William, a dog with a personality as sweet as Gone with the Wind's Melanie |
We are blessed with good natured dogs. Not that a sweet nature is a mere accident of birth., animals like dogs that are nurtured well in a pack, more often than not develop a gentleness and sociability ideal for sharing a house with.
Welsh Terriers are robust, inquisitive and happy dogs. They also have a rather sweet habit of sitting and watching something that they are unsure of or have not experienced before. This behaviour gives them a somewhat benign demeanour and the "look"of an all seeing teddy bear.
Even though we live in the deep and green Welsh countryside, Trelawnyd is, in fact only a couple of miles from the sea as the crow flies (it is not an easy walk as we are around 600 feet above the coastal plain) The beaches are open, often deserted and ideal for dogs, as they can run and run until their tongues loll and their legs wobble

Is it George or is it a ventriloquists dummy? |
Beautiful photos of all of you. It looks like the perfect morning jaunt. My parents' now passed golden retriever loved, loved, loved the beach and the water. I believe it kept him healthy for nearly all of his 15 wonderful years. Never met a happier dog.
ReplyDeleteIf George is a ventriloquist's dummy, I dread to think where your right arm is!
ReplyDeleteDamn - you beat me to it, Shooting.
DeleteSend them here,please...I'll pay postage.

Love all your dogs! Such wonderful personalities!
ReplyDeleteYou are Bob Carolgees and I claim my five pounds....
ReplyDeleteWilliam is a sweetie! Now I know why George has that expression! Especially if you are a ventriloquist!!
ReplyDeleteDo you get to the beach often? Lucky that you have one nearby, John.....a great escape.
*sigh* I do wish our open beaches were like yours to let the dogs run, but ours are usually "packed" with people. I posted a little video on my blog which I think is something you could use for those sheep of yours? Loved the beach photos, thank you for sharing, John.
ReplyDeleteHappy dogs, and happy people, great shots!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely little dogs they are!
ReplyDeletethanks for the big dose of happiness this morning...
ReplyDeleteDogs are almost always as nice as their owners, John - and it is certainly so in your case. Have you ever read John Steinbeck's Travels with Charley? In it he says that dogs can read your mind - my dog certainly can and I guess yours can too.
ReplyDeleteOwners and dogs all look like absolute darlings!
ReplyDeleteLooks sublime...bet they drink the sea water too!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to be able to walk your dogs on the beach John ....... you all look as if you are having a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteMy Nan had a wire haired terrier and he used to sit outside the pub for her .....nothing much has changed in our family !! XXXX
Just love your dogs and how much fun it would be to take them to the beach..to run and run and get some fresh air and exercise.. My son took their dog to Lake Mighigan where you have to keep your dog on a leash.. Cost him $250 because his dog was not on a leash..
ReplyDeleteLove the video from cindy@northofwiaton "Run Rabblit Run".. didn't know rabbits could herd sheep.. Everyone should watch that video.. it was delightful..
ta ta for now from Iowa:)
George does have a surprised look on his face..
ReplyDeleteGreat weather today. Glad you enjoyed the walk on the beach. Good picture of Chris too, looking out to sea.

ReplyDeletewelsh terriers have become very popular all of a sudden, 3 people we know bought one this year, none of the puppies came from Wales tho :-)

ReplyDeleteGill
I think that our days with our dogs are the same, John--Just the view is different! I would so enjoy a trip to your beach, and I wonder who would enjoy it more, me or the pups--Again, just like you and your dogs!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was on that stretch of beach, I found thousands of cockles just below the sand. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteMy boys would love to join your two there for a good run. Open spaces and water... the perfect combo.
Lucky dogs with their vast beachy playgrounds!
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing about dogs. When they give of themselves they give their ALL. Unlike cats who, when they don't regard you as a nuisance (bless 'em), look on you as a means to their own comforts, be it as food-supplier or source of warmth.
ReplyDeleteDogs have the ability to APPRECIATE.
Great images, John. And, it looked like an (at least partly) sunny day! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI loved taking my dear Holly to the beach... she would have set up home there i'm sure if she were able... your dogs really do look sweet... lovely days x
ReplyDeleteI've often thought your dogs look like teddies, they're so sweet x
