Papa LEON

I’m not religious, I’m agnostic but I have an interest and a kind of envy of real faith.
The welcome to Pope Leon by the Spanish was a joyous thing to watch and experience and I was careful to rely on my non verbal skills to get a personal flavour of the man behind the title.
To me he is a humble man. He is awkward with standing ovations but has a natural simple warmth with people. He isn’t shy but has a cautious way about him.
I warmed to him, despite the showbiz welcome

Exactly the impression he gives me. A true man of the people and an advocate for people. Very healthy to have an American Pope. And who is not frightened of Trump! Long may he reign!

  2. I know right?
I'm a recovering catholic and my Nan was absolutely into the whole Pope thing. But Leo is even cooler than Frankie (who passed recently) and he does that 'people person' so many old school priests have.
Maybe that's why Cankles does not like him. That and Leo being a natural humanitarian.

    XOXO

  3. I'm not a Catholic anymore but I like how he speaks out for immigrants. Now if only he would let women and married people be priests...why not?!

  4. At least one thing we can point to with pride; not many these days.

  5. As an agnostic, I, too, envy people who have this easy faith in their religion. I do not have that kind of brain, where I believe what is spouted at me, without questions, or without proof. I almost always have questions and seek proof. I don't think that's a bad thing. Faith isn't for me, and I totally accept that it is for others.

  6. I'm not religious, either, but I do like churches and whenever I go to the Liverpool Anglican cathedral, I do feel a certain peace. I'm not sure if it's merely awe, or something deeper!
I didn't see the Pope's visit, but, I too, get the feeling that he is a humble, gentle and genuine man. xx

  8. And, what many find very surprising, he's an American.
