Goodbye

Saying goodbye to a work colleague who you like and respect , I think is the easiest goodbye you can make. If you are friends the friendship will often continue, if you both move on, you have the knowledge that you have touched each other’s lives for as long as you were part of that work team and you now wish each other well. Julie ( centre) has been a nurse longer than I have.
We are old school nurses, brought up to follow our guts rather than pure protocol and audit and have spent many hours in that drug room, with me trying very hard to get her to wet herself with silly jokes and observations.
That laughter is a typical nursing coping mechanism, especially within palliative care,
And I’m lucky I work with a nice group of people.

Oh, it is so hard to say good-bye to deal co-workers who have been through the mill with you, have helped with coping with the sadness, and have lightened the load with twisted medical humor. Godspeed to Julie!
Great looking folks who remain as your co-workers although one cutie seems underage! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

    Hugs!

  7. A good group by the looks of it! And possibly, like those in Sheffield, some will keep in touch

  8. Are you totally sure that this is a picture of your work colleagues and not a Christian singing group? All together now everybody...
    Kumbayah my Lord, kumbayah
    Kumbayah my Lord, kumbayah
    Kumbayah my Lord, kumbayah
    Oh Lord, kumbayah
P.S. Who the hell was Kumbayah anyway?

If a very old memory is correct, it means "come by here" in Swahili(sp?).

  10. It is the people we work with that make the job a joy or a miserable experience.

  13. What a great team of nurses. Julie will be missed. Wishing her well as she moves on is only right, but also bittersweet.

  14. You are very lucky. I can hardly remember the last time I worked with a nice group of people. It’s a rarity I think.

You are very lucky, the nature of my job means I work alone. But I do get to hang out with some very lovely people all the same.

  16. I've see so many move on over the years, I've worked in the same team for 19 years so watched them come and go.
