It’s a mess
I’m sat contemplating what to do about it,
Hiding behind my blog….at the kitchen table
Since the twins arrived the cottage resembles a war zone
I saw my friend Polly for brunch
She was a doctor at the hospice and we see each other every few months for a chat and a catch up
She is bright and intelligent and warm.
We ate a dry brunch fry up at Bryn Williams whch needed some sauce to it, like it always does but still I said nothing to the waiter.
It suddenly felt like Christmas , after she had gone and I walked the dogs down Colwyn Bay Promenade like people do so much on Boxing Day.
Diverting from the talk in hand I’ve been stalking one of the lisping choir members , he’s a delightfully animated character ( see 1.58 into the video)
I’ve been wasting time watching his hips roll, he looks a Happy soul
Ok the washing up needs doing!!!!
My clay family frown at my frivolity and they glare
I stop stalking Geraldo and contemplate the cat nip stuffed toy my sister ann gave the twins only yesterday.
It lies in at least 14 tufts on the kitchen floor.
Geraldo rolls his hands and sings lustily about a Spanish donkey in my mind
But alas, the cottage needs a clean
Hey ho
Oh, if only the lisping choir was in Trelawnyd, or you lived in Madrid! Kittens and tidiness don't mix, too many things to play with. One thing you can be sure of, the housework will always need doing, so don't fret! xx
ReplyDeleteI’m going back to Madrid soon to see another concert …maybe I should stand at the stage door with an autograph book
DeleteOr a single rosebud
DeleteI dare you...a rosebud.
DeleteHousework is never ending.
ReplyDeleteThe catnip must have fueled the kittens play. Roger and Mary must have been quite entertained.
Geraldo has great energy.
How lovely to have met Polly for lunch!
ReplyDeleteI imagine the clay family are kind observers of cottage life and chat amongst themselves when all residents are sleeping. What fun you, Mary, Roger, the kittens, and the Lisping Choir have added to their shelf-lives.
Yes, and there is always housework.
Hugs!
Funny you say that …my statues are based on the 1000s of Gormley figures , who were designed to just watch
DeleteOh, if only the lisping choir was in Trelawnyd, or you lived in Madrid!
ReplyDeleteWhere there are kittens, there will be mess. Comes with the territory. Everything is a toy to them. And even if you tidy up today, tomorrow it will be as bad, if not worse. Sign of a true home. You'd hate it if everything was always neat, tidy and clean, like a show home. Go on, admit it! xx
Oops, sorry John I've commented twice. Just recovering from the effects of a general anaesthetic, so still a bit out of it! (That's my excuse, don't mention old age and general forgetfulness!) xx
DeleteHope you are OK H hooker? Kath x
DeleteThanks for your concern. Yes I'm fine, but the general has made my brain a bit more befuddled than usual! Sinus surgery yesterday, but OK. No pain which is great. Just a cocktail of drugs to get through over the next couple of weeks. xx
DeleteRecovering from surgery and still commenting, that’s loyalty and class
DeleteThat's me to a T!🤣 xx
DeleteTake care and heal soon.
DeleteThank you Maris Ana. I'm already feeling so much better. What a lovely, caring community John has (apart from the sad anonymouses! Is that a word? Sounds about right anyway, they are mice - timid little things!) xx
DeleteI love that! Makes me feel so happy!!
ReplyDeleteHands up, anyone with a squeaky clean house! No, not me either. I have a cat.
ReplyDeleteI’d love one, just for 20 minutes
DeleteOK John, it is fine to have a contemplative look at housework but isn’t it much nicer to enjoy the kittens and the Welsh terriers. I also had a slow, can’t be arsed morning but after a good coffee the afternoon was sooo productive. Jan in Castle Gresley
ReplyDeleteBun has just sat on my knee for a cuddle, for the first time ever in the living room
DeleteI recognize Geraldo from your sidebar! I first assumed this song was about a burrito, like the beans-wrapped-in-a-tortilla dish, but apparently it's actually about a little donkey on the savannah? (Or so Google tells me.)
ReplyDeleteYes isn’t he adorable ?
DeleteI've always thought the clay family looked interested and maybe one or two a bit concerned but not critical? Maybe you are projecting a bit?
ReplyDeleteYour outings suggest that you are feeling a lot better?
Ceci
I love your assessment , I created an extended family who watch but don’t judge
DeleteThe two clay family members on the left look as if they have their heads together and are gazing critically and making snide comments. Perhaps their names are ' 'Anonymous'. The rest of the family appear to be curiously watching to see what you are up to. Perhaps you could sit the two Anonymous in the back of the freezer and shut the door, leaving them in the dark. They could chill out together.
ReplyDeleteThat’s the grandparents where one is explaining the scene to the other
DeleteAh... I stand corrected.
DeleteUtter rubbish
DeleteLOL. Right on cue!
DeleteDebby aka flis returning again and again to the same post.
DeleteLOL. Just like you! I am not flis. Go back to your sleuthing.
DeleteHe does seem to have a never ending smile.
ReplyDeleteSo attractive
DeleteYou must be feeling much better! That is good news.
ReplyDeleteI am am feeling better thank u xxx
DeleteHow fantastic the video is, what an amazing happy bunch of people who obviously love their jobs. Marie, Melbourne, Australia
ReplyDeleteAnd I love how they follow the conductor
DeleteI find clay people so judgemental. :D
ReplyDeleteI see you
DeleteYes, the clay family look on as if to say What are YOU going to do about this?!
ReplyDeleteTry Plague Rats for the twins.... definitely one each....from Sally Pointer. I think she still makes them...stuffed with catnip and valerian...
Off to Amazon thanks Chuck xx
DeleteSorry off topic...but just found out about Queens Wood Cafe at Highgate, it looks fantastic, so beautiful, maybe worth checking out next London trip.
ReplyDeleteThank u Margo x
DeleteIt looks fab actually

Is Geraldo your fantasy name for him. He IS adorable!
ReplyDeleteCan you find out for me being a Spanish speaker
DeleteIf you invited Geraldo to the cottage, that would make you clean…
ReplyDeleteToo bloody right
DeleteI hear he is on his way… ;)
DeleteWow....look at John go!!!!
DeleteThank you so much! It gave me an uplift that I so desperately needed, after the devasting election we just had in the U.S. Thank you. Linda in Coos Bay Oregon
ReplyDeleteyesterdays news. next .......
DeleteYou can't blame the kittens for neglected washing up and the need for a good clean up. Possibly they are responsible for a little disarray but they are having fun and exercise.😸
ReplyDeleteIf you have a Spanish donkey in your mind , you should see a doctor immediately. It may be very hard to extricate even for a talented brain surgeon. Hee-haw!
ReplyDeleteThey won't be kittens forever.
ReplyDeleteA walk on the beach sounds delightful.
ReplyDeleteThat choir sure looks like they are having fun when they perform. Hope you can book another trip to see them soon, John. Something to look forward too!

ReplyDeleteI saw you saying you feel
much better,I am very happy for you,-Mary
I see what you mean about your Geraldo, a pure joy to watch; such uplifting music despite me knowing nothing about what they say! The clay people, tut, there's a couple passing judgement the rest look quite benign. Kittens create havoc no matter what and housework is ever lingering, do the dishes someone puts a dirty cup in the sink, do the washing, socks and underpants appear in the hamper... ongoing, never ending .... tis life.
ReplyDeleteMy messy house is almost all my doing; I’d rather play with the cats than tidy up constantly, although I try to do both. It’s nice to have you feeling better John!
