Nu

It’s Nu’s 60th today ….she looks 40 ….I’d planned to go to Surrey for her party on Saturday  and had booked a hotel and rail ticket, but recent events have precluded the visit .

I wish I was going , so much. Xx

It will be a happy day for her whenever she sees you, of course.

  4. Plan on next year! A special dinner in London. 61 is even better than 60. Seriously, I am so sorry that your health prevents you from going. Love and Happy Birthdays to you both .[ I know yours is soon, too.].

  8. Happy birthday to Nu! She will miss your presence, but totally understand why you’re staying close to home. When you’re feeling up to it, perhaps you can give her a surprise non-birthday meetup, or work out something you’d both like to do together. I’m sure that very sensible doctor of yours would say ‘Take it gently. Baby steps’. I hope you’re actually feeling physically better, not just more confident? XX . Chin up - you’re doing well.

You wouldn’t be the only ‘bagman’ on the train or, possibly, at the party. You’re just a bit shy of confidence. You’ll get it soon.
Happy Birthday Nu! May it be your best year thus far. Thanks for being John’s Bestie and keeping him loved even when he isn’t feeling lovable. We all need a Bestie.

  15. Dang it, John, I feel for you. I know what it's like to pine for your bestie, and not get to see her. Mine is medicine for my soul, as I am sure Nu is for yours. Your reunion with her will be that much more joyous. Sending love and hugs. Karla

Here we are, my husband and I in our 80's - having given up celebrating events on the day - moved them to when they are more convenient. Our Christmas gelato wasn't gotten until just before Valentine's Day and here it is May with VD still not celebrated. Time has become immaterial.

Wishing Nu a very Happy Birthday! I feel she's a friend of mine, too.
So sorry you're not going to her party but understand your current situation. Hope in the coming weeks you two can get together somewhere delightful!

    Hugs!

I do think you should have tried harder to get to Nu’s party. Stop saying you are in your twilight years too. You are my girls age. You are just feeling sorry for yourself and i understand that but pull up those bra straps and get out there. You will be fine. Hows that for tough love? Hugs Gigi

    1. I’m not quite totally confident for a London trip and raucous party ..and I didn’t want her worrying about me attending alone…unfortunately many old friends from Sheffield couldn’t attend

  23. Hope you can meet up with her later on down the line to celebrate. Completely understand why- my husband had to have a catheter fitted twice last year and yes he too knocked the tap. We stayed close to home during those weeks because of some of the practical issues around it. It was a tricky thing to manage at times. All the best Johnxx

Hope Nu had a fantastic Birthday! Understandable why you were reluctant to attend.
