My nephew won’t give a stuff if the cottage remains a tip for his arrival tomorrow but old habits
die hard and later I will be reverting to my tried a trusted dog snot removal activities.
This morning and early afternoon I’m busy.
I’ve met Chic Eleanor for breakfast and coffee at the impressively refurbed The Red then I will go to MIND to see my counselling client, before shopping and cleaning
I will leave you with this charming video
Enjoy
That poor pup, love changed him in the end.
ReplyDeleteOh, that looks a very familiar situation to all us dog rescuers! My deeply mentally and physically abused little dog took two years to offer a lick and three years to dare to bark. When he and his brother first arrived with me as the hardest dogs I ever had to bring round (after 45 years in dog rescue) I spent their first two weeks with me sleeping lying on my back with one arm around each one; they were so tightly wound it took them this long to be able to dare to sleep at all. I nearly sent them back twice, as they were such hard work, but I knew if I hadn't taken them they would have been put down. I lost Bertie to illness last autumn, but Ben is still with me. He guards me as if he expects lions to pounce on me every time we are outside, but denies this to all and sundry....and if he offers half a dozen kisses will then growl at me to remind me he is still his own boss. Nothing more rewarding than turning such little lives around, because we can only heal the world one life at a time, animal or human. Have a good day, John.
ReplyDeleteI've watched a few similar videos, and I always think the same thing. Love and patience can achieve miracles.
ReplyDeleteOn the cleaning front, I remember my mum rounding us kids up to clean when relatives came. I used to wonder why. I bet their bathroom/ living room/ kitchen were as mucky as ours! Now, guess who cleans when visitors are expected?🧹😄 Enjoy Leo's visit. You'll both have a great time. xx
That was one very traumatised dog. I hope it goes to a great home.
ReplyDeleteI hope that guy takes him home
DeleteNow that looks like a proper posh breakfast! What a lovely little video, it takes lots of love and patience to win a dogs heart (and even more with a cat). Mavis' only fears now are carrier bags rustling behind her, and two or more Asian men coming towards her, if only dogs could tell us their histories.
ReplyDeleteIt makes my blood boil ,
DeleteVisitors get me cleaning too!
ReplyDeleteIt’s only polite
DeleteHave a great weekend. We all keep learning to trust.
ReplyDeleteWe do indeed my friend we do indeed xx
DeleteI just love you so much. This post is why!
ReplyDeleteShucks
DeleteWhat a photo to include under the title of this post! No bagel for me, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of the title. Lol sorry
DeleteIt hurts my heart to think of what that dog must have been through.
ReplyDeleteI hope it was just the fact he hadn’t had human contact rather than physical abuse
DeleteWhy did you remove my comment saying the dog showed sign of physical abuse rather than lack of human contact. Weren't you able to accept an opinion that differed from yours?
DeleteHappy cleaning!
ReplyDelete☹️🪣🧽🧼🧻
DeleteHeart warming video. I only wonder what that poor dog must have been through.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the dog snot removal. I'm sure it's stronger than super glue. X
Concrete
DeleteI can't comprehend how certain people can do something to a dog for them to be so terrified - That man there is a very special soul to heal that beautiful dog x
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day with Leo. A quick dust-up prior to company is ritual, isn't it? I can't imagine what that poor dog went through. Thankfully, he has a new loving home.
ReplyDeleteI’ve just finished and it’s 20.30
DeleteYou could eat your dinner off that toilet
Is your nephew going to notice how clean the toilet is?
DeleteWhy would he not?
DeleteWhat a sad video but it turned out well in the end.
ReplyDeleteHappy cleaning and have fun with your nephew.
Fingers crossed
DeletePatience gets the result in the end.
ReplyDeleteWorks with people too.
You'll enjoy a good clear out and clean!!
I beg your pardon !!!!
DeleteNot that way 😳😎😄
DeleteWell, I'm glad that video worked out well. I wish I knew the backstory! Your bagel and lox looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteYes I was wondering what happened to the wee dot
DeleteI laughed at the title of this post. 😊
ReplyDeleteHope all went well with your busy day.
