Janet and I are 64 on Monday. She’s been up to do the garden today as my birthday gift and place looks clean and tidy and lovely in the late spring dusk, as she has also planted geraniums in terracotta pots to fill in the gaps.
The honeysuckle always flowers thickly on June 1st and already the scent above my front door is heady and is invading the whole cottage like an old friend visiting. Already I’ve had birthday gifts delivered, a novel from Australia , a cheerful Ukrainian flag coloured jacket from the German. We only get post once a week now, so I’m lucky if any cards will be forthcoming but I’m hoping.

Happy birthday to you. All the very best to you. And thank you for being there and for all you write. Look after youself, and if there is ever a chance to meet up I'd love to take it. My son had similar issues, is now fine and I do sympathise. Jxx

DeleteMissed it, sorry, is the German a friend. Or a FRIEND
ReplyDeleteA couple years ago, when I turned 64, I had a party and wore a 1970s maxi dress printed with giant, bright flowers. I asked my dear guests to sing me the Beatles’ “When I’m 64” and they did. I declared it such a happy memory that I don’t need any more birthday parties.
ReplyDeleteMay yours be a grand day full of Love.
Why a brilliant idea! JanF
DeleteThe garden is looking lovely. A photo of you modelling the jacket, please! I hope you and Janet have a wonderful birthday. xx

DeleteHappy Birthday to you both.
ReplyDeleteThank u
DeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, babes!
Love that song.
XOXO

DeleteAw, John. I imagine that Paul McCartney, who is now 83, probably looks back now upon his year of being 64 as part of the springtime of his youth.
ReplyDeleteAnd in a way- it was.
Yours can be too.
I feel far past my prime dearHeart xx
DeleteHappy B-day John and Janet.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your special day.
Remember, the best is yet to come.
Hold that thought...
Oh I doubt that xx
DeleteWishing you and Janet a wonderful birthday and envy that lovely and tidy garden she has created for you, us, and passersby to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAre you two planning to go somewhere fun and special to celebrate together?
Hugs!
wishing both you and Janet the happiest of Birthdays...! or at least a VERY happy ONE for you both. Your garden looks lovely- how nice that she is near enough to you to be able to do that on a whim...... a true gift! I will lift my glass to you both on Monday! and it just doesn't seem quite right that you only receive post once per week now? WTH?
ReplyDeleteSusan M/ Calif.
Birthday wishes to you and Janet! What a thoughtful gift she gave you. Enjoy your special day! Cali
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, John. I turned 64 back in December.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you and your sister!
ReplyDeleteWishing you both all the very best from Canberra, Australia πππ₯³π
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday for yesterday! The garden looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday π to you!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, every day above grounds a good 'un.π xx
Pen-blwydd hapus xx
ReplyDeleteYou are still youngsters! But so interesting that since the song, how 64 and not 65, has become such a milestone!
ReplyDeleteRemember that the older you get, the more that number becomes just a number - and how wonderful it is to share that experience with your twin (says a lone twin)
And your birthday card is on it's way, whenever it arrives! And much love to you both on your special day!
Happy Birthday to you John and your sister Janet xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday for Monday to both you, John, and Janet ~ hope you both have a fab day! I shall be 65 on the 6th LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy pre-birthday to your both. I’ll be sure to wish you more on the actual day. Joel Grey on the Ed Sullivan Show. I don’t remember that one. He’s now NINETY-four! Ed Sullivan didn’t allow any live singing on his show. So that was lip-synching.

ReplyDeleteMy generous and thoughtful early birthday gift to you is to inform you that there is an error in the title of this blogpost. It should read "When I'm 64", not "When In 64".
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I never knew you had performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. You looked rather different without a beard. I guess that Joel was just a stage name.
Here's sending you advance bestest wishes for Monday coming JayGee - I'd hate to having missed it - as well as all the very best from Vera, Chuck & Dave! :-;
ReplyDeleteMy last character above should, of course,
Deletehave been a winkie ;-).
Happy early birthday! You only get one post a week? Is that the post office cutting back?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you both! Hugs, Bun
ReplyDeleteI always remember your and Janet’s birthdays as my youngest daughter’s birthday is today May 28 she is now 61 making me feel pretty old. As I remember, Janet usually does your garden as your gift and you take her to London to a play or ballet. Whatever you do, have a wonderful birthday. Gigi
ReplyDeleteMs Moon, I was thinking the same thing. Paul McCartney thought 64 was so old it was beyond his imagination at the time to be 83! Now 64 seems young to Paul and Ringo and the other two sadly did not make it to 83.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you and Janet x
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday,
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you and Janet. I'll be 64 in September. It's so strange this getting older.
ReplyDeleteI just looked up the lyrics to the song, what a lovely little song.
Happy upcoming birthday! I'd forgotten that you and Janet are twins. The garden is looking great! Much neater than ours! LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday John and Janet! and many more! I'll be 59 in June... creeping up on that 60 .. I will throw myself a Tea Party and invite the GrandLittles who always come in style..lol Last year the theme was Halloween... oh what fun.. they came dressed as little witches...lol this year its Valentines Day...that should be fun too... What a great gift from your sister :) Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you both!

It seems to be the season of monumental numbers. Best wishes on your (plural) joint birthday Monday.
ReplyDeleteWe’ll be quietly observing our 55th wedding anniversary tomorrow. I never imagined I’d be living in the 21st century yet here we are. Enjoy each day the best you can…some are definitely harder than others. We wouldn’t recognize the good days if we never had bad days. Keep your pecker up ✌️π❤️

ReplyDeleteHappy (upcoming) Birthday to you and Janet. The year I turned 64--quite a bit ago--I put a clip of the Beatles song "When I'm Sixty-Four" as the answering ring on my mobile. :)
