Dorothy has had a comfortable day
Trendy Carol’s Husband came around to visit with a pork steak in hand.
He’s looked after Dorothy everyday I’ve been at work, holiday and college for the past 5 years.
And I couldn’t stand to watch as he stroked her head gently and called her his Dotty, and so busied myself with something in the kitchen as he said his tearful goodbyes.
There are so many sad and upset people standing beside you and Dorothy at this time John, take succour and strength from us all ๐. Jan in Castle Gresley
ReplyDeleteShe’s a popular girl for sure, which is nice as Winifred was a big character to follow
DeleteJust know when someone far away that’s never met any of you read this, she burst into tears.

Reading this with a lump in my throat.
ReplyDeleteI don't always get to this blog as quickly as I should, and just now found out about Dorothy. A difficult time not just for you but it seems your friends as well. A salute and a hug to you, John.

DeleteYou are blessed with your friends and neighbors. TC-DH sounds a lovely man. A heart wrenching post .
ReplyDeleteAnd--how is your cold, and your face? Were they from the same bacteria or virus infection? Doing better now? Compresses w epsom salt/ warm water on your face may help [as you no doubt know].
He is adored by all of the dogs but especially by Dorothy and Roger.

TRENDY CAROL’s Husband been a real rock to me and the dogs. If it wasn’t for him, I could never of kept all four of them five years ago when I had to go back to full time work

ReplyDeleteNo flis I’m afraid the universe won’t be helping anyone
DeleteOh no the pest returns. What's brought you back with your ridiculous comments?

ReplyDeleteDorothy knows that you love her enough to give her freedom from pain, freedom from fear.
ReplyDeleteYou and your pack are loved and have friends in your area and around the world.
I like to think that she will be met in dog heaven by her canine friends from her village life and around the world.
Sending loving thoughts across the pond to you and Dorothy Be strong dear John. Congrats on your future career position. I’ll be saying extra prayers tonight.๐

Sending love to you and Dorothy. When I read about Trendy Carol’s husband’s visit, and you busying yourself in the kitchen, I remembered a similar event, going next door to say goodbye to my neighbour’s dog Gus. My neighbour told me her husband had gone out on a made up errand, as he was worried we would cry as we cuddled Gus, and he would not be able to hold in his grief. Jean in Winnipeg.

ReplyDeleteSo so sorry , lost 2 of these precious beings in the last year so know exactly how your heart must feel♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteJust catching up, John. Bad news and good news. Sorry it's not all good.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully loved Dorothy is, I fear I wouldn’t have been able to watch that goodbye either - not without bursting into tears.
ReplyDeleteTrendy Carol’s husband sounds as though he has a kind soul

ReplyDeleteThank you, John, for sharing Dorothy with us these past years.....and I bid her a fond farewell from afar.....when her time comes. She has been and is loved by so many, I am one of those Dorothy lovers! When we lost our last dog (a beloved Aussie) 2 yrs ago....his end came very suddenly and rather unexpectedly, as Dorothy's is.... our landlord (and neighbor) came to say goodbye also....and I also had to turn away and let them share their thoughts privately. I keep you in my heart, John

So sorry to hear about Dorothy but how lovely to know she was so well loved and looked after when you couldn’t be there. Sending love
ReplyDeleteI have always watched my neighbors' dogs. When they knew their dog Sophie's time had come, they called me to come over to say good bye before they took her to the vet one last time. It was the loveliest gesture; I had known her all of her 13 years, and had watched her whenever they traveled. I will never forget that kindness, especially at a time when they were so grieving.
ReplyDeleteDorothy is loved by so many. ♥
Three cheers for Iwan! (Trendy Carol's husband). Such kindness and such loyalty - beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh. That gave my heart a wrench, and my eye a tear.
ReplyDeleteShe's had a good life with you John. And now she gets to be spoiled in what time she has left. Sending hugs to you John.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful man Carol's husband is and how lucky you and Carol are to have him in your lives...I'm not sure if you know this but most people don't have this type of experience. You will get through this difficult time with your wonderful support team. Courage mon vieux !
ReplyDeleteI am still in shock and sorry to hear of Dot. I feel like you have not had her long, to me, like you just got her. Here's to spoiling her. she will adore your together time.
ReplyDeleteOh sweetie, I know you will cope but I wish I could spare you the pain. Glad to hear about MIND, but it is heartbreaking. You are a good man.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could bring her something delicious and pat her head. You are truly a wonderful person John.
ReplyDeleteHe has been a true friend to you and the dogs when you desperately needed support to continue alone, and still now every day. What a wonderful person. His goodbye with Dotty is so heart wrenching.
