Trendy Carol ( probably sporting something springlike in green) sent some flowers around with her hubby yesterday. I told him, and I meant it that I should be the one buying flowers for if it wasn’t for them , I would not have been able to keep my dogs let alone acquire one like Dorothy .
I bought them a bunch of flowers too, and signed them with thanks , Dorothy x
I went to college today then bought some towels on the way home. I’m on annual leave this week
The cottage is quiet, I’m managed to read all your comments tonight , and am thankful I’ve only had to delete a couple , you’re a nice bunch and I feel supported
Love to you, John.
ReplyDeleteThank u x
DeleteNice towels.
ReplyDeleteYou have lovely neighbours who care.
Mary and Roger will be feeling subdued as well.
((Hugs))
I do…and I’ve been very humbled by the number of messages…what moved me the most? trendy Carol’s husband and his meat parcels, Eirlys from the village who simply left me a load of fresh eggs

DeleteThey are such good friends, to you and the pack. I know you know how lucky you are to have them in your life. There's a Dorothy shaped hole in the cottage which will be there for some time. Make a fuss of Mary and Roger, and treat yourself gently, too. xx

DeleteEnjoy it all and of course please keep us up to date. Jan x
DeleteI’ll post about the change in behaviour of the Welsh , very interesting especially Mary
DeleteIt's a practical man who cheers himself up with gorgeous trendy new towels, and flowers for the dearest and most supportive of friends. You're all doing OK. Onwards.....

ReplyDeleteI’d raise a glass to Trendy Carol and her hubby anyday
DeleteHow lovely to have such wonderful neighbors who have shared your love for Dorothy, Mary, and Roger and who mourn Dorothy's departure with you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good time to have your annual leave!
Love the towels, too.
Hugs!
Good timing on the time off, John. Have a terrific time. Don't forget to relax, too!
ReplyDeleteGot a few nice things to do
DeleteI’ve only just caught up with your news and hadn’t known Dorothy was unwell and then died. Sorry to hear this, John, and hope you have a nice week off. Pipistrello x
ReplyDeleteIt’s a relief today . The Spanish vet rang me to check up which I thought was a lovely gesture and she was pleased with the outcome
DeleteThat’s a professional and thoughtful action by the vet Have you a health plan ? I’m presuming you do given the number of animals you have had
DeleteLee
Yes a lovely gesture…..no plan for aging bulldogs I’m afraid they take the premiums to theblimit

DeleteThat’s better xx
DeleteRun free Dorothy. You were a lucky girl to find such love. Tina in West Oz
ReplyDeleteLovely towels. So sorry to hear about Dorothy. It is hard losing a much loved pet.
ReplyDeleteOh John, I was just checking in on you and Dorothy and read the sad news. So sorry to hear about dear old Dorothy. She was loved and had a good life with you and your neighbours. Take care of yourself and thank you for sharing your animals with us. I love to hear about them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time off, John. Those towels look so plush. It reminded me my towel collection could use some updating.
ReplyDeleteGood friends are greatly valued. You've got many. Those towels are plush and lovely. They'll be great in your bathroom. Enjoy you time off.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for the loss of Dorothy. May the strength of her love and companionship, as all of your furry loved ones have done, comfort you always.
ReplyDeleteLife goes on doesn't it? What color will the kitchen be?
ReplyDeleteJackie
So sorry for your loss - Dorothy was such a joy. Glad to know you have some time off to rest and recharge. Love from Julie in Los Angeles xo
ReplyDeleteI will miss Dorothy even though I only knew her through your posts. You gave her such a good life and she knew she was loved. What news of Albert's replacement? Hugs to you, John from Mary in CA
ReplyDeleteWe have a one year old Mcnab. She is a spectacular dog. Let me repeat—spectacular. I don’t want to think about losing her. Peace out John
ReplyDeleteI do not know what to say, as everything has already been said. I have been thinking about you, and Dorothy, and the other dogs.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy what you have planned for your time off. It sounds like a great balance of being productive with the painting, enjoyment at the cinema and opera, and healing time for you. Also time to be close to Mary and Roger as they readjust and have you to themselves.
ReplyDeleteTrendy Carol and her husband are pure gold. They not only helped and made things possible for you but they have taken the dogs into their hearts.
XXX + :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about Dorothy. You have such lovely friends John, but that's because you're a lovely friend too. Sending love xxx
ReplyDeleteThat's from me, Sarah not anon xx
ReplyDeleteI was so sorry to hear about Dorothy , she was a real character. You gave her a lovely life , and a thoughtful and peaceful death . She went knowing how much she was loved , and that’s the very best you could have done . You deserve lovely friends cos you’re a kind man . Be extra kind to yourself whilst you’re on annual leave, glad you’ve got some little treats planned in between the painting
ReplyDeleteSue xx
I constantly marvel at the loving family you have surrounded yourself with. You earned that with your own love and kindness.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be good if we could get inside the mind of dogs when their dominant one in the pack goes? They sound to be dealing with it in a very pragmatic way John. Mary is after all the Senior one now and it sounds to me as though Roger is more than haooy to let things be. Hugs to all of you and do keep your eye open for a kitten. x PS And do programme some rest time into your time off work list!!
ReplyDeleteNice towels! I'm glad that on the whole people have been positive and supportive.
ReplyDeleteI bet you made them cry with the flowers 'from Dorothy'.
ReplyDeleteShe touched so many people and especially the ones in day to day contact with her. She will be remembered. xx
