Yesterday, Beautiful New York Lee talked about the three men and one woman she bitch slapped in a long rather exciting life. Now while we all don’t condone physical violence, sometimes I think we have all been pushed into physical confrontations sometimes in our lives.
After all we are all bloody human .
I have slapped one man in my life. I sucker punched another. The punch was a result of a previous partner pulling a knife at me during a drunken rage ( fuck that! I flattened the fucker ) the other was a slap I regret but I was provoked
On reflection I have only slapped one woman in anger. It was in 1987 in York and I was drunk at the bar in Roxy’s nightclub ….a rather inebriated trans drag queen poked me then slapped me to move and I looked at her and said “ sorry mum” ( she did look like my mother complete with facial hair )
I slapped her back , and in the afterglow got bitch slapped again for my trouble .
I woke up with a black eye and a fat lip, lol, she was a tough old bird
"I think we have all been pushed into physical confrontations sometimes in our lives." No, not that I can think of....Bel Ami
ReplyDeleteOnly once did I ever go after some one. I was about 10 years old and she had made fun of how my father walked. He had a spine problem so was slightly bent and didn’t turn his neck well. She is lucky that I didn’t catch her. And one other time when my brother enraged me. I picked up a knife in the kitchen and chased him up stairs. He only just got into his room and shut the door before I stabbed the door. Right then and there I decided to never let that happen again. I just walk away since then. Glad to have learned how to control my temper early in life. Words can be just as effective. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI don't recall ever hitting anyone, but I do admit, I've come close! As I get older, I tend to prefer the quiet life anyway. Getting into confrontation takes a lot of energy. Mind you, if anyone harmed any of my loved ones - they'd better watch out! xx
ReplyDeleteI remember once punching or slapping (I can't remember) my ex-husband. He'd come in around dawn, drunk and without apology or explanation while I'd been home worrying horribly all night with our two little children, one who was a baby.
ReplyDeleteI doubt I hurt him but I think he was astounded.
And it certainly did not change his ways.
I have never slapped anyone in anger. Although I did once get punched in the face intervening in a nasty girls fight at our secondary school. Instead of hitting her intended target the aggressor accidently hit me. My face must have been a picture as I pushed her against the wall and said 'if you ever hit me again I will kill you', it was enough to make her change her ways towards a lot of the people she bullied.
ReplyDeleteI have never slapped anyone.
ReplyDeleteI have never slapped anyone, but I did once tear a (newish) flannel shirt my then partner was wearing. He was shocked!

Wow, I've not experienced the slap nor given one.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I've been told by other people that they know my tolerances and proceed with caution.
My brother and I used to hit each other when we were kids, but never very hard and never in the face, as far as I can recall. I can honestly say I don't think I've ever hit anyone in anger as an adult. This doesn't mean I haven't wanted to, though.
ReplyDeleteThere have been times in the past that I have clonked a couple of people but out of retaliation in a flash of temper, glad to say those days are long gone, now find it easier to walk away and let folks suffer there own short comings. Jan in Castle Gresley
ReplyDeleteOops ‘their’ !!! Jan
ReplyDeleteI was going to say I have never hit or slapped any one but then remembered I have.
ReplyDeleteI was in Rome walking towards Termini. I saw a bunch of children notice me. I was carrying an expensive camera. They came towards me, about to swarm and pickpocket. I gave the oldest a backhanded slap and told them to get lost.
So a premeditated slap as opposed to one in anger.
Never. And I don't see having slapped or punched someone as something to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteOnly once. A girl in my 3rd grade class was constantly picking on me, we moved a lot so I was always the new kid. Our class had taken a day trip and those were the days when it was okay for students to stand in the isles if all of the seats were taken. Unfortunately, I was one of the group that had to stand and even more unfortunate was that it was right beside the mean girl. I had on white knee socks and she put her foot up and wiped the bottom of her shoe on my sock. I told her to stop. She did it again. I told her to stop and she said "make me". I slapped her and her glasses flew back and landed in the lap of a student behind her. I was mortified and knew I would be in so much trouble. The kid behind her handed her the glasses, she put them on and looked out her window. She never bothered me again. I never got in trouble. That is the only time I have ever hit anyone. Here I am 68 years old and that is still so clear in my memory but I have not thought of it in years!!!
