Easter Sunday

The village has been battered by storm Dave
Dramatically so.
The journey to Llandudno along the A55 to night shift felt somewhat fraught.
And the wind roared over west shore, like a freight train.
It’s still roaring now and it’s just past midnight.

When I left for work I found a bag tied to the front door knob.
The bag was decorated with Easter chicks and eggs and in it was a small Easter egg and these

A Cd and book of Under Milk Wood.
Another day, another kindness.
Its now Easter Sunday, traditionally an awfully dire memory of childhood , which centred upon chocolate ( I’m not a fan) Overlong Biblical films starting Jeffrey Hunter and bored parents.

And a light note to end with
Sometimes I stream on a site for mature gay men. It’s fun because I can hold court and discuss things such as film, the walking dead, life and the universe. The site is moderated and policed by friends who stop the riff raff and the occasional rude or suggestive comment and it’s often interesting to have a couple of hundred people from all over the world sharing their thoughts.
This weekend I was discussing scary experiences, when a bloke from Portugal shared with a photograph that was somewhat bizarre.
I won’t go into details but it caught me so unaware that I burst into uncontrollable hysterical laughter. A real belly laugh that stopped most people short and which created a wave of laughing amid the group.
Matt a good friend from Denmark took a screen shot of me with the caption you are killing me today John
I laughed till I cried…..brilliant therapy for a boring Easter weekend

A good laugh and good sleep will fix most anything! Love the photo your Danish friend took of your laughter.
I, too, am astonished that you (or anyone) doesn't like chocolate. Really??

    Hugs!

  3. My mother used to listen often to Under Milk Wood, we had an old 78 of it. Mother was a Welsh thespian, and loved it.

The online group seems to show the good and friendly side of the internet and I love the laughter you all shared.
I love listening to 'Under Milkwood' being read by Richard Burton. Those rich sounding words and beautifully painted images! A very special present.

    Happy Easter John!

  5. Such a great pic. Belly laughs can be so good. (I was in a production of Under Milk Wood when I was 15. I played Polly Garter.)

  6. Oh, yes! Laughing till the tears stream down your face and your sides and belly ache. Better than anything for blowing the cobwebs away.
Do you know who left the Easter gifts? I love your village! xx

We don't find any day boring including Easter days! Had a lovely lie in until 9 and a promise of a siesta this afternoon after doing some fence repairs - donkeys and goats ran riot in the veggie plot yesterday. I've just been told I'm adored, what could be nicer than that.

Great pic of you laughing. I often laugh in an inappropriate situation. I had a boyfriend many, many years ago who would get angry with me, I would laugh, nervously maybe, which would send him bonkers, which made me laugh even harder. "Stop laughing" he would yell, I carried on. We didn't last long.

That is the most wonderful photograph - and seeing it makes the rest of the world smile too! Can't be bad! Your other internet world sounds great, sympathetic, silly and supportive in turn. Just what you needed.
Storm Dave was bad here in Yorkshire as well. Couldn't get the side gate open to take the dog for his bedtime walk. But surprisingly, no garden or house damage. Happy Easter, Sunshine.

  15. That is now my favorite photo of you! It has been a long time since I laughed till I cried. It always helps in some way. Was that discussed in your training as a counselor?

  16. The last time I laughed until I cried was with a grandson who was probably only about four years old at the time. I was reading him a book and doing the voices as I do and the mother bird voice I came up with made us both laugh so much we could not breathe. I hope to always remember that moment in time. He and I still talk about it.
Now. As to you- John, you are CHERISHED. At home and abroad.

  20. That IS a great photo. It really conveys the hilarity. Now I want to know more about the "bizarre" picture that triggered your laughing fit!

  21. What a lovely gift to find in horrible weather! I have just caught up on a week - Project Hail Mary is a good movie, but I cannot recommend the audiobook highly enough - much longer than the movie and will fill a lot of the plotholes that you may have found. Will seek The Other Bennett Sister - I read the book a few years ago.

It's sad that you have to resort to online interactions. Are there any groups in your surrounding are that you can attend to be with "real" people?

    1. What's sad is you anon. Are there any groups in your surrounding AREA that you can be with real people or is Anonymous all you have? It's sad that you have to resort to such interactions frequently on John's blog. (sorry John but sometimes anon troll really irritates me)
