When Spring IS Mrs Doubtfire!

Yesterday I parked at the beach with a coffee and just closed my eyes to the sun
Gawd I felt so much better.
For the first time since Lockdown, I reckon that this winter has been the worst in my history
It’s been dreadfully depressing
Physically depressing .
It’s almost caught me out
But hasn’t !

Yesterday’s sun was my MRS DOUBTFIRE moment
The snowdrops by the garden arch
The daffodil buds by the garden gate
Tracy Manchester’s kind text about the Memorial Hall windows

Help is on the way dears!

Spring is on the way

This is my first winter in Wales (I moved here from sunny California). I have been surprised how quickly the light is returning.

  7. It's been tough. The weather has been really gloomy this year, even for a Welsh winter.

  8. I have disliked this winter more than any other. It's been either dry but freezing or milder but very wet and dark with some wind thrown in too. Maybe it's an age thing but I have found this winter depressing and can't wait for spring.

  10. I agree, it's been the toughest Winter I've had in a very long time. And loads of my friends agree. I wonder if the cost of living crisis and the depressing news from around the world is contributing plus our own personal circumstances. I saw my first single daffodil yesterday, bravely bending in the wind. Spring is coming :-) xxx

    2. I think it’s a few things
      A glut of sad news
      A particularly wet winter
A cloudy winter which makes days darker

  11. I echo Ali's thoughts (above) life is tough at present.
I have seen daffodils, pink blossom on a tiny tree and my hydrangea has many buds. Oh and my raggedy primroses, saved from last year are flowering. Spring is just over the bridge.

  15. Glad to hear that the winter blues aren't winning! Even though I get myself outside in all the weathers, I get SO tired of the cold, and long to live where I don't need a closet full of cold weather gear. Sigh. Love, love Mrs. Doubtfire. Robin had epic talents - making us laugh one of his best. Loved him since Mork and Mindy days!

    2. I think, too, that the energy of global unrest, the wars and conflicts, affects us all. How could it not? The world feels unsafe now, though, thinking of history, this is not new. It's just that we can all see it and hear it every day, in so many forms. Sigh.

  16. Walked around the garden of a British friend here in southerly France on Sunday. He has lived here 35 years and is 93! He had a small stroke in June and is still recovering. This winter has been tough for him as well. In his garden, we stopped at each blooming violet, anemone and jonquil soaking up the signs of Spring on the wing. Hugs from here. x0x0

  17. I don't know if it's an age thing, but I dread winter now. It just seems to go on, and on, and... But, the days are slowly getting longer, the sun is getting warmer and the garden is springing back into life. Hang on in there, everyone, it's coming! xx

  28. This winter I really have started to feel old. Actually I am at 80 I guess, just never felt it before. Bronchial infections, sleepless nights, now a painful knee out of the blue (what did I do in bed last night that could have caused that). To all of you in your 60's, take good care of yourselves - once you're my age things often change!!!
Hugs John - enjoy those coastal views and fresh air.

I'm so glad you could feel the hints of spring being on the way. Perhaps it's time to buy a potted plant that can later be transferred to the gardnen?

    Hugs!

  30. It's been a terrible winter here in the US too. Although always seasonally affected, I cannot remember a winter I've felt worse. I too had a beach trip for some winter sun and it's done a world of good. Spring is coming!

It's boiling hot bright summer here and I have been struggling with low mood too. How could we not with all the terrible things going on? You'd have to be a psychopath not to be affected. A shame many of our world leaders are that very thing. Tina in west oz
