Time for a nap

I am at that age that when faced with the rare opportunity to have a little sleep-et in an afternoon..I grab it with both of my sweaty little hands!
We went out for ham and eggs for lunch, returned home......and the next thing I remember was waking up from under a pile of dogs and the duvet!
what next?
Watching Countdown in the afternoons?.........telling everyone I meet that "I'm 49 you know!"?
Sigh...I am getting old!

You're not getting older, just sensible. Naps are a good thing.

  2. I have tried to nap....doesn't work for me. 49?? Why you are still a pup.

  3. Why is it we blame this on age? I'm sure I napped when I was 20! I know I slept in until noon. I'm sticking to my version of reality.

  4. A 10 min 'power nap' after lunch is essential. Miss it and I'm lost.

  5. Mr.T and myself have at least 1 hour's nap every afternoon. Without it we would not make it through the evening.
Not in a chair but full length on the bed, it relaxes everthing and gives you a new start.
I'm hoping we have found the elixir to a longer life. lol

  6. I can't sleep at night much less take a nap in the afternoon!

The chickens made it just fine through Hurricane Irene. The roof of what I thought was the chicken coop was the corner roof of a barn. We've still got the rest of the hurricane season to come. I hope they all stay out to sea. Thanks for thinking of us here in the eastern US. It seems like the weather around the world is a little off kilter these days.

  8. It is not an age thing, I am in my twenties and I nap every Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes both.

  9. Naps are a wonderful thing to do.. Revives one so I can get something else done. I take a nap everyday..
I'm 1/2 way to 134 so guess I'm getting valuable. We don't get older we get more valuable.
Sorry about Constance, it's so sad when a loved pet dies. She was a dog with adventure.
The movie theater is something I hardly do anymore. Americans don't know how to quit talking, or they sit and tell the person they are with how the movie ends.. GRRRRRRRRRRR~!
I rent the movie and stay at home.
Have a Tiggeriffic Day~! ta ta for now from Iowa:)

  10. Chuck's 49 too. I wonder if he'd be less crotchety if he took more naps.

IIIII'm happy to have a rare Saturday off. And enjoying every minute of it :D

  11. After a very busy morning - shopping then gardening - I had a shower this afternoon and took the opportunity to have a 'Granny Nap' that extended to an hour and a half! Heavenly!

  12. Nooooooo! It's not an old age thing napping in the afternoons, it is the wisdom of the years which says that one needs as much beauty sleep as one can muster up in the twenty four hours of the day!

  13. John,

you're not getting old until you...

I forgot what I was going to say.

Think I'll go and have a nap.

  14. I love naps but I can't always get my mind to wind down. When I do though I feel SO much better. So enjoy your naps John and don't feel guilty!

  15. Think of it as 'power napping' John. That way you get two days for the price of one!

  16. I agree with Vera - it takes the years of wisdom to understanding that napping is good and appropriate. Sort of like flossing and the importance of a good moisturizer on your toe wrinkles. Oh wait - that last one might . . nevermind, strike that last one.
    Enjoy the well-earned nap!

Naps are grand. I've been taking them since ... well, forever (maybe not so much in my 30s).

  18. Had a three house siesta yesterday, that's not because I'm 49, but it's because I'm 50 next year!

  20. Just recently learned to appreciate these little naps in the afternoon. You think you like them at the young age of 49! Wait till your 60's! Amazing how rejuvenating they can be.

  21. One of my very favorite things about getting older (I've yet to meet anyone who was getting 'younger') is TAKING NAPS.

Sometimes I'll lie down for a nap just because I CAN!

    Happy Dreams...

  22. I have to chickle at the thought of you telling people you're 49 like that :) I love naps but I wake up grumpy :(

  27. A story about my parents springs to mind John. They were chapel goers and when they went one sunday evening an elderly man was already sitting in their pew (shock, horror). When the first hymn was announced he couldn't find it in the hymn book and my mother offered to help him. "Thank you," he said, "I am 72 you know." My mother replied,
"My husband is almost 80 and he still finds his own hymns." The man leaned forward to look at my dad and said,"Yes - and he looks it."

  28. Naps are wonderful, and the young just don't appreciate them. Hmmmm, yawn, time for one right now.

  29. John, i don't think it's so much age, as you are a very busy person, so grabbing a chance to relax and have a lie-down seems just the thing to keep your batteries charged.

You've also had an emotional last few weeks what with the let down of after the flower show and fundraiser, plus the sudden demise of dear Constance. I find i need more sleep after such emotional roller coasters.

I don't nap well. I can on occasion, but often i sleep too long so then have trouble falling asleep that evening, or wake up with a headache. The first nap of the year, i was rudely awakened by an acquaintance when i was 12 minutes into a 75-minute nap (i had set the timer to go off in 75 minutes so i'd get up and finish my chores). The second one of the year was far more successful, and one of those after an emotional time moments.

  30. How come I see so many old ladies with shopping baskets on wheels but never any old men? Do they never do the shopping or are they too proud to show any physical weakness?

Don't worry, a little nap in the afternoon is said to be very revitalising whatever your age.

  31. Been napping forever it seems...I feel so clear headed and rejuvenated...only if I sleep the right amount of time....too long~~~give me time to come around and be civilized...20 minutes to 1/2 hour that's all I need for the best results.

  32. Lol. 49. *shakes head*
My Granny napped every afternoon for all the years I knew her.
I have tried it, but I am usually more tired than when I laid down.

Enjoy your naps with the live doggie blanket. :)

  33. You'll be listening to the Archers next LOL
I converted my husband, he's only 45. To the Archers I mean, not to natural gas or anything!
Mind you he's got plenty of that.
Wish I had ham and eggs today, we had a "roast beef" dinner at the pub, it was the worst meal I've ever eaten :-O

  34. John you are officially an old fart LOL
