"I'll admit I may have seen better days, but I'm still not to be had for the price of a cocktail, "(Margo Channing)
we show people a new way to dream
I was listening to my mpeg (whatever) today and one of the songs was a broadway show number ( I forget the title but it was a Sondheim piece I think) sung by a theatrical "dame" it was in essence, a song about the theatre, and it's final line wss something like the above title, "we show people a new way to dream".
The line made me think of the power of the moving picture. I have always been a fan of cinema, mainstream, arthouse anything!!! I lap it up, and this week has been rich pickings seeing that I have been off work.
so in a matter of days I have held my breath with the survivors of POSEIDON,
painfully watched a family fail to communicate in JUNEBUG, yawn myself silly with THE DaVINCI CODE, and be stunned by the horror of 9/11 in UNITED 93.
How lucky we are , when we go to the cinema,... for 2 hours we get whisked away and experience in many ways profound , never- to -be -repeated life changing events.
...perhaps I am a filmed out.........................................................
