Shakespeare Could Have Written it

I overdid some cleaning this afternoon and Fell asleep listening to Mandy mow her lawns next door. A small black body was curled up on the bed next to me and I without thinking I stroked her whilst listening to this music.

Now I’ve thought it strange that Bun has changed certain habits since Weaver left. She’s slightly quieter, she no longer walks with us at night and she sleeps on the bed rather than on me every night, but she’s typically affectionate almost needy at other times.

I thought about this when I stroked her flank

And suddenly there it was. Faint but certainly there. A tiny bald patch and a scar from an old infected suture after a kitten hood hernia repair .

And it all made sense of a sort . It would now seem that it’s dear Bun that has left home

And Mistress Weaver has been left behind

When did you last see two cats together?

  4. Oh, God, John! You'll need to dye one of them so you can tell them apart. Only joking, but they must have some distinguishing feature apart from an old scar? I'd suggest different coloured collars, but I hate cat collars with a vengeance. I hope little Bun returns soon. Never a dull moment, eh? xx

    4. This is great, like a creepy thriller mystery. I bet both were good and evil, but your organized mind divided them as Good Cat/ Bad Cat. They must think you're a bit dim, sorry to say. Maybe spray that colored hair dye on one cat, like they do w sheep. On its back where it can't lick it off? The hairspray color is safe/ non toxic, kids can use it. You' d only need a pmall splotch. Not permanant, you d need to redo.

They might have been planning what appears to be confusion across several continents for some time and with great care. You do know how to have fun John.

One suggestion, if you can pet the cat that is currently at home. Trim her tail so it is a blunt cut. An easy way to tell the difference between two cats…if she will allow is the question

Suspected not. So probably best approach is to feed and look after any black cat that is around.

We used to have four black cats (now only three). came home from a holiday in the early hours. Three cats were in, I asked my partner to look under the bed for KeKe (little girl cat). he said there was a black cat under the bed. 10 mins later she came in. I shut the cat flap knowing there were five cats in the house. the extra cat was a stray who left at warp speed at about 10:00am.

      Bloody cats.

WellI am glad I didn’t have identical twins unless they had different appendages.!
Where is Bun? Since she was the affectionate one I reckon someone is feeding her delicacies she can’t resist

  15. Once the currently absent cat returns to your cottage, take her to the vet to have her microchip read/scanned. Or, quickly grab the cat currently at home, and take her to be scanned. Once the microchip(s) are read, and the cat(s) identified, there must be a means by which you can mark them so you can tell them apart.
Stay safe & well, John dear.

Your intriguing tale reminded me of a black cat of more than fifty years ago who went walkabout. After a few days, I found him under the porch and hauled him into the house where he was content to stay. Another few days of living with him and I realized I’d lassoed another cat entirely and booted the imposter out. Original cat found, I hope, another home. As I was thinking about the saga of Bun and Weaver, remembering the stranger I’d dragooned all those years ago, and entertaining thoughts of our dear Styx, the last of our black cats, I noticed movement below my seat on the front porch and saw that a black cat was walking across the yard. I’m not sure I’ve seen another black cat in this neighborhood since the passing of Styx in the last century. Maybe Bun has found her way from Wales to an island in the Gulf of Mexico just off Texas. 18. Good golly, Miss Molly! Those cats cannot make up their minds. Who would have thought that Bun would go walk-about? Do you suppose Weaver chased her out of the house?
It's also amazed me that Weaver let you pet her. Miracles never cease.

    Hugs!
