I have visited the film many times since but never on the big screen, so today a friend and I drove to Chester to see it at the Storyhouse
It was a delight as it has always been, a magical tale of a quirky lonely waitress and her quest to do good in a whimsically unreal Montmartre where strange characters abound and where the colours of the bars and shops and streets burst out of the screen like magic.
It made Audrey Tautou a star and is, I am sure one of the most loved of all French movies

I loved that movie and I love Audrey Tautou. Have you seen Dirty Pretty Things? She's in that one too and I quite enjoyed it.

Se esse FDP da coordenação da farmácia da UFRJ, que vazou as minhas informações pessoais, achou que iria me calar, não funcionou. A coordenação da farmácia da UFRJ nunca vai me calar. Medo é para quem tem algo a perder, eu não tenho nada a perder, não sobrou mais nada para mim.
Você devia pensar antes de se meter nos problemas dos outros. Você é o verdadeiro culpado das minhas informações pessoais e sigilosas terem sido vazadas para uma pessoa que nem me conhece, nem estuda mais na UFRJ e nem mais mora no Brasil. Se você tivesse tomando conta da sua vida em vez de ficar comprando as dores dos outros, nada disso teria acontecido.
Você ainda faz iniciação científica com bolsa da FAPERJ no laboratório Roderick A. Barnes, será que o Alessandro sabe que você fica ameaçando os outros na faculdade?
Você ainda fez estágio em farmácia comunitária, lá na clínica da família Rodolpho Rocco, será que você ameaçou os outros também lá?
Você já foi monitor da disciplina análises farmacêuticas, será que você ensinou os alunos a ameaçar os outros na faculdade também?

Já que você foi homem o suficiente para ameaçar me bater mesmo sem eu ter feito nada contra você, você também é homem o suficiente para vir aqui na boca de fumo, que funciona na parte de cima da minha rua e mandar o traficante me matar, aqui em frente a minha casa funciona um ferro velho clandestino, que fornecesse material furtado para os traficantes fazerem barricadas. Melhor ainda, pega um fuzil com um traficante e dá um tiro na minha cabeça, morrer para mim é lucro, sofrimento é depois de tudo o que você fez comigo, eu ainda ser obrigado a ser da mesma turma que você das disciplinas de Citopatologia Clínica Aplicada e Toxicologia.
Você não sabe a barra, que eu estou passando nesse semestre na faculdade. Ser obrigado a assistir aula junto com você, depois do que você fez comigo e você ficar agindo como se não tivesse feito nada de errado. Eu acho que ser psicopata é pré-requisito para fazer iniciação científica.

DeleteI saw it at the cinema on its release and a couple of times since on TV., as well as seeing it again when it was being shown (without subtitles) as part of my studying for an O.U. Diploma in French during our compulsory week in Caen. It's a lovely film.
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall that when the film first came out it suffered the same criticism as had 'Notting Hill' - viz that nearly every significant character - or, indeed, EVERY single one - was white - a criticism that, in both cases, I thought was perfectly justified.

DeleteI've never seen it. Not a fan of subtitles, I don't seem to get on with them. I'm too busy reading the text and so miss the action and subtle clues! Maybe I'll have to give it a go. The story is intriguing. xx

DeleteEasily one of my favorite movies of all time. I remember when I first discovered it and feeling like I'd found this precious gem of a thing! I have watched it many times and love it just as much. I feel the same way about "Galaxy Quest," starring Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver.

DeleteWow, I can't believe it came out that long ago. I remember going to see it too. I liked it but I remember also being frustrated that she wouldn't just TALK to the guy she was enamored with. After this she starred in "Dirty Pretty Things" which is a very dark film and I remember a lot of people saw it thinking it would be like "Amelie" -- and they were sorely disappointed!
