War Horse

We went to see the new Sherlock Holmes film this evening....and a cracking romp it was too!
I shall give a review of it tomorrow...but I will leave you with this trailer for the forthcoming Spielberg weep fest WAR HORSE, which proceeded the main feature this evening.
I can honestly say that this is the only trailer that has actually brought me to tears (I lasted until the 53rd second when the look on that horse's face literally finished me off)......Bugger alone knows what will happen when I eventually see the film.........
Watch and weep....... Spielberg is a master

  1. I would like to see this one, don't know if it will happen or when...

Watched the old "Marley and Me" this afternoon and got a good sinus cleaning...

  2. Yes! They've been pushing the advert on TV out here as "Coming to a cinema near you from 6th January!"

I'll wait until the DVD is available - I HATE cinemas!

  3. My lady can't watch weepy horse films. She cries at Budweiser beer commercials. Black Beauty nearly killed her. Tee hee hee.

  4. Yes, you have to hand it to Spielberg, but I'm glad that Ardman backed away from DreamWorks. War Horse was made mainly around Bath, but I am looking forward to Sherlock more - maybe it's because of the hat...

  5. I already know I can't see it. Read an interview with the Aussie woman who trained the horses.I know I couldn't bear it just as I cna't bear the story of what happend to all those beautiful horses who were shipped from here. My home city has a memorial marble horse trough to commemorate them!We take our horses very seriously!

  6. My hubby always teases me when I cry for shows or movies. I don't plan on seeing War Horse.
I'd need a couple boxes of tissues...

  8. tom, sherlock is a cracking watch......not as good as the tv series, which I am glad to hear is returning soon... but in itself...it is a romp of a film.....and as far away from the stories as you could get...

  11. My grandfather and his two brothers were in the Royal Horse Artillery (sp?) in WWI.They were all on the same horse/gun carriage team. My two great uncles were killed with their horses, my Grandfather survived. I will not get through this movie, I just cannot watch it.

Will eventually see on Netflix...with lots of tissues handy! I want it to have a happy ending, gather from everyone's comments that this is not the case!

  14. I am looking forward to seeing both. However, I want someone to see War Horse first and let me know if the horse is still alive at the end. I love tear-jerkers; I just can't handle it if the animal dies.

I knew best not to see Marley and Me because I remember vividly seeing Old Yeller when I was small. Still taking anti-depression pills because of that one.

  18. George's grandfather worked with horses during WW1. He had terrible nightmares about what happened to 'his horses', until the day he died.
    I won't be watching it.

  21. The play reduced me to tears...not sure I can cope with the film...

  22. Agreed, John. I get so teary when I see the trailer that I'm not sure how I would react to the whole film. Go see it first for me, and then let us know the "sniff" or "blubber" quotient.

  23. John I am afraid I cannot watch the trailer and maybe even the movie. I am afraid I will start sobbing and be unable to stop.

Regarding Sharon's comment about Marley and Me... I was reading the book during a flight and when I got to the end I began to sob. On the plane. I was travelling alone. It was the Ugly Cry as Oprah would describe it. Interesting to cry on a plane. My fellow passengers did not react at all.

I've not read "Marley and Me" although i know the premise, and yes, i sobbed when i read "Old Yeller."

I'm sure it's a wonderful film, but i cannot watch it.
