Why I love New York
This photo from a Manhattan dog park sums up New York so well Its been three years since we last went and its been too long!!!! Chris and I have visited the Big Apple more times than I care to remember and I miss it so
What a lovely photograph John - they do love their dogs. My first visit to New York began with a bus journey over a bridge and as we saw the NY skyline come into view the driver put New York, New York - Frank Sinatra - on the radio. There was ot a dry eye on the bus! There is nowhere quite like it in the whole world.
I was born in NY and lived there for the first 16 years of my life. I could not understand what was so great about it at that time. I longed for the country life, seeing that as "more fun". I live about 2 1/2 hours out of NYC now and visit occasionaly. As soon as I hit the city limits, the adrenalin starts pumping and I feel great excitement. Not sure I would want to live there again, but wish I was rich enough to have a small apartment there to visit on weekends. I think the city is still in my blood and even after all these years, I still call myself a New Yorker.
It's been more than a half century since I was there. Wish I could visit again, if nothing but to pick up some cheesecake!

ReplyDeleteYes, John, when is your next visit? Mark and I want to stalk you! lol
Love the 'anticipation' from the terriers as they keep their eye on the ball - ready to fly as soon as it leaves the big guys hand!
ReplyDeleteGo on, give Teronna (Toronto) a try, you won't be disapointed!

ReplyDeleteI can fully appreciate why you and most others love it, but I don't get it. I went once, hated it and couldn't wait to leave!

We're only four hours away from NYC but haven't visited for over a year. Love that town but ouch...so expensive!
ReplyDeleteGotta love a big man who loves small dogs. Tugs my heart.
Bagels from Times Square.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I can just see my 2 ruffians duffing up all those little dogs :-O
ReplyDeleteNew Yorkers have a reputation for being in-your-face rude perhaps, but they also know how to embrace life and live large. No place like it!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in New York. sadly it was New York, Tyne and Wear - just along from North Shields; hardly Manhattan!
ReplyDeleteHey, but it woz geet lush like, as they say up north, pet!
Next time you visit New York, make sure you see some of the rest of the state, too. The contrasts will amuse you, I think.
