Wednesday

Weaver brought in her first adolescent rabbit today.
It was lying in the living room with her sat proudly beside it when I got up
It was heavier and bigger than she is.
It’s like the ghost of Albert has arrived home.
Weaver had blood around her mouth

Mary is still with Trendy Carol so Roger went to counselling with me and slept in the car between walks
It’s stormy and wild here in wales
And suddenly cold too
People are panic buying petrol and the pumps in Rhuddlan were empty

Chicken and black bean sauce tonight

Our cats seemed to prefer voles and we preferred them to eliminate voles, too.
Will you get Mary 'fixed' after this cycle?
17*C (62*F) here today with the low 9.5*C (49*F). Rain likely on Friday.

    Hugs!

  2. Albert lives on. At least she's bringing gifts, which is progress... I think?
Freezing cold here, and we had a heavy hail shower earlier. Ne'er cast a clout, 'til May be out and all that! xx

Weaver loves you, John, what a wonderful gift!

I thought for a moment that Roger was having counselling.
Dogs’ Trust had a counsellor for newly rehomed dogs. I was lacking sleep when she phoned back about Daisy’s barking and asked her if wanted to speak to Daisy.

    3. I would choose far more negative and judgemental adjectives than "gung ho".

  5. Weaver appreciates "cat" time and she has gifted you.
I am so angry about the war in Iran. They were no threat to US. Yet our leadership has gone head strong forward.
Fuel oil is now $5 a gallon. Before the war it was $3.72 a gallon. Yesterday I spent over $300 for groceries. Costs are rising with no end in sight.

  7. How does a cat kill a larger animal, even something as timid as a rabbit? Rabbits really are the "main course" of the animal kingdom, aren't they?

    1. I think that shows weavers tenacity .
Adult rabbits can fight so seldom become to the prey of cats ( Albert excepted)

  8. As a fan of Weaver but also a rabbit lover, I have mixed emotions, of course. Oh Nature, red in tooth and claw.

My sons cats never go outside, they stare at birds outside the window ,who tease them mercilessly. Alaska, the male cat has been known to check benches for steak and is quite famous for developing a taste for quality steak which has done the disappearing act with it !

  10. I hope Weaver didn’t play with it first. (I won’t think about it.) When our niece was maybe 4, her big Black Lab brought home a tiny baby rabbit. My sister-in-law was trying to extricate it from the dog’s mouth while my niece cried loudly that she wanted to “pet the baby rabbit.” Her mother said, “But the rabbit is dead.” My niece wailed, ”I know. But I can never catch the live ones!”

  11. It reminds me of when my Sophie Lucille last summer got into a nest of couple days old baby rabbits...tossing them about in the air, before consuming three of them. The mother got one and ran with it. I was so upset with Sophie.

  12. I read that last sentence as children and black bean sauce and I wondered, do you eat the children with black bean sauce? Or eat with children, and you all eat black bean sauce?
    I might be tired.

  13. What's with the panic petrol buying? It's hardly worth it as an average car petrol tank in Great Britain holds about twelve gallons and no more.

  14. I never had a dog that brought home a rabbit, but a cat, yes.

  15. I was looking after a friend's dog once, and it caught a Hare. It wasn't dead so I had to administer the final blow. We ate it the following day.

  16. Oh Lordy, Weaver! We had a cat who carried a live baby bunny in the house, and that bunny was literally screaming. Those who've heard that, know what I mean. We played a round of chase the cat through the house with the bunny in her mouth screaming, until the cat ran back outside and dropped the bunny. Bunny ran off, unharmed but definitely traumatized, as we were. Jesus.

  17. From what you have said, Roger would benefit from some counseling. I can't wait for the next election.

  18. Poor bunny.
We will have huge protests across our country here on Saturday. I'll be marching with my sister and my son.

  19. The one thing that I love the most about leaving our house in Wales, is that we get no more rabbit presents brought in by Ginger, either alive or dead. The amount of times we had to move furniture to retrieve live rabbits from their hiding places and remove entrails and other inedible bits off the front indoor door mat was ridiculous.

The next election in the US cannot come soon enough for me, lets hope they get two decent candidates this time. Micky Mouse and Donald Duck would do better than this one!

Well with Kamala her two brain cells never collided and poor Joe wasn't right when he went into office in 2020. Let the US take care of their business. Europe is circling the drain but some are oblivious to their own backyard. I will take Trump over (late to the party Starmer) anyday. ;)Jen

  20. I had a Siamese/Burmese cross when I was in high school, he was always bringing voles, mice, & other little furry creatures to the back porch, blood and body parts everywhere. Spent a lot of time cleaning the mess up.
