I remember when Elizabeth 2 became Queen, we had to start singing God save the Queen instead of God save the King at school! Now we go back to King.. I won’t decorate but will be up at 3:00 am to watch the coronation. Starting to feel very old. LOL. GG
I didn't wish to be stressed blowing red white and blue balloons up again - even with the pump it was impossible - I am prepared for King Charles and Queen Camilla x 🇬🇧
Glad to see you've got the Union Flag the right way up. I remember learning about how it's made up of the 3 flags of England, Scotland and Ireland when I was in Brownies - just a few years ago.🤣 Wales has always been a law unto itself! xx
Believe it or not, I'm ready here in the US too - As are a couple of my friends. For one of them, I ordered a commemorative mug from "Spode." and got her some British tea cookies from a "world market." It all starts at 5 AM here, and I'll be up and watching. Who's a mad Royalistic bitch now??!! 🤣
I used to have a very large old flag that had been in my family for years. Then (rather stupidly) I lent it to a friend, and when I asked for its return she denied all knowledge of it. Bitch. She is no longer a friend.
I will no doubt see snippets of it for weeks and Britain magazine will give over a complete edition to covering it. That is enough to satisfy me. It sounds like a grand celebration for your country.
The BBC will give us Americans access to the televised coronation ceremony, etc. on the sixth, I love the dignity, class, and history (including the church parts) of it all ,and will be watching it. -Mary
Our decorations are up, the souvenir mugs are ready to be filled with alcohol-free bubbly (we'll be driving to Mum's to watch the Coronation) and the buffet has been planned ... a day worth celebrating for sure.

DeleteI'm invited to pledge my allegiance to the King. Sorry, Charles, I'd rather pledge my allegiance to some worthy cause like the Trussell Trust.

ReplyDeleteIf King Charles saw your flag he would be overcome with emotion. Maybe it is time to ditch Dorothy and get yourself a King Charles Spaniel.
ReplyDeleteI can't relate but I kind of relate. Emotionally I guess. Feeling very very needy tonight. Oh, how I miss him.
ReplyDeleteI have a demitasse glass from the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. I still cannot believe she's gone.
