There are not enough hours in my day
The older I get the more I think this.
Night shifts exaggerate this somewhat as they encroach on more than the night at work, but Tuesdays I’m in college all day and Thursdays I’m seeing my own clients for most of the day in the next County.
I also have a presentation to write and which links humanistic therapy with Gestalt thinking and another essay to plan for centred around diversity.
My academic marks are improving and my last three pieces of work were B+ A- and A- which I’m pleased about
Today I’ve walked the Welsh, and pottered around chasing up medications, picking up a glucose monitor, cat wormers and the like.
Whoosh the morning has gone
When it’s just you at home, there’s just you to sort these things out
That’s a brief moan, more an observation.
As you can see there’s not much to discuss or say today
I saw Terry walking his dog and he told me I’d lost weight, which pleased me
I’ve lost a stone and a half
My cord pants almost fell down in a sainsburys the other day as a result
Ps. I’ve just reweighed myself . I’ve lost 2 stone
It's the same way at my house, if I don't do it, it doesn't get done, ever. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI find the days go by very quickly, a lot different from forty years ago when a day could stretch forever.
Don't lose your pants John:)
First of all, well done on the weight loss. That's a brilliant result! Secondly, well done on the marks. They reflect your dedication and hard work. I'm so thoroughly chuffed for you on both counts.
ReplyDeleteI'm retired and the days just get away from me, so I can understand how you feel you need more hours in the day. You pack so much into your life, but please remember that being busy doing nothing is also good for you! xx
Well done on your grades and that weight loss!! Is it time to tighten your belt, poke another hole in it so it holds your pants up, or buy a new belt?
ReplyDeleteSome days seem longer than others even though I'm retired and set my own schedule. Lupus fatigue slows my schedule down because I sit and read, but hey ho as you say, that's the way it goes.
Our snow has frozen so exit the house at your own risk!
Hugs!
You are an objectively busy, busy guy! Way to go on the good grades and weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI often think the same, not enough hours to get it all done, especially when you’re the one and only. Your schoolwork is so impressive. We’ll be awaiting news of a full moon in Sainsburys.
ReplyDeleteGood for you on the weight loss. Healthier choices doing the trick?
ReplyDeleteIt's a fine balance between being too busy and not busy enough. Glad you are taking care of yourself too, John.
ReplyDeleteHmm, suspenders? Dropping one's drawers while out shopping could lead to a chill in more ways than one. Congratulations on the great grades!
ReplyDeleteCeci
That's a good result on the weight loss and the academic marks.
ReplyDeleteI retired early at 60 (with a reduced pension) because I realised that I just couldn't keep up the pace any longer. I am impressed by how much you pack into your life.
You really are doing well on the weight loss, John. The ladies and maybe gentleman would have had a treat or a snicker if your pants had dropped. Maybe get some old fashion braces as my mother called them. I have been snowed in for a few days. I had basil cell surgery and a skin graft yesterday so today I brushed a good 20 plus cm of snow off my car and managed to get it out to the street then put it back in driveway because of bandage near my eye couldn’t see well enough to drive. I might be stuck in house for another week till they check my skin graft. My grandson said it looks like I had tackled a bear. I can’t wear my glasses, so reading is out and TV is all about trump so not watching it. You are so busy all the time it makes my head spin, but I guess I had those days too when I was younger. Gigi
ReplyDeleteDo you have cable or streaming services for your TV? If so, you're viewing choices are nearly endless and you can easily steer clear of an horrid felon rapist.
DeleteHappy healing!
Hugs!
Hope you heal well and quickly, Gigi. xx
DeleteThanks Barbara Anne and Happy Hooker. I have netflix and YouTube. The bandage kind of covers part of my eye making it hard to watch without getting a headache. I will be fine, just takes time. Gigi
DeleteWorking 2 mind- and heart-challenging jobs AND studying for an advanced degree? Wow, I need a nap just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteHang in there! Bonnie in Minneapolis
Well done on your significant weight loss John, it's not easy , losing weight at our age .Yep, I totally agree about running a house on your own, there is always something that needs sorting out, even if it's just putting the bins out !
ReplyDeleteLife expands to fill the time available. I don't know how you survive the night shifts. Congrats on the weight loss.
ReplyDeleteOne day you will look back on this time of your life and ask yourself how in the world you did it. And you will be so proud. I promise you.
ReplyDeleteWell done on your weight loss. It isn't easy but you have managed it. I took have lost weight but I had gastro enteritis for 16 days and ended up in hospital for three days, so not an ideal way to lose weight. All my pj bottoms fall down now!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the recent marks and the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteHoping you've had a relaxing afternoon.
Stay safe & well, John dear.
2 stone is a fabulous achievement, well done!
ReplyDeleteTwo stone is a fantastic achievement! I know how hard it can be because I have lost a stone since the beginning of January. We need photos of the new you! Your life is so busy busy no wonder the days seem to fly. But I agree getting older the days seem to flit by in an instance. The clients you talk of with your counselling; do you advertise for them or are they appointed to you?? How does it work.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say Congratulations on your grades. That is a great achievement to keep bettering your previous ones. I often think I should restudy but then I'm honest with myself and realise I'm too lazy. Hey ho.
DeleteYou may have lost the weight (congrats!), but did somebody else find it?
ReplyDeleteAlso, good work with your grades!
Will Jay
You are on a roll, and it just goes to prove that success breeds success. It also proves the career change was just what you needed, for your own peace of mind, talent, ambition and improved self image. Your grades are magnificent, and so is the weight loss. A new you inside and out! Allow a little smirk in the mirror to yourself. And remember you have nothing to prove to anyone. And if anyone else thinks you do, then it is their problem. Not yours!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations John on ALL of these accomplishments!!
ReplyDeleteWell done on all accounts! You must be proud.
ReplyDeleteWell done on your weight loss.
ReplyDeleteWell done to all you've accomplished. Please be very proud of yourself, as we all are. [Um---no pants dropping at the grocery store, pleeese. Mine fell almost down in a line at the bank. Mortified.]
ReplyDeleteNot enough hours in the day is preferable to there being too many hours in the day, which is a depressing situation for some. Not me, I hasten to add.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about not enough hours in a day, and I'm retired. Well done for losing two stone, a new set of clothes will be needed, certainly trousers!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are managing to find time to fuss and give attention to Weaver and Bun, it's easy for the dogs, they go for walks and get breakfast out at the beach. 😃🐕🦺
Have the kittens actually got worms? I only treat my cats if I see any, I don't believe in giving them tablets periodically as some people do. If needed, I get the tablets from the vet. Some of the shop bought ones are ineffective and can cause more harm than good.
Congratulations on your grades too. You make me tired just reading about what you pack into a week.
Do take care of yourself and your furballs. You do need to work to support your lifestyle, but don't let it make you ill.
Hugs to all at the cottage
Jean.
WOW!!! 2 stone - that's fantastic! As well as new trousers, you'd better make sure your underpants would stand scrutiny!! My weight has been creeping (no, let's be honest ... galloping) up and I am going to have to do something serious about it. I'm guessing your diet is no sugar, less flour and way more vegetables? Am I right? Or are you given a daily eating plan?
ReplyDeleteYour grades are wonderful - you're really showing your potential aren't you. I can't imagine having sole responsibility for the house, the maintenance, the animals, your work schedule and a heavy counselling training load and staying on top of it all... And to that add your health and weight issues! John, you are juggling so many things, you're amazing. If you can manage all that, I should try to do something about the weight gain. I'll take it as a challenge.
