My driver was adorable. Big as a bear and with a lisp to die for, he couldn’t speak English much we but chatted away like old friends without really understanding what the other was saying .
Madrid has no beach but the people are warm was the gist of his lecture
The woman opposite wanted it so bad
I’m writing this in a bar overlooking a fountained square with a large Aperol Spritzer
And all is well
See, you are fine. That spritzer looks good. The sky looks amazingly blue.. gigi
ReplyDeleteYou made it! Time to soak it all in. Aperol spritz and sunshine, what could be better. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying every step along with you! Thank you for sharing all of this.
ReplyDeleteSunshine! Hurrah.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds divine.
ReplyDeleteFlirting with the driver get you !!!
ReplyDeleteLee
Enjoy your change of scene Johnxx
ReplyDeleteHave Fun!! Bun
ReplyDeleteOK, I’m not jealous exactly, but I do wish I were there!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are well situated. I found the Madrilleños very friendly when approached with kindness and humor. If you are still there, gazpacho, patatas bravas, jamon, olives and meluza (cod, I think, flakey white fish) are dependable choices wherever you eat. Enjoy yourself! x0x0 N2
ReplyDeleteHow sweet it is! Enjoy and stay hydrated.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
ah, sounds delightful! It might be wild strawberry time too, I remember buying them from street vendors and washing them in the hotel bathroom! They were tiny, the size of the end of my little finger, and so full of flavor! The first time I didn't realize how much a kilo was and ended up with A LOT of strawberries which I shared with the hotel maids.

ReplyDeleteEnjoy - great photos
ReplyDeleteShame you've nobody to enjoy it with.
ReplyDeleteSolo travel can be delightful Anonymous! You please yourself and you need to be self-reliant. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Also you may have more interesting, fun experiences because you are looking outward and not in to your travelling companion. Why not try it yourself some time?
DeleteHaving travelled to many countries for work I've sometimes added on a few days to do a bit of sightseeing. But it doesn't compare to being with a loved one, afternoon siestas are much more fun with that loved one! When on your own there's nobody to share the good things, the scenery, food, sex - everything is more fun than when alone!
DeleteI think John would have preferred to be with a loved one too but he's making the best of what he has.
No “ both” anons are right
DeleteBut what other option do I have.
Nice of you both for underlining the fact
Perhaps you need to stop being so "self reflective" and navel gazing You seem to bin prospective friendships before you've given them a chance. The one who "hadn't got over his previous partner" for instance?
DeleteOr perhaps it's you who hasn't got over your divorce yet?
Perhaps the counselling course isn't really for you? You seem to be doing an awful lot "self reflection" since you started that.
Have you met up with the villagers relative yet?
Jesus what an arse
DeleteIm not even bothering answering
DeleteIt is glaringly obvious that Anonymous needs counselling x Jane