I cried while watching the video.
Enjoy your visit with Leo!
Fingers crossed xx
Deletewhat a beautiful video ~ reminds me very much of our little lurcher, Nikki, and how traumatised she was when she was rescued. Having said that, right from the first moment she set foot in our home it was obvious that she had decided that the hubster and I were good people and she trusted us from the very start. It took her a very long time to warm up to other folk, though, even our kids and others we saw regularly. I think it helped that we adopted Matty, a big 'ole greyhound, at the same time, and he was of the firm opinion that (despite his own traumatic early years) everyone he met was his new best friend LOL
ReplyDeleteI’ve never had a bulldog that bad, but Winnie was a handful when she first came
DeleteDog snot and food, photo above, are oddly nasty to contemplate together. I'd tsk-tsk over the snot [clean it weekly] but my pug rubs his black grubby face on my write sofas----eeew. We love them anyway.
ReplyDeleteI have less of it without a bulldog in the cottage, there is a possible bitch on the cards btw
DeleteGood wishes for ''possible bitch''! How exciting. Did you every consider smaller bulldogs, like french bulldogs---they have so much personality, tho if course English BDs do too. Or even a pug, they are good for a laugh! But cannot be left alone for long.
Delete*white* sofas
DeleteFingers crossed for the lucky bulldog that lands on your doorstep.
DeleteCor that smoked salmon bagel looks delish! My favourite breakfast in or out of a bagel. That poor doggo, one can only imagine the horror he had been through but the patience and love of the man shone through and he didn't get frazzled and won over the dog... how wonderful is that! No dogs here to snot remove but bloody cat hair everywhere no matter what I do... a big hairy furry feral tabby leaves his fluff all over the shot. Daily removal is a must othewise they ball up and look like temporary homes for mice!
ReplyDeleteIt was served with cooked spinach which was different and rather nice
DeleteFunny title, sweet picture, and heartbreaking vidoe.
ReplyDeleteOur last dog was a stray who was emaciated and it was January. We took him to the vet who told us he was a Virginia Walker Hound and that he had probably been turned out when he didn't hunt welll enough. He was 'ours' for 10 months because he had kidney disease but in those months he was given a name (you should have seen his joy to be called by name), he became uncle to 3 kittens, and he was loved. He never made a sound while he was with us. Sweet Tobey.
Hugs!
and have a wonderful time with Leo!!
DeleteToday I was looking at a nearby animal rescue and they have an English bulldog named Winnie - grey or white rather than your brown, but what a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteCeci
Animals that have been abused makes me wish the abusers were in jail!
ReplyDeleteI once rescued a dog who had been chained outside during lightning storms.
He was so grateful to be safe and loved that he was the most affectionate
dog I ever had.I see above that you may be getting
another dog soon, any one that gets you as their owner is fortunate, Mary
I couldn't watch the video. Enjoy your visit with Leo. - Jackie
ReplyDeleteIf you started to watch , you should watch till the end , it is short and you will be rewarded with happy.
DeleteI don't know the story behind that dog but judging by the bony, out-of-whack frame the story wasn't a good one. That the gent won the pooch over is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat video almost had me in tears. I so hate any cruelty to animals, I could only think of the person who'd made that poor dog that way.
ReplyDeleteThat Blog title didn't sit happily with the photo beneath it!! What a lovely little video. There are two comments I'd make about animal abusers 1. I'd like to chain them up somewhere where animals can attack them... and I'd go away and leave them to their fate, and 2. I've read that there is a high statistical likelihood that children who torment animals grow up to be seriously abusive adults.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely time with Leo - eve if he doesn't notice your cleaning efforts!
I've never seen anything quite like that video. What patience, skill and love. Poor dog. It breaks your heart.
ReplyDeleteMade me cry John - lovely to see such a tormented dog made to realise that all humans are not bad.
ReplyDeleteA "charming" video? I found it extremely sad.
ReplyDeleteThe definition of "charming" is attractive or pleasant as in "a charming cottage"
