One of my favourite art deco ceramics a Denby terrier
Maura and Iris asked me to post a few more photos of the cottage interior and our paintings. I couldn't quite manage to photo the watercolours adequately with my crappy camera so have snapped a couple of the "neater" areas!

The Old Lady Bedroom

The "Miss Marple" bookcase and chair

The Tiny arts and Crafts desk by the front door
The spare bedroom and office ( it's never this neat usually!)

I have to allow myself a short chuckle......as I have made sure you have not seen the "adventure playground" which is the kitchen complete with tons of wet washing, smelly dog blankets and muddy paw prints
Right off to walk the dogs and then off to the hospital to see my brother..thanks again for your many best wishes

  3. What you need to do is call the producers of "60 Minute Makeover" right now. They will transform your museum-like property, bringing it up to modern day standards. After all, this is 2011, not 1911!

  5. Hey Pudding, I like the 1911 look...

    it looks so comfortable!

If you updated everything to 2011, you would just have to redo it all in 2012 when fashion changed and I have it on good authority that the 1911 look is coming back. John is so fashion forward...

  6. I love the feet on the Miss Marple bookcase.

I know you've already got a (well deserved) blog award but if there was one going for 'Best Header' I think it should go to you.
It cracks me up every time I see it!

  7. Oooo John you've made my day! LOVE the wall paper and steeply pitched ceilings ...iron bed...dresser...bookcase...chair...sigh. I see the top of the grandfather clock in the mirror...PLEASE show us a picture of that one day when you feel up to it..pretty please. The desk in front of the window looks like a wonderful spot to write a letter or even sip a cup of tea and watch the world go by. I see the cute doggy draft blocker in front of the door ...at least I think that's what it is. Just as I thought your cottage would look...cozy and inviting...sort of like you John ;)
Hope you had a good walk with the dogs and a nice visit with your brother. Thanks very much for sharing your cottage with us...loved it.
    Maura :)

  10. Thank you so much for posting the pictures! When I go to other people's homes I often want to know where they got this or that piece and what was the experience like. I think that you have a beautiful cottage! If you wake up one morning to find the "Miss Marple" bookcase gone then just know that I made a midnight visit and took it! (And you're not getting it back, either!) I love those huge round ball feet. Thanks again!

  11. The "Old Lady" bedroom?

I think it's lovely and would be quite pleased to rest my weary bones there. Then again, I AM an old lady...

    ;-)

Hi John--I haven't been by for a few days and missed the news about your brother's hospital visit. I'm SO glad to hear that the procedure was successful and that he's in your unit being cared for by those you know and trust! I'm holding him in my prayers and indeed, all of your family. Here's many thoughts of strength and vitality, healing, and patience coming your way. :-)

  18. What a delightfully charming and cozy home! It makes me want to grab a good book, a hot cuppa and curl up and pretend to read. In reality, I'd just be charging my batteries.
    It also makes me miss
    Thistle Cove Farm.
