My eye injection was unpleasant but not painful
I asked the nurse if a colleague could hold my head still and she complied with suitable force
( she could have wrestled a pig)
The only thing that went wrong
Is…..
They used permanent marker to dot above the eye to be injected
I did see the funny side
As a former surgery nurse, it is so very, very important to have the patient mark (or nurse mark with patient pointing) the planned surgical side when there are bilateral sites like eyes, ears, arms, legs or multiples like fingers or toes. No mistake that way. Nobody wants that kind of mistake!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this injection is over with, no pain, and that someone helped you keep still.
Big hugs!
Babs xx I get you
DeleteWell, think of it as a beauty spot rather than a war wound! At least there wasn't a big, red arrow as well. Glad there was no pain and no bloodshot eye this time. Time to rest and recuperate. xx
ReplyDeleteYes a dot that may encourage conversations
DeleteAh... nothing that a tub of Ajax and a scrubbing brush can't shift π
ReplyDeleteAjax!! Bloody hell
DeleteAny surgical procedure requires permanent marker locators. After cataract surgery it's usually gone due to the surgical prep. It washes off. Face cloth and warm water. Does the trick
ReplyDeleteI’ve tried xx
DeleteAlcohol wipe
DeleteTried
DeleteBaby oil? (or possibly any other oil) xx
DeleteMelon scoop?
DeleteHuh?
DeleteSandpaper
DeleteFunny
DeleteJohn, I’m so glad it’s over and done!! I can’t stand anything being done to my eyes. Take care of yourself❤️ Carol in Atlanta
ReplyDeleteπ️π️
DeleteGood! I think we've all been worried. At least I have. Or not worried, really, just thinking about you, wanting it to be over for you.
ReplyDeleteI’ve got. Many more injections to come
DeleteVery glad for you it is over! I would hate it as I dislike anyone near my eyes!π’☹️well done for surviving so well and hope you feel great tomorrow!>π€πAnna mid Wales
ReplyDeleteπ️π️π️
DeleteI thought beauty spot too. You might just become an instagram worthy trendsetter. It will be interesting to see how many people notice and which ones mention it and which ones pretend it's not there. I would have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteOk will try
DeleteStrong nurse. Strong medicine. Strong ink! Maybe a conversation starter.
ReplyDeleteGawd help me
DeleteOut for coffee and had to show SG the photo. Thanks for the laugh, again. Hope to see you some day soon!
DeleteOMG thank goodness!!
ReplyDeleteI would have freaked OUT. I'm such a wuss.
Glad is over.
XOXO
More injections to come x
DeleteDon't know about on skin, but have successfully used acetone to remove permanent marker on other surfaces. Anyway, it's safe to say it will fade pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI’m over egging the pudding for comic effect
DeleteAt least they knew exactly which eye required the injection! Imagine the horror of getting an injection in the wrong eye and then coming back to get the correct eye injected.
ReplyDeleteWill you get a new dot for each new injection?
You'll be the guy with the dots.
If they went near my good eye I would have punched the lot of them
DeleteWhen my surgeon marked the hip he was replacing, he signed it! I went around with his autograph on my hip for weeks. But there wasn't an audience except his surgical team. I'm glad your eye appointment is over for now.
ReplyDeleteNow there’s a talking point
DeleteI'm afraid it makes me feel queasy even thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat do u think I felt lol
Delete“It will just take a couple of seconds” … those are the longest seconds that I’ve encountered. Well done you.
ReplyDeleteweavinfool
Ain’t that the bleeding truth
DeleteIt's worth the hassle if it works.
ReplyDeleteIt took a while for my cataract arrow to go.
Your new beauty spot looks like the start of a tattoo. ( ) Josie
I want a Tatoo of a goat
DeleteMisplaced Hindu?
ReplyDeleteWhoops
DeleteJohn speaking as one who is forever getting very stainy hair dye on my face, it will come off in a few days when your skin's natural oils come through and lift it away. Glad to hear it wasn't too bad especially after last time!
ReplyDeleteSeveral dozen to go
DeleteNext time you could bring along a "friend" to hold your head, someone big and strong to wrestle your head.
ReplyDeleteSteady David , I got your email and will reply tomorrow x
DeleteOuch, I would be such a baby in that circumstance. I'm glad you told them to hold your head still. Hug
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
I am a baby albeit a very quiet one, the Valium quietens me down
DeleteA nurse on the receiving end is never in a happy place, but you are a hero to get through it. A stout heart carries you through. Oh, and not wanting to appear a right wuss! Think of your teeny weeny dot as a tramp stamp to be proud of. There, there!
ReplyDeleteTramp stamp lol
DeleteGlad it went better this time. Amazing how this will help save your vision. Just think of the permanent marker as a beauty mark, John. ;)
ReplyDeleteI need all the beauty treatment I can get
DeleteI bet you always wanted a tattoo.
ReplyDeleteI’m going to have one
DeleteHow about a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? (Just kidding.)
ReplyDeleteA plaster
DeleteIt just looks like a mole. I'm guessing it will be gone in no time, despite the "permanence."
ReplyDeleteI know, it just makes for a good story
DeleteA nurse did the injection? What about the assurance that the senior consultant would do it after the fuss you made last time?
ReplyDeleteOr was that told for a "good story" too?
No a doctor did this one
DeleteI did say that
DeleteI got a tattoo in my "lower region" for when I had radiation for my prostate cancer. It was a little dot to help them focus the "gun" or whatever it is called to dispense the radiation. It has disappeared! That eye stuff must be so awful!
ReplyDeleteOh errr xxxcan I see it
