Wave The Flag eh?

I was heartened by the good residents of Brighton for running off the racist right wing demonstrators in their city recently. It was not only the right thing to do, it was a kind thing to do. It was a kindness to all the people of Britain who are not Caucasian white.
It was a hand hold, a hug, a nod and reminder to those frightened and often disadvantaged right wing supporters that not everyone think that they are right
During the First World War some 4,500 Belgium refugees were given sanctuary in North East Wales. And even Trelawnyd billeted families at the Village Hall. Not bad for a predominately isolated Welsh village.
I was only thinking about this yesterday when I drove up to the village, and just before entering Trelawnyd I noticed a small holding on the right which sported a flag at its gate.

  1. Kindness. That's all that is needed. Why some people find that so difficult, I'll never understand. xx

I’ve had to read about the backstory of protests in Ireland which sound like fuelled hate from the Deep South here

Let’s all stand up to negativity

  3. Kindness is a two way street. We rarely hear of prominent people of colour or Muslim calling out the crimes of their community. Even sentencing is different.

Here in Canada we have the Gladue Law which has caused problems in sentencing due to turning it into a First Nations v. the rest of country when it comes to sentencing.

I worry about the gay community when intolerant religions gain power.

Again it falls back to hate the sin, not the sinner and recent crimes seem to protect sinners

  4. It was heartening to read of the counter-protest. It was also heartening to read of the vast difference in numbers between the racist right-wing agitators and the counter protestors. An estimated 300 racist right-wing agitators and 4000 counter protestors.
    Kindness won the day!!!

  5. It’s nearly 11 p.m. and this only just appeared in my feed or I would have immediately commented.

This gives me hope. Maybe we’re not doomed. There is still goodness in this world.
