It’s been a busy day culminating in a cracking theatre production at
Theatre Clwyd. I’ll report on that tomorrow. I’ve had supervision and explored some old memories from my psychiatric days which surprised me. And I’ve booked a car and driver from Madrid airport to my hotel for peanuts. Remember it’s my first jaunt abroad alone since my aborted trip to Rome , and I’m mindful that led to a thwarted visit to A&E
Am I nervous at travelling alone ?
I am …..but I feel it needs to be done
Who is the man in the hat
ReplyDeleteLee
Lol he’s one of the Madrid Choir who gives his singing mucho gusto
ReplyDeleteMy very question, s thanks for asking it, Lee and answering it, John!
ReplyDeleteStay hydrated as you travel and take antibiotics with you if your doctor (which one?) agrees.
Most of all, have fun!
Hugs!
Babs is talking but I hear my sister ann xx
DeleteGo for it, John, and enjoy it all! xx
ReplyDeleteI will
DeleteI worked in Madrid for three years and still go back to visit, one of my favorite cities. If you can, stay in the Salamanca or Chamberi neighborhood (the latter is relatively cheaper), on either side of the Paseo de la Castellaña. Both are centrally located and good walking neighborhoods. I was back there a year ago February, in 2023, and Madrid is still a great place to be.
ReplyDeleteI’m going for one full day and am staying
DeleteNot far from Antón Martín metro
Any advice to where to eat etc please tell me
DeleteYou have set yourself up with this first adventure
ReplyDeleteGo and enjoy it
It will lighten you

ReplyDeleteDiviértete, guapo!
XOXO
Lol x
DeleteHopefully all will be well this time.
ReplyDeleteYes debra , I shall hydrate drastically
DeleteI've traveled alone most of the time, and I enjoy the 'freedom' it gives...I can do what I want when, and not worry about staying in my hotel if I'm tired. I've not been to Madrid, only the coastal cities. Looking forward to your report. Enjoy, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYour support has always moved me , you are a dear friend
DeleteYou never said, Do you speak any Spanish?
ReplyDeleteno puedo hablar una palabra
DeleteHave a wonderful trip John.
ReplyDeletePixie , I will try x
DeleteHave a great time, John! Can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteOh I will bore you all silly with it all
DeleteI have often travelled alone. It offers freedom to do whatever you wish.
ReplyDeleteThank you cro , that gives me some strength, I’m wobbling a littlev
DeleteRelax and enjoy. You will be fine. You have been around the world, this is just across the way.
ReplyDeleteGood point x
DeleteYou were probably just unfortunate last time with Rome that you were quite physically below par at the time. I would make it as easy on myself as I could, and the driver from the airport is worth it, and probably the same thing on the return. Am excited with you and for you.
ReplyDeleteI’m trying to be kind to myself
DeleteHave a wonderful time and we all look forward to hearing all about on your return.
ReplyDeleteLike I said I will bore you all silly
DeleteMay you enjoy every minute. Peanuts is a nice way to travel.
ReplyDeleteI’m coming to your neck of the woods next year
DeleteAnd we shall see each other... come hell or high water!
DeleteI am sure you will have a great time. Madrid is a wonderful city.
ReplyDeleteAny advice is always welcome
DeleteI hope that you have a great time.
ReplyDeleteThe Rome episode was a one off, it won't happen again. Booking a driver takes much of the stress out of arriving in a new country.
I’m mindful of being mindful
DeleteI have faith in you John, you will be just fine. Start hydrating the day before you leave. If I could spend a few days in India alone, then take 2 eight hour flights to Toronto, then 2 days later fly down to Grenada alone, you can do Madrid. Just don’t build it up in your mind, treat it as a job. Have fun and let us know all about it. Hugs. Gigi
ReplyDeleteYou are a star Gigi xx
DeleteThe Rome experience was enough to put anyone off traveling. This trip will be the one that puts it all to rights.
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend thank you
DeleteVery good luck with the trip John.
ReplyDeleteThank u x
DeleteEnjoy every minute!! - Jackie
