Bun

What a horrid day. Wet and windy
Miserable .
There are no films showing that I want to see, and so I’ve watched season 6 of Bake Off  ( the one with the lovely Tamal and Paul and Nadia ) and snacked on squid rings and ice cream.
I’ve read some of Memoriam By Alice Winn, showered in a hot long shower and shaved and walked the dogs briefly inbetween the rain bursts.
I’ve played with kittens and dozed on the bed
Weaver proves to be more assertive and friendly than  the shy Bun
Yes I now have a name which suites more than Lilly and Beans
Bun suited better me thinks
It’s the right name for sure .
Bun is shy and bouncy
The Archers tonight should be the fallout of George’s arrest

  1. Bun, Beans, very similar sounding so, if she's getting used to her name, shouldn't confuse her!
I hope the squid rings and ice cream weren't in the same dish. That would be a strange combination!
Rain, rain and more rain all day here, too. Did we have a Summer? xx

It sounds like you made the most of the miserable weather day tho the squid sounds icky to me - shudder!
Have you thought about getting Weaver and Bun different color collars to help you tell them apart? Choose well, because those collar colors should always stay the same to make it easier to know who is who.

    Hugs!

    1. Please think carefully about collars, John. My neighbour had a cat who was injured by her collar. It was one with an elastic insert, but she still managed to get it caught, get one of her legs through it, which cut into her flesh, under her armpit, as she hid away for several days. She had to have surgery. I really hate cat collars now. Sorry Barbara Anne! xx

    3. I too am against collars for the reasons mentioned. It seems you already know which is which. John.
Have you thought that should you ever need to call Bun in, it could sound like you are shouting Bum! Lol ! πŸ™€πŸ˜ΈπŸ˜Ή
I had a list of about 25 possible names for my two kittens, but didn't decide straight away, just waited a while to see their personality.
Bun could be short for Bunny which sounds cute for a girl kitten.
I love that they are settled and happy.
How are the dogs reacting to them now, is it still a case of upstairs downstairs?

  4. Your windowsill garden is beautiful, and beautifully displayed.

Squid and icecream sound stomach roiling, ick.
The weather sounds rather lovely? I enjoy a day now and then when the weather is so bad one can be expected to do nothing at all.

Hope you've had a few breaks in the rain in which to walk the dogs.

Yes a truly miserable wet and windy weather day, felt like it could be November.
Thank goodness for pets on days like today, I forced myself to walk our dogs this afternoon and was glad I did .
    Bun is a cute name.

I was going to suggest cat collars too. We had pink for Tammy and red for Coco our daughter’s Siamese twins. The girls named them. We are having a nice sunny last days of summer here. Gigi

    2. I think there are breakaway collars that are safe for outdoor cats. But they won't go out right away, will they? They could wear the colored collars for a couple months til you differentiate between them? Even a colored ribbon like is used for puppies would do for a few weeks.

The weather in Ohio is warm and sunny
But I feel your need to hide away
Your day reminds me of some of mine
Lonely in part, perfectly “ pottering”;as you say in others.
Do you miss cooking for your husband John? Sunday is traditionally known as a family meal day . I miss cooking on the grill, when my partner cleaned the deck or the yard.
I feel I know you so well, I do when you describe the little parts of your life.
The photograph of your shelf underlines this
Bits and bobs all carefully chosen and placed with care

One of the Wyeth family of artists had a white dog that looked similar enough to another family dog to be confusing so he drew a spot on its head to help with identification. Probably not workable for black cats, however. Now I need to look that story up to remind myself of the ins and outs of it all.

    So, fried squid rings?

  12. I've always taken a little while to name my cats. Their names have to suit their characters.

  13. There comes a point where you have got to stick with the pet names you have chosen. In my book, kittens should always be called Tiddles and Felix and dogs should be Fido and Rover.

You mentioned no movies you’d like to see currently available. I saw one yesterday at the movies called Thelma, a woman in her 90’s who got scammed online and takes matters in to her own hands. Very enjoyable, funny, delightful. Marie, Melbourne, Australia

Where I come from, 'Bun' is an affectionate nickname and short for 'Bunny' so I think will suit your baby very well indeed. Sounds as if their names now suit their personalities. When I got my rescue dogs (dumped in the countryside brothers) they were named in the rescue as Stan and Ollie. They didn't even know who Stan and Ollie were, just that the names went together! As I have never found Laurel and Hardy even remotely funny, they became Bertie and Ben, which suited their personalities much better. The naming of cats is not just a TS Eliot thing!

  22. I like the name Bun. But I also love Beans, which can be saved for the next member of the family.

  26. Though I have to say that it isn't as powerful as A Little Life. I'm still reeling from the shock and the emotional impact. One of those great novels that really does change your view of the world. I want to read it again but just don't have the strength right now.

I so agree with you, Bel-Ami, A Little Life (Hanya Yanagihara) is 720 pages of life changing and unforgettable reading. So we both recommend it! The remarkable Nicholas Galitzine is working on translating it into film in the future, so we have something to look forward to.
