Lighten up

I haven’t seen Islwyn to ask about the watering can.
The village social media is full of it.
I was in college all day yesterday.
We finished PD group after three and I drove to the beach again to sit with my face in the sun with a cup of tea and a Bryn Williams sausage roll in hand.
I felt better for it.
Gawd, I don’t know about you but I’m finding myself less patient with people who take themselves far too seriously, especially here in blogland
It must be exhausting being so effin’ pretentious
Jesus! Lighten up a little !

Ok I was eating the aforementioned Bryn Williams sausage roll yesterday
And it cost a bleeding fortune

But I was also wearing my T shirt with HERBIVORE emblazoned on the front of it

The video has nothing to do with today’s post
I just liked the frocks

I’m a relatively new blog reader. I follow six or so.
I don’t mind serious blogs if I can learn something new from them, but several seem only to feature depressive rants or opportunities for indulgence.
Not may make me laugh like John does

  3. Sun, tea and a sausage roll (even in a herbivore t-shirt) are one of life's panaceas for all ills. I agree, lovely frocks, but my god, I'd hate to have to wear one. Give me my jogging pants any day! xx

I liked the frocks too, but most of my attention was spent on following the amazing dance moves. So many people moving in unison, not crashing into each other was impressive.

  6. Love the T-shirt. Time at the beach is always excellent. Ignore the pretension. This shows a problem is brewing. Hopefully it will pass.

  8. My college philosophy professor was a famous theologian who collected "Dad jokes", e.g., "Which side of a cat has the most fur?" .... "The outside". He reminded us that the "Great Greeks" wrote comedies as well as tragedies, and that Ecclesiastes recommends snacks and a good jug of wine. Sunshine, a cuppa, and a sausage roll works for me.

I enjoyed watching the Gilded Age but I would have hated being there. I was never a girly girl, hated to dress up and hated to dance. I was lucky in life, have so far had a great one but I was never pretentious. The happiest time for me was living with my second husband on a 75 year old, leaky wooden boat for five years, winters included in a very cold boat. I am only comfortable wearing jeans and tee shirt and a hoody. I even used to wear crocs! Your course is so serious as is your job, please don’t allow them to rob you of your humour, John.

  11. I'm glad you found some calm at the beach, John. I was watching 2 of my grandsons this morning and we were reading a cute book about feelings. We decided we were feeling happy, calm and excited today. Those boys can really make me smile.

I have just come to accept that I am not everybody's cup of tea. I can only be myself. That being said, there are a lot of folks who have found John Gray to be their cup of tea. If only your first name was Earl, this comparison would have been perfect.

Beautiful dresses and lovely dancing but I'm glad it's not me there. Comfy clothes are the order of the day, week, etc.
I'm glad you can sit blissfully at the seaside as you need to or want to.
    Love the tee!

    Hugs!

  16. There are times to be serious and times to be light-hearted and silly. It is, I think, a question of balance - or am I being too serious? I swear I am not trying to impress anybody... unless of course Mrs Trellis is reading this. Hiya Joyce!

  17. Love the T shirt /sausage roll combination 😎

I have stopped following a couple of blogs..I know one is a grumpy old so and so which I didn't mind, in a way it was his charm....but he has lost his humour and is going on about political things. There is enough of that around as it is!

  18. I laughed out loud at the sausage roll / herbivore t -shirt combo. Must have more comedy in the world. If it makes you feel good do it. Starting today , I am losing one major energy sucker. Canceling some obligations that weren't firm yet anyway. I am needing more me time/alone with what I want. Let the others take care of themselves.

  19. Maybe it actually says HERB-ivore, and Herb was the name of the pig that went into your sausage?

  20. Like you at times do, I find pretentious people too full of themselves.. one that comes to mind owned a yacht but never took it anywhere that was beautiful, on the other end of the spectrum was my husband(now deceased)
who drove a rusty pick up truck yet gladly spent money to build a treehouse for our friend's daughter ,Mary

      Dear Anonymous ,
      Sans mentir, si votre ramage
      Se rapporte à votre plumage,
Vous êtes le Phénix des hôtes de ces bois.
À ces mots, le Corbeau ne se sent pas de joie …

      Without lying, if your song
      Relates to your plumage,
You're the Phoenix of these woods' hosts.
At these words, the Raven feels no joy…

  29. There are far too many people taking themselves to seriously on social media these days, it's driving me mad. Between the pedantics, the negatives Nellies and the 'you must be completely PC these days' it's getting wearisome as well as downright annoying. That's me using no swear words and being good. :-)
