Winter

 It’s cold this morning
And I didn’t want to get up
Dorothy didn’t either and cuddled up under the duvet, licking her lips
We listened to the wind for a while
Daring each other to move

I’m only doing a half shift at work so will finish at 1.30
I will be strict with everyone and will leave on time.
I have more study work to do for Monday
This time an academic poster

I’m counting down the minutes I have to leave at 6.45 in order to get to work on time
Eggs on toast with coffee
My daily antibiotic has made me nauseous this morning

Feels like winter

  8. Sounds a bit like me. I start getting ready to leave the house, at the exact moment I should be somewhere else. It takes a real effort to be on time for appointments. I have no sense of urgency.

    2. You need a string on them, through your coat sleeves. Remember that when you were a child? I'm thinking of doing it again, now I'm into my second childhood! xx

    3. I’d lose the string

  12. I'm making soup ..... it's blowing a gale here and it's cold. All of the beautiful autumn leaves are nearly gone from the trees and we won't see leaves until Spring. Time to hunker down with the soup ! XXXX

    2. Nothing fancy ..... had the chicken carcass left from roast chicken so, celery, onion, carrots, chicken carcass and chicken stock. My niece { who is a trained chef ] once told me never to bring it to a boil but always bring it to a simmer very slowly on a low heat. Then I simmer for a good few hours ..... one of my favourite soups and, the collagen from the bones is so good for you. I always feel like I could run a marathon after a bowl ! { I couldn't ,but I feel very healthy ! } XXXX

  15. The early morning Winter cold has no appeal especially when cozy inside and under the duvet. Antibiotic bringing an upset stomach does not sound great and I hope it passes quickly. Half day of work should pass quickly.

    1. I fell asleep on the couch. It was a busy morning. I was the only nurse that knew the unit and I was working with two other staff from our sister hospice and a student nurse who had a lot of common sense
We did ok but I was too tired to study .
I will be off to bed shortly and have banked up the fire

  18. I felt the same this morning but instead of Dorothy I had my cat Jack who would have been content to stay in bed for the day, I think. And I don't even have to go to work or school! Just old and tired. And it's gloomy out.

It was -3 c this morning at 7:00 when I went out to do my groceries, also a few flakes of snow. Yuk, I am ready for winter but not looking forward to it. It has been a mild fall and the leaves are still falling so I have to wait until they are down so my lawn guy can rake them up. They all come from my neighbours trees but I get to pay to get rid of them. I wish I could sleep in but I am just not wired that way. Have a nice day John. Gigi in Toronto

It was .5*C here this morning and I certainly know what you mean about it being difficult to leave a warm bed when it's really cold outside.
Hope taking your antibiotic with food helps so the pill hass the food to land on.
Wishing you a good day and imagine you're already away form work as I write. Also wish you inspiration for that poster.

    Hugs!

  22. When I took the garbage dumpster out to the street this morning just as daylight was appearing, the sky stunned me. It was full of what looked like storm clouds moving very fast. But a great sky. Now, several hours later, it's sunny outside though chilly.

  26. It is so nice now that I am retired. I can spend all day in bed if I want, although I never do. What I really want is big snowstorm now that I don't have to drive to work. I've always loved the snow but had a job where I really had to go in unless the state declared a snow emergency and I legally had to stay off the road. Anyway...I love the beautiful silent snow.
