The price of a pint of milk

What can you get for around 44p nowadays?
A pint of milk?
A cheap Newspaper?
A stamp?

No, Chris has just spent 44p on something for me and will continue to pay 44p a day for the next year on it!
What is it he has bought me, I hear you all ask...?
Well he has just bought me the best pressie ever....
He has paid the field rent for me
44p a day!
The best pressie ever!

Thank you! x

  7. Isn't it nice when someone gives you exactly what you want. My friend D and his partner P have just decided to give one another a monthly treat by taking it in turns to organise an outing somewhere - an outing which is a complete surprise. I think that is a lovely idea.

Hey John--I'm so sorry if you've already explained this before but for the sake of a puzzled American, how exactly does the allotment system work over there? I'm surprised to hear you rent the field as all this time I thought you owned it.

ps. It's hard to imagine a gift that would mean much more to you. Kudos, Chris!

  23. For 44 pence you could get 34 Indian rupees or 252 Zimbabwean dollars and at Lidl you could get a pound of best British lard - very nice in sandwiches.

  26. A litre of milk here is $2.50 and land taxes are 80 cents a square metre.

I'd say you're getting a good deal all round.

  29. Um, trying to fit 44p per day into a Canadian head.

Let's see: 44p x 365 days/100 = 160.6. So that would be £160.60. Fancy that. I got the same number as Cro did.

So, the next obvious question: what do you actually get for 44p per day?
