William (sans eyes) Constance and I, getting warm after being out in the garden |
She only seems to come alive when she thinks you are about to treat her with some nice titbit, or ( and more importantly) you are about to cuddle her or kiss her huge foolish fat face!
Constance loves to kiss you back.
It isn't one of those wet sloppy kisses, hounds have a tendency to give humans, no Constance will heave her massive face within a millimetre of your own then slowly and deliberately squash her face against yours as she wheezes like an asthmatic without ventolin.
She seems to take great delight in this oddest of practices
I have mentioned before that her advances feel a little like getting sexually molested by a furry Buster Keaton....but what I didn't say, is that these "kisses" are rather fun and completely pleasurable!
Having her literally "in your face" does have the feeling of being totally enveloped...and is reminiscent of the feeling you used to get when you are cuddled by a parent when you were a child....
My grandpuppy, Miss Daisy, loves to do this too John...only marginally more than flipping herself around to place her rear end squarely in your face to be scratched!
ReplyDeleteAnd she appears to make a comfy pillow.
ReplyDeleteConstance is adorable! We had an English Bulldog when I was growing up. His name was Jake. He didn't care what we did to him as long as it didn't involve him having to "fetch" anything. He always took naps with us. What wonderful memories, thanks.
ReplyDeleteAww John what a cute picture the last one is. I hope your weather is warming up although from the pictures it doesn't look like it. Stay warm and enjoy those new mitts and cozy snuggles from the gang when you come back in. Maura :)
ReplyDeleteawww how cute are you guys!

ReplyDeleteyou are sooo right
lol
She's a sweetheart. At first I thought she was going to be more of Chris' dog, but it looks like she's sharing the love. Good girl!
ReplyDeleteHmm, no exercise and flatulence - she would fit well with our family! haha
ReplyDeleteI like Williams face too.. blind pleasure! Constance looks and sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteIf THAT isn't love...then I don't know what is :)
ReplyDeleteDear John, This is a definitely different way of wearing a fur coat....essential for our present subzero temperatures!!!
ReplyDeleteAwe, you two favor each other more than a tad. LOL
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
Mal
Aww, Constance loves you. How sweet that she has so quickly made herself her own special place in your household.
ReplyDeleteI love how you describe the way she kisses you!
ReplyDeleteHi John, thanks for coming back to my blog. I, of course, will never forget you (due to that incident in the pub when you were young that you so eloquently discribed a long time ago). Some things have a way of sticking in my brain. Constance has a most adorable face. I would love to get to snuggle with her. I have a Samoyed who is also big on kisses, but mainly ears!--Inger
ReplyDeleteahh so the Bulldog has the flatulence like a Boxer, who is known for being able to clear a room ROFL... guess those pushed in faces just some how lend to the other ROFL...
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of ya'll!! Constance is sure a cutey!!
It's hard to imagine that there was a time when you didn't have Constance. I'd say that she has found her niche quite well.
ReplyDelete;-)
What ever makes you smile!
Looking quite at home!
ReplyDeleteJohn, you have got to stop this! Too cute beyond words!! And Constance isn't bad either!
ReplyDeleteJim
I must say, I don't know that I've had the pleasure of that kind of snog... Most of the "puppy kisses" I've received are from dogs with tounges nearly as long as they are, trying to envelope me in same...
ReplyDeleteCat
what a face!! what a face! just want to squeeze it and roll it all around. ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThat second photo is priceless. What a big round head Constance has! She is totally adorable.
ReplyDeleteMolly, our beagle, doesn't lick your face, she just sniffs you, quite strange really.
ReplyDeleteI really want a Constance.....

I've just used your blog for research! Being reminded that you are or were? a bulldog man. Cousin in Belfast warning that we will be sharing her with a bulldog during our visit in December. Do we mind? Kitty's not very comfortable around dogs but has done a bit of her own research, and thinks that as long as this is a 'general' bulldog, as in 'they are generally docile,' she is old enough now to give a dog a go. But this non-sloppy kissing is something she hadn't uncovered, nor the farting...
