It was the end of Pride March yesterday in London and again I missed it.
Next year it’s on my list ( my bucket list) even though the TCA is going to hold some Pride Friendly event in the village.
Bunty and I looked at each other and smiled at the thought of everything rainbow in Trelawnyd
“There must be more than just you two in the village” Di Smith noted and the conversation swayed around a bit as Bunty and I discussed the subject of dressing as nuns in a singalong Sound Of Music
I’m a dead ringer for Mother Superior
I will leave you with this Pride Video
Shot on the street with his neighbours in support
Enjoy
What a fab video xx
ReplyDeleteI attended three Pride this years, with one more in July.I swear one year I'm going to do London's Pride yet. The other dear Jon I'm sure will have his experience at this year's Pride on his blog shortly over at Give Them the Old Razzle Dazzle
ReplyDeleteWhere do you buy a suit like that? It's wonderful! What will you be wearing next Pride? xx
ReplyDeleteFab vid! And what, with all those kids there spectating (prime targets to be 'corrupted'!) 'twould send all those far-too-many religious nut-jobs in America into apoplexy - which would be no bad thing. :-)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing about next years pride!
ReplyDeleteThey are a ray of sunshine x
ReplyDeleteWhat a voice and I love the finale. Clearly they're not in Florida.
ReplyDeleteI loved that video. However, I do not believe that the Mother Superior in "The Sound of Music" had a beard. Nor did she speak in a lilting North Wales accent.
ReplyDeleteI bed to differ
Deletefabulous, great voice and i love the rainbow suit xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing video, and absolutely amazing voice.
ReplyDeleteBased on our village population we should have around 12-15 gay or bi people in the village as national average is about 1.5% for gays or about 2-3% if you include bi sexuals according to BBC. I'll leave my back door open just in case!
ReplyDeleteLove this! What a voice, what great neighbors! I bet he lights up the neighborhood! Thanks for sharing! Rita in Austin!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant video. I've always loved that song. London Pride is on my bucket list too. Maybe next year... x
ReplyDeleteBrillian - what about the two of you rehearsing something along these lines for the Trelawnyd Show?
ReplyDeleteHe really is talented. Has the absolute best videos; love how all his neighbors always participate in them. Went to the Pride parade in Philadelphia this year; was a good time.
ReplyDelete❤

ReplyDeleteLet Pride and freedom ring in every corner of the land. How much rainbow bunting do you need?
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant, awe inspiring, heart inspiring video. Thank you so much for that. The idea of you dressed as Mother Superior next year warms the cockles of my heart and makes me smile. And adds to the long list of 'My Favourite Men Who Are Also Inspirational Gays.' Yay!!
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome video. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteGreat video! You and Bunty have a Pride plan...sounds excellent and lots of fun. We've had no Bunty stories lately.
ReplyDelete"There must be more than just you two in the village."
ReplyDeleteThat's so great!
The video cheered my day. Thanks.
Wonderful video. I do wonder though why there is so much emphasis put upon being gay, there isn't a Heterosexual Pride. Why can't we all just accept who we are and who everybody else is without making a big thing about it. Yes I know it's because gays are proud of being gay but aren't we all proud for being who we are?
ReplyDeleteThis comment isn't against gays, I have gay friends and when I queried it with them they said they can't speak for every other gay person but they're happy to live their lives without needing to proclaim that they're different as they don't feel different.
I hope your Pride goes well in the village although as there's only two of you you'll need to sing loud!
There isn't a heterosexual Pride because heterosexual people aren't told all their lives that what they are is wrong and/or shameful -- which has long been the case for LGBTQ+ people. Pride is us pushing back against that message. (Which continues to be heard today in many places and many families.)
DeleteOh dear
DeleteThere is no heterosexual pride because you have never been ostracised for being straight, you have never been spat out in the street or lost a job for being straight, you have never been beaten or indeed killed for being straight, being straight has never been illegal, ridiculed you, made people look down at you
Being straight has never lost you a job , friends or family
That is why we have gay pride
Did any of those things happen to you John? Would be interesting to know
DeleteThere is no Het Pride because heterosexuals don’t sparkle.
Delete(Ok, some do,
but really —this old question gets trotted out every year, and it’s so dull and boring.)
I am not gay but I would like to offer my explanation. Up until the pretty recent past, gay people had to hide their true identity. Can you imagine living your life as a lie for fear or being beaten or rejected? Finally they are comfortable to be open and live their true lives and are proud or unashamed to say they are gay. That has never been something a heterosexual person has had to do.
Deletegood point
Delete"Did any of those things happen to you John? Would be interesting to know"
Deleteok.
I have been spat at in the street, shouted at and abused
i have been ridiculed.
i have had to hide my sexuality from family who have been homophobic and have had family reject me in the early days
i was the lucky one too
does that answer your question?
how does your experience of straightness compare dear anon
It is infuriating to me.
DeleteLove the video. Àt 80 years old it is nice to start your morning with fun.
ReplyDeleteLove that video, LOL! Next year, you and Bunty MUST be the grand marshals of the Trelawnyd Pride Parade!
ReplyDeleteI attended one pride parade, a very large one and found it very sad, old men prancing around in their underwear was a real turnoff. I never went to another one. I don’t think you need to parade to be proud of who you are.
ReplyDeleteSome do
DeleteAnd those old men probably put their lives on the line in their day to be gay and to make things easier for us.
Love it and I applaud being proud of who you are! Where did you hang the rainbow star I made for you?
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I don’t get it
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame for you
DeleteJohn, this comment was by me and I am sorry if I was one of the people to whom you were referring today. Please accept my apologies if this was offensive. It wasn’t meant to be. I’m posting here as I don’t want to cause a new kerfuffle. Love your blog! If you ever make if to San Francisco, lunch is on me.
DeleteA few of the anonymous posts sadly typify the view that gay people are 'ok', as long as they keep it to themselves.
ReplyDeleteGreat video, does he do others? Looks like the neighborhood is one fine place to live.

DeleteGreat Video. Thanks for sharing it.

I see there's now some criticism of Pride as very different from how it started and nowadays just a big commercial jamboree.
ReplyDeleteI think that criticism has been around for years and years. I was hearing it even back in the '90s. We should question the appropriate role for corporations and big business in Pride, but I say, why not take all the support we can get?!
DeleteGood point both , but I agree with Steve, pride gives everyone a chance to yell “ it doesn’t matter any more”
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
DeleteBut clearly it does still matter as your replies above confirm

DeleteIn response to this old complaint, Minneapolis and other cities have started People’s Pride, divested of corporate sponsorship. https://www.instagram.com/mplspeoplespride
People's Pride sounds like a great idea.
Deletehummmm???
DeleteFabulous video! How fun!
ReplyDeleteExcellent video!!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe irony of Chinese firm Tick Tok allowing these videos on their website when at the same time the Chinese are abusing all sorts of minority groups seems to be lost on a lot of people. I support gay rights, always have, I just don't support disgusting regimes like China, Saudi Arabia, and some of the extremist states of the US.
ReplyDeletegood point
DeleteOMG…I never comment but just said that I LOVED that video!
ReplyDeleteJune in NY
What a fun video!
ReplyDeleteI wonder why you delete those comments that question or put their point across?
ReplyDeleteAre we only allowed to comment if we agree with your point of view?
You should go to the Brighton one; much more fun. I've never seen it myself as we're always away, but I've seen pictures! It's outrageous.
ReplyDeleteGreat video. I hope you manage to be at the next Pride and have fun. I've been in Brighton at the same time as Pride and it looked amazing! What an atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cracker of a start to the day for me, just what I needed. What a voice and what a great community spirit. Love it.
