Badger and Camilla (still together)- I was going to take Delores' advice and photograph them |
I took several of you kind bloggers advice and planned a gentle head clearing , so, and with Classic FM on the headphones and with gardening clippers in hand, I told myself to stop feeling sorry for myself and "get over it" with a long bout of weed clearing.
As it happened, it was the good folk of Trelawnyd that bucked me up. The Red Faced Welsh Farmer , chuckling with delight at some piece of farming gossip he had heard, stopped his land rover by the gate and bundled a large present of wild mushrooms into my lap without wanting anything in return
The lady from the still house, who had lost her dog recently called around with a kind gift of all of her old pet's food and treats..and as I trundled the dogs out for their walk, Jason, the part time baker, slowed his car, opened his window and called out playfully
"Get blogging soon! if you don't I will have to buy a bloody paper!"
But not surprisingly it was 92 year old Gladys that made me smile the most today
Beaming with pleasure she made a point of letting me know just how much she had enjoyed the Flower show on Saturday . Even though she had helped run the past 38 shows, she chirped that this one had been the best ever!, which was so kind of her.
As I left her house she pressed a dozen neatly wrapped scones into my hand with a smile
"Thank you" I said
"You're welcome" she said laughing gently and as she touched my face with her hand she called out sweetly
"Don't thank me..... Thank The Lord!"
Bloggers' Block?
pah!
I remember going down this road, John. Recently I think, just can't remember when, LOL! Glad to have you back. I love the fact that people read your blog instead of the papers. And Gladys sounds so sweet. What lovely friends you have. Jo
ReplyDeleteSo all it takes is a dozen scones to cheer you up? You're a cheap date, I'll give you that. A way to a mans heart and all that... :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to keep a good man down.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Gladys :o)
ReplyDeleteLovely story John and after all the bad things that have happened in the news lately it is so refreshing to hear about such lovely people (yourself included of course!). Glad you haven't got bloggers block as you always cheer my day up.
ReplyDeleteJo xx
God, you're a lucky bastard! (Seriously-not derogatory)
ReplyDelete(And more especially so with those mushrooms. Oh how I love them and even treated myself to a grilled portabello last night for dinner! You never did say how your experiment in growing mushrooms a few years ago, turned out).
Glad you are feeling better!
meggs.xx
What a lovely place you live in!
ReplyDeleteOK, so the atheist has tears in his eyes. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteYou do seem to have some lovely people in your life! It's days like this I yell out a "Thank You" to the sky, just to be sure whom ever IS listening knows I am paying attention ;)
ReplyDeleteThat was a short break! God bless Gladys. What a treasure.
ReplyDeleteI get bloggers block if nothing in particular happens during the day, or if there is nothing controversial in the newspaper etc. But there is no sin in missing a day you know, John. I think you are so lucky living inside a village - our farm is about a mile from the village and that makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that the goose and the hen are still getting on well. I hope it continues - I did have a goose that killed a hen, so do watch out for signs of agression.
Doggone it, I'm ready to pack it all in and move to a village, where neighbors still know how to be neighborly. On second thought, we've got too darned much "stuff" to even consider a move, so I'll just have to make do with enjoying your way of life vicariously.
ReplyDeleteTwo posts in seven hours. That's not bad for someone with blogger's block!
ReplyDeleteJohn, I'm beginning to think you actually live in the taff version of Trumpton, Camberwick Green or some imaginary place where everyone is just so nice and only nice things happen.
ReplyDeleteAny properties for sale around there?
Preferably not a ratty old chicken coop...
chris
ReplyDeleteBelieve me
there ARE nasty things around certain areas of this village) but for my own safety (and that of my hens) I will not divulge
I am not kidding!
John - nasty things happen in all the villages but it's the others like Gladys who make life so much better.
ReplyDeleteHmmm! I haven't put up a 'personal post' for a while - just not had anything worthy of remark, but I'll make an effort soon.
ReplyDeleteHi John
ReplyDeleteglad the show went so well, my bloggers block is down to one thing...........bloody work, too knackered when I get in and the weekends go so fast...joys of the NHS
Jane
Oh John, we were in a sort of anticlimatic frame of mind ourselves at the end of last week, but people kept on stopping by to have a chat and donate apples and peaches for the pigs, which helped us break through that wall. I think that on these occasions the Universe acts to bring people to us, and like lovely Gladys says to do, I do indeed 'Thank the Lord!'
ReplyDeleteA lovely blog... I have really enjoyed my browse.
ReplyDeleteI want to live in your village, tis nothing like miserable Buckley at all.
ReplyDeleteJohn
Not to get all "biblical" on ya John but you get what you give in life or...ya got some good Karma going on there. Nice.
ReplyDeletesweet of you to say camille
ReplyDeleteWelcome back -- it's been so long I hardly recognised you!
ReplyDeleteeveryone'S A COMEDIAN!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late, the bleep wireless is not being kind to me at all! Ok, so no blogger's block - Time to start that book? I bet it would be a big seller! :-)
ReplyDeleteWell you weren't blocked for long! Surprised you didn't mention the Blogolax course you have just finished.
ReplyDeleteThat settles it, I'm moving to your village.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. My son was visiting a couple of weeks ago and when he was leaving he rolled down the window and yelled " get to blogging." You are doing wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou are a dear soul John, and so many people appreciate you.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteBloggers Blocks build beautiful bridges... Cro Phd.
ReplyDeleteScones!!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great village.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up. We wouldn't want proplr going back to Rupert's press!
Kindness has a way of traveling back to you.
ReplyDeleteOh yes...I can relate to this John. I like the fellow who stopped to tell you to get writing or he'd have to buy a paper LOL! Aunt Glad's scones was the best though...what a sweet lady. I hope your day has been a good one so far.
ReplyDeleteMaura :)
I love these two...Badger and Camilla. They've kind of taken over in my heart from the ghost hens.
ReplyDeleteGlad your feeling back to your normal self. That was a hell of a schedule you were on for the last few months!
