this post will be a bit of a pure British television rant!
It was the semi finals of BBC2's Great British Bake off tonight and poor Danny ( the ITU consultant from Sheffield) was voted out because her custard filling just didn't set!
I know it sounds silly but I am beginning to hate contestant Brendan
He comes across as a pompous old queen (is the BBC making him into a villain?) and he is unfortunate enough to hint that he should be the winner of the bake off contest.......( a bit of a no no in cake making circlesI suspect)
Mind you he IS the best baker in the whole contest but, I must say that he is not a winning personality...........
........ he know nothing about winning over the general public...... which is a shame
anyhow my money is on the Scottish Geek James
who has a winning smile and a sweet, SWEET personality
James |
but stress-head John is a close second even though his petit fours were a pile of shite!
John |
I apologise again but I just don't like Brendan
I'm not keen on Brendan either....and I've just blogged about the Bake Off too!
ReplyDeleteIt is becoming an obsession!
Never seen this show John. Is it good stuff?
ReplyDeleteAll those photos look like they were taken at a BNP rally.
I so hate Brendan,he is so sure of himself, i just want him to completely mess it all up , but its not going to happen is it !! I really liked Danny because she was so unassuming. I am sounding like a complete bake off nerd now so im going to stop
ReplyDeleteMichelle I love youx
DeleteCan't stand Brendan John ...... he might bake well but he has no imagination or artistic skills .
ReplyDeleteIt has been James for me from the start .... John's a likeable guy too, but James has more flair.
I missed the petit fours as I got in late and my husband was watching bloody motorcycling !! XXXX
I'm tired of these kitchen/cooking "Survivor" shows - give me Jamie O or Nigella Lawson any day.
ReplyDeleteWe have a couple of very good Australian chef shows with the likes of Maggie and Simon (http://www.abc.net.au/tv/cookandchef/) and Kiwi/Australian Ian (Huey) Hewitson (http://www.lifestylefood.com.au/chefs/iainhewitson/recipes.aspx), or, Alive and Cooking's James Reeson (http://www.aliveandcooking.com.au/) who I enjoy watching and get much inspiration from.
Brendan's pride goeth before a fall, or whatever it is that cakes do when they go all soggy in the middle.
ReplyDeleteYour American coffee mug is awfully plain. I have a large assortment of stray mugs. Could I send you one?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand your post..Ms Sparrow, however makes sense to me.
ReplyDeleteJane x
I don't like Brendan, either. Obviously the man is a dope. (No, I don't watch the show but I totally trust you, John.)
ReplyDeleteEARL Brendan seems like a nice chap to me and he can bake the shit out of those two young bucks! Brendan is so methodical and passionate about his kitchencraft and if he got in a fight with you, you'd end up in ITU yourself - but not in a work capacity! He'd mash ya Earl!
ReplyDeleteBeing from the states, I do not know Brendan, but if you hate Brendan, I am are you are right to do so. Phooey on Brendan. However, there is an expression that nice guys finish last, so Brendan just might win.
ReplyDeleteBrendan's multi-coloured ginger-bread bird-house almost made me PUKE. I hope you're right about James, he's by far the nicest character! I fell asleep last night; so missed it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you all the way - James it has to be - although Brendan's concoctions are pretty good - I've got a feeling the judges don't like him either.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I come to blogs like this to get away from "reality" TV.
ReplyDeleteAh well, given you apologized in advance...
at least we only have to watch Brendan once a week on telly...can you imagine being stuck at one of his sumptious soirees...the only joy as you worked your way thru delicious nibbles would be all the old queens bitching about him as soon as he left the room!
ReplyDeleteAnd James has by far and away the best knitwear in Britain!
ReplyDeleteOh I missed it...I've been watching the series on Mass murderers ( Brendan does have a look about him - murderer of contestants on TV baking show ?)
ReplyDeleteBrendan is smug with a capital S - can't stand him.
ReplyDeleteBrandan reminds me of one of Catherine Tate's comedy characters: "ask to sample my cream horn?! How very dare you!"
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it Steve you are so right. How
ReplyDeleteFunny ! But you have to say his swans were amazing !
On another note I would like to thank the book fairy for yesterdays lovely gift. ( the book fairy being no other than the lovely Mr Gray, himself) .

ReplyDeletePompous and precious he is. I'm already anticipating Bake off cold turkey in two weeks....

ReplyDeleteHow funny! I was only saying the very same thing about Brendan to my daughter last night! He knows everything about everything too which drives me nuts! I was shouting at the telly. I'm sorry that Danni has gone - she was very self effacing and sweet. James will win, I reckon.
ReplyDeleteI'm Steve!
ReplyDeleteDon't apologise to me - I probably started the Brendan is sinister thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry too but I agree with you that Brendan is just too smug and I'm rooting for James :-) I don't know what I'm going to do when Bakeoff has finished. I'm a new follower and I just wanted to say I love your blog and your little dogs are soooo cute. Kind Regards Kay
ReplyDeletePhew, thought it was just me that wasn't keen on Brendan! Glad I was told about your blog by my friend Em (Dartmoor ramblings) I will be back! :)
