Spritzer

My driver was adorable. Big as a bear and with a lisp to die for, he couldn’t speak English much we but chatted away like old friends without really understanding what the other was saying .

Madrid has no beach but the people are warm was the gist of his lecture

The woman opposite wanted it so bad

My hotel is near Atocha which feels like soho in London and my room has two balconies!

I’m writing this in a bar overlooking a fountained square with a large Aperol Spritzer

And all is well

  9. Looks like you are well situated. I found the Madrilleños very friendly when approached with kindness and humor. If you are still there, gazpacho, patatas bravas, jamon, olives and meluza (cod, I think, flakey white fish) are dependable choices wherever you eat. Enjoy yourself! x0x0 N2

ah, sounds delightful! It might be wild strawberry time too, I remember buying them from street vendors and washing them in the hotel bathroom! They were tiny, the size of the end of my little finger, and so full of flavor! The first time I didn't realize how much a kilo was and ended up with A LOT of strawberries which I shared with the hotel maids.

    1. Solo travel can be delightful Anonymous! You please yourself and you need to be self-reliant. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Also you may have more interesting, fun experiences because you are looking outward and not in to your travelling companion. Why not try it yourself some time?

Having travelled to many countries for work I've sometimes added on a few days to do a bit of sightseeing. But it doesn't compare to being with a loved one, afternoon siestas are much more fun with that loved one! When on your own there's nobody to share the good things, the scenery, food, sex - everything is more fun than when alone!
I think John would have preferred to be with a loved one too but he's making the best of what he has.

Perhaps you need to stop being so "self reflective" and navel gazing You seem to bin prospective friendships before you've given them a chance. The one who "hadn't got over his previous partner" for instance?
Or perhaps it's you who hasn't got over your divorce yet?
Perhaps the counselling course isn't really for you? You seem to be doing an awful lot "self reflection" since you started that.
Have you met up with the villagers relative yet?
