The weather has turned again, torrential rain has flooded much of the field, and I have spent the last few hours filling the coops with warm dry sawdust to comfort the wet animals after a day foraging.
This is a brief "instruction" video to city slickers on "How to keep your hands warm without mittens"
(The hat is Chris')
Tonight we are off to see Black Swan.....
I noticed you have the "back end" pointing away from you. Smart move!
ReplyDeleteAnother great video John! I'm looking forward to other video lessons on how you can utilise chickens when you're desperate.

You're lucky that hen didn't take a hunk out of your hand! I think I prefer the staying inside and having a cat on lap method.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks miserable. You really have been getting hit hard this year.
I LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteOh John, you made my day! You look smashing in the cowboy hat and it cracked me up every time you looked down and the water runs off of the brim (poor hen!). I must admit, I prefer "wool mittens" (ie: my hands buried in a lovely Shetland fleece!)
Wishing you sunshine!
It does help to have friendly hens too! Thank you for the cute video, and for taking the time during that pissy weather to make it! I do hope the world straightens out and we can all have some kind of normalcy!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video John and the lesson. Don't you just love how warm chickens are under their feathers. Sorry to see your weather is so crappy...I'm afraid I'd get 'down in the dumps' if I had to put up with all that rain. We here in Kansas may be HOT in the summer and COLD sometimes in the winter but one thing we do have...is LOTS of sunshine. I hope you have a better day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteMaura :)
Can't get your clip to play ...can't wait to hear what you think about Black Swan !
ReplyDeleteHaha! Very useful, thanks. Looking forward to the next video lesson!
ReplyDeleteOh you so made me smile, even though you were sodden! But how did you catch that chicken! Great idea about warming the hands, but to get near one of our hens, then pick her up, and then clamp my frozzled hands under her wings, is not do-able with our lot. Unless they are dopey with sleep, but then it is dark and I am indoors anyway! Your must be very well trained!
ReplyDeleteOh, if only we could have heard the Belle's thoughts during the lesson.... There is nothing that looks quite so miserable and pissed off as a wet chicken.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your Signs of the Apocolypse weather. Sending wishes your way for sunny skies and light spring zyphyrs...
Now you tell me, after spending a fortune on very fancy mittens!
ReplyDeleteWish I'd had a nice fat hen the other night while trying to shut off my water outside the house in -25F.

Oh Man, Did I send the wind over to you? I am sorry first time in days we have walked completely upright. LOL

Love that hat!
ReplyDeletewheres the finger holes for the new feathered gloves.
ReplyDeleteSorry not posted for a while, you know the reasons hope your well
Love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat video John!
ReplyDeleteMy dogs make excellent foot and lap warmers here on the couch... No reason why a hen shouldn't also do her part.
ReplyDeleteJohn, your day seems a lot like mine was except I didn't have a chicken to keep my hands warm!! THANKS for a much needed grin at the end of my day!
ReplyDeleteAnd there we were thinking that perhaps spring might be just around the corner! Mittens that lay eggs - quick register a patent!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be funny if everyone walked around with a chicken hand warmer instead of gloves?! Look forward to your hat video. hehe.
ReplyDeleteHi John
ReplyDeletewell it looks like thanks to you the girls do have a purpose seeing as though they can't be bothered to lay!
Unfortunately I lost one of my speckedlys this week whilst away, best start looking for a couple of replacements :)
Jane
Hope it worked. And I hope the weather is nicer today.
